I know this is an 8 year old video, but for reference for anyone watching, that sloppy front end could also be loose steering head bearings. I bought an 08 Royal Star Venture and rode 270 miles home with that sloppy front end. I tweek on the steering head bearings and it rode like a dream. Nicest bike I ever owned.
I like the sound of the pipes. I have Barron Nasty Boys on my 2005 and I have to wear ear plugs on long trips. lol They're great bikes, just a little long in the tooth techno wise. The motor is bulletproof, it's all the other other crap that wears out. These V-4's like to be rev'ed out. You wind them out much more than a V-twin to get into their power range. If you know how to ride them (higher reving), they're quick enough to stay with most touring cruisers in spite of the 1300cc's.
My Venture had "Bub" slip on's installed and I found them to be quite loud after a while. Kind of annoying really. I purchased a set of OEM mufflers last fall for an anticipated trip to Yellowstone later this summer and didn't want the "drone" of these mufflers affecting the ride. Never hearing the original tone of the bike, (purchased used) I was very pleasantly surprised although most would find them too quiet. I drilled the rivets from the "Bub" mufflers and pulled them apart and very little fiberglass packing remained. I'm certain they will be quieter once repacked.
@@robswallows4581 My 2007 Royal Star tour deluxe has BUB slip ons as well and I love them. They are loud and on a long trip, your ears do feel it a little. I love the way they sound, my next-door neighbor hates my azz and the bike now. LOL! I have no plans to change them. They are tolerable at lower RPMS though.
I have one (an 06 Venture Midnight) and love it....no wobble.... bet you the front tire was low...I even have 1.5” handle bar extension installed so I could rotate the bars up more, as I am a taller rider (6’7”). Rides like a Jet Fighter....absolutely Bulletproof, and a Beast on the highway.... wouldn’t trade it for a Harley.... 75Hp/80ft./lbs. torque... LOVE my Yammer Hammer!
Did all the cables and harnesses work ok with the 1.5 lift..havnt installed yet .they say no mods required..you agree?or did you have to change or reroute the cables
@@joedoe1723did you buy it Joe? If so how’s it holding up? I’m thinking about buying one as my tourer, been in touch with a seller. Bike well maintained used for show only, only problem it has is the class air compressor not working. I’ve read similar complaints and a couple possible fixes. I’d be willing to fix that for the low price he’s asking. 30k kms, 3k€ Cheaper than a goldwing 1200
Yeah, that wobble freaked me out, too! I've got an '05 Venture. I can set the cruise at 40, 50, or 60 mph, let go of the bars, and ride it for miles. No wobble at all. Could be a bad tire, but it could be the bearings in the steering stem. On top of that clutch slippage, and looked like a fairly shot windshield, that bike needs some work and TLC.
venture does not have a tachometer. There was not a 1998 model royal star Venture.. 1999 was the 1st year for the star ventures.. it sounds like the clutch on that machine you are demonstrating is slipping I cringe when I see people attack the shifter the way you did when you first put it into gear.. also, contrary to what the government encourages people to do when they say to start your car and pull out and start driving within about 15 seconds, the owners manual for this model instruct the owner to let the machine warm up before you attempt to ride.. when you let go of the bars and the handlebars started shaking when you demonstrated that the cruise control was on, I have heard different versions of why that happens. Everything from bad tire, improperly balanced suspension front to rear, loose steering head bearings, lots of excuses. I have never heard a satisfactory answer. Because I have machines that do that with brand new tires, world tires, the suspension is balanced, I said the SAG properly, the tires are not bad, I believe the reason motorcycles tend to do that when you let go of the bars is, because the roads are crowned to let water drain to the curb. All motorcycle tires in the United States where out on the left of center first. I saw in motorcyclist magazine back in the 80s or 90s, someone asked the staff a question about why his tires were wearing out on the left side of the tire faster than on the right side. I was stunned when I saw that the expert at motorcyclist magazine answered the question by saying, your frame is bent. he didn’t even know about the roads being crowned.. There is one thing about Venture’s and the Vmax they could also cause steering head shake.. The rear wheel is offset to make clearance for the drive shaft housing by 10 mm. In other words, the rear wheel does not track directly behind the front wheel. The rear wheel is offset by 10 mm. This is very very unusual, but I believe this could be one of the causes of steering head shake when you let go of the bars
I thought my bike was messed up after lowering it and replacing the rear tire. When I let go of the bars it oscillates as seen here. Seems to be inherent of the design. I was about to spend ALOT of money and time to fix this problem. just don't let go...problem solved.
I think it had the retro look but maybe you saw on the left side huh? I think it was the radio station it was on cuz it said 104.1 or something the whole time
I'm sorry but something is wrong with this Yamaha you let your hands off and you started getting speed wobbles you shouldn't get that at those low speeds. decent looking bike though
I have a 2005 Royal Star Venture and as little as 2-3psi tire pressure change in the front will drastically affect the bike's handling. Run right at the maximum listed pressure and maintain it always is what I've found to work; especially at low speed. My first set of tires, (Metzler) were run low by the prior owner and had a contact patch making low speed maneuvers a "challenge" at best. Never did drop the bike but replaced both tires because of this. New tires are Dunlop and much better.
when a motorcycle has a radio in it, it always brings a smile on my face.
4:30 almost got a tankslapper... btw one of best designed motorcycles ever and it sounds fantastic cant believe how joyful to ride

I got 2009 Royal Star Venture. I love it.
you have any problems with it? I have the same year as you and I'm having slight wobble in the front end when doing slow left turns

TWICE on the wobble, clutch slips and motor rough til that V4 warms up then its fine.CARBS baby.Old School
Clutches go away fast on these, that’s normal.
Carbs might just need cleaning?? Thst I know nothing aboti
actually the venture line has been in service since the early 1980's not the 1990.
Isn't it an analog speedometer...not "digital tachometer"? 2:12

I've purchased recently an 2005 Yamaha Royal Star Venture XVZ 1300 TF. Needs to be renovated.
These bikes don't have a tach, I think you meant to say retro speedo. That clutch is JUNK!!
The garage of my dreams❤
listen to that clutch slip!
Ya, at first I thought he had touched the leaver enough it and it broke loose but after the 2nd and 3rd time I am sure it needs a clutch.
They've been making the venture since the early 80's
Major clutch slipping and wobble wobble. Yikes! Otherwise looks like a great fun bike!
Hey man why was it wobbling when you let go of the bars my vstar I can ride for miles no handed
serious front end vibration...
ahh, ok. so an old worn unbalanced tire was to blame. This model is not prone to vibration? I'm about to buy one, low miles for a song.

You got a speed wobble doing 50 MPH what's up with that?

Loose steering neck bearings
probably low pressure in the front tyre. tbh , he should of checked the tyre pressures as part of a pre ride check
Tire pressure the likely culprit

Clutch is toast.
I thought about getting one of these... Until I saw this one.
My moto mech told
me not
to
get it saying they are top heavy unlike goldwing.
I have a 1984 yamaha 1200 venture. They started them in 1983 not the 90s.
Do you have a web site?

massive amounts of clutch slippage 😕
I replaced the clutch on mine at 46K miles. Typical for this bike.
Best bike
Hi Sean, do you have instagram account?
+Sean Kerr yes
I need this bike.
Oh no it got what we call death wobble
Only when you try to take a corner too fast (if everything else is at spec). I've experienced it and it'll make your ass pucker for sure. lol
Can you sell it to me?
It’s a digital odometer.

experienced that wobble on my Fatboy, it was a 6 year old front tyre that needed replacement.
these are relatively rare .Everyone has harleys .
