    Marnell was on a massive trajectory. He was putting out parts that were improving and his trick selection was continually growing. His noriety spawned when P-Rod, Rodgers, Nyjah, etc just came to form. If you were paying attention, this was a tough crowd to get ahead of and he was still emerging like Shane was. I remember Shane’s 1st line in the like light. (Nollie flip crook than a front shove nosegrind revert). They busted out of their shells together. I love that his skating still stands in the ever progressing era of skating. Great edit

    I got diagnosed with type 1 in 2012 and was told to give up skating, but I found out days later that Lewis, one of my favorite skaters, was also type 1! He inspired me to keep skating. Was devastated when he passed mere months later from the very disease that I connected with him on.
    He was a great skater and, from every source, a seemingly fantastic person. His style is still a treat and it's a shame we will be missing so much of it Thanks for the edit in 2022! Any ongoing Lewis footage is definitely appreciated.

      Type 1 here as well. Just wondering why you were told to stop? All the best!

    • @Stealitnot
      @Stealitnot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dangeric_ Diabetics have poor circulation and weak nerves so things like your feet and hands are particularly susceptible to permanent nerve loss/numbness. Your body as a whole also heals much slower in general because of it. It's why they make things like socks and gloves specifically for diabetics and why sports particularly prone to injury like skating don't have as many diabetics. This on top of managing blood sugar and dehydration, but that goes with any extended sports/exercise.

    • @DazedCutty
      @DazedCutty 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was diagnosed at the age of 18 with type 1 diabetes. I’m now 37 and I’ve been skating playing ball the whole time. Nerve damage occurs when you don’t take care of yourself. As long as you monitor your blood sugar, and try to eat healthy you will be fine. Diabeties had never shown me down. Just keep in touch with your endocrinologist, and eye doctor. Get a pump and a Dexcom too. They are game changers. Your doctor is a fool for telling you that.

    • @DazedCutty
      @DazedCutty 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you diabetic? You sound like you’re just reading shit, or telling him things you’ve been taught. All the shit you’re talking about is if you don’t manage your blood sugar. I heal the same as always. I’m not weaker.

    • @Stealitnot
      @Stealitnot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DazedCutty I am diabetic. I specifically have Brittle Type 1. I don't benefit from a pump personally. This stuff happens at a different rate for different people. I know some who have had it their whole life who are 60 years old and are fine and people who had it for just a couple years and ended up with organ failure. Stuff I stated is fact. If you have diabetes, even if it's controlled and you power through, you have objective shortcomings. Never said it was impossible to do anything. Maybe chill.

    Lewis visited my hometown when I was in highschool, not for a skateboard trip/tour, but travelling with his girl at the time to visit her parents. He heard skateboard kicks snapping down below in the street. So he came down, asked for a go of one of our boards,(as he didnt bring his) and about 2 minutes into talking to my friends and I, I realised who he was, asked if he rode for Volcom and he said yes. Introduced himself, and he kicked it with us for a few hours some days. Lewis was one of the most humble, genuine, caring people to ever step foot on planet earth. RIP LM

    I remember seeing Lewis at Prahran skatepark a couple of times. He was such a humble dude and made the most difficult tricks look so easy.

    • @aussiekartman
      @aussiekartman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m probably a bit older than you, I remember a young 10 year old Louie at Prahran bowl. He was a sponsored rollerblader and was doing backflips and all that shit. One day he turned up with a skateboard. He said “I quit rollerblading because it’s too easy”. The rest is history.
