Well also the fact the Goering was incredibly short sighted, what killed the Luftwaffe was that Germany never bothered to increase fighter pilot training until it was far too late. They were already hitting pilot shortages by the Battle of Britain in 1940 and never attempted to increase this in any significant way until the United States already had air supremacy in 1944. The Germans literally were sending in pilots and ground crews to fight in Russia as infantry in 1943 which goes to show how stupid the Luftwaffe was.

It is said, that even if the wohle squadron would have started, that they couldnt intercept the attack in time. He was still sentenced to death for his careless move. Later was his sentence changed into 3 years in prisoncamp. It seems, that he still took the blame on himself for the failed interception and chose this honorable death.

And at 0:19 when I saw the pic of his family for the first time I would like to think he never taked it, as an ax of fly for all the war, he didn't deserve to take it in the plane, because he was always sure to go back at home thanks to his skills at fly. But this time, he had feelings and sixth sense like this was the last fly.
Maybe, a little good hope, a really small hope to see again her family in his head started to work at 1:25 when I started to attack the first bomber, but at the end...no. And he wanted take the pic of his family to see them last time
