- When many of us think of the Sydney to Hobart we think of multi-million-dollar mega-yachts skippered by well-resourced crews, kitted out with all the latest hi-tech gear. But there's more to this iconic race. More than 100 yachts set out on Boxing Day to cross the dangerous Bass Strait, and many of them were hoping to fulfil a dream of just making it to Hobart's Constitution Dock. Liz Gwynn followed a few of them on their journey south.
