- At the eighth of the Orwell Prize's events at the Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival 2009, Iain Dale (blogger), Peter Hitchens (Mail on Sunday) and Ed Vaizey MP (Shadow Arts Minister) answer the question, What is the Big Conservative Idea?. Chaired by Ben Wright (BBC Political Correspondent). In this part, Peter Hitchens shares his views.
Lots of chuckles then
I wonder if there chuckling now !
I applaud.
Man of wisdom. 13 years on and we still have the same issue. 13 years of the Conservative part on power. They have added to the cultural and demographic revolution occurring here.
Hitchens, as enlightening as always! Both brothers are bright, but Peter is (in my opinion) the brighter.

Dear God, if i didnt look at the date on this video, I would have thought it was released yesterday. It is the greatest tragedy of the century that no one listened to Peter Hitchens at the time.
In this speech, they were laughing at him.
No one is laughing now.
AMEN!
Two years ago I said here
Lots of chuckling there I wonder if their chuckling now
And two years later I say the same thing here.
I loved the strained thankyou at the end. I'm guessing it wasn't a 'get laid' set for Peter that day.
Prophetic
No lies detected
@yington never heard of him.
@yington who is his brother?
This man should be the Prime Minister. Oh sorry, you have to have your common sense removed to be in office. What was I thinking?
