I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. There is NOBODY like LeCresia Campbell! Nor will there EVER be! Even as a kid, I’ve heard of that voice and I always wondered how in GOD’s green earth was she able to get up there! Thank you for the breakdown sir! By the way, that’s the first time I’ve heard that falsetto sir! Excellent job sir!

I believe she is a Alto. All of those high notes were falsetto operatic now from her diaphragm, Alto
@@curtisdrummerellerbe9544opera singers use head voice not falsetto so she’s an actual soprano. A lot of who we think are sopranos coming from the black church…we think so because they can reach high notes in the high mixed voice but they are truly high/lyric mezzo sopranos. So many examples of that in black singing.

Ever!!! I have been stuck on that song for the first time I heard it 1 1/2 months ago. I have shared it with so many people as a gift to them. I've also viewed Stand Still/Gods Mercy and can't even get to the second verse of Somewhere Around The Throne because it makes me wanna cry like a baby. This woman was truly ushering in.the spirit of God every time she opened her mouth, especially in Magnify. When she brought in that first 'Hooooooly' with her arm stretching backwards you just know it's uphill from there. Nothn but tears from that point on. Then she goes back on stage for a second round and tear it up

That was my favorite edit of all time!!!
For my grandmother's funeral, I chose to sing one of LC's songs because there wouldn't be any mics in use. It was a graveside memorial & I was afraid people would be straining to hear my voice in the open air. I sang 'Stand still (until your will is clear)'. I'd been so nervous all week about it, & very emotional the morning of her service. I didn't want to fail her or our family. Another service was taking place a few feet away, & when I started singing, I wasn't aware they could hear me. Thankfully, I hit every high note with ease, but when I finished the song, both services applauded. Turns out the other service had wanted a vocalist, but theirs couldn't make it last minute. Lucresia's song was the perfect choice because it helped my voice to carry but also allowed the other mourners to find some comfort💗

My husband had the opportunity to play for her many years ago here in NY. She was impressed that he was able to go right to a note (key) without fiddling around with the piano keys. “Stand Still” is my absolute favorite song by her!!

The way she sing that song is a love letter and a promise to God. The sheer look on her face when she sing certain parts and the fact that her upper body shakes from the strength she uses to output the lyrics. The encore she does on that song is more powerful that the initial singing of the song itself. The same on God's Mercy.

@@msvoice1 I listen to all three of her songs. Starting with Magnify (extended version 11:56), Stand Still, and God's Mercy. I tried a couple of times to listen to the entire song of Somewhere Around The Throne but can't listen pass the second verse because it's too deep. I found out she passed away six months before my dad. God rest both of their souls. I know he's up there enjoying her singing in that heavenly choir

I’m jumping up and down right now Lecresia Campbell was one of my favorite singers I’ve been waiting on someone to analyze one of her songs the things this lady was able to do with her voice is in a category of very few people just an amazing vocalist ❤

I don't know if you have ever analyzed Lacrecia Campbell's song "Magnify Him", but if you haven't, PLEASE do. She is a BEAST in her rendition of that song. Also, sir, I truly enjoy your work in breaking down the various vocal mechanics of these great singers.

Also, I wanted to add this. She did not lift her head to hit that Eb6. Her breathing muscles were engaged!
There is a great video that breaks down and gives the notes for her range. I think she went up to G6# before. Almost whistle tone

First I was blown away that you could reproduce what she did in her register. You have a phenomenal voice. Lachresha had incredible technique. She seamlessly transitioned from chest voice to her belt range then to her legit upper register flawlessly the cool thing was her high notes are her legit voice not just whistle range. What a loss that’s she’s gone.

Not meaning to go off subject of this video...but I had to ask ...I wonder if you might do one of your analysis of Willie Mae Ford Smith some time..Her redention of Canaan Land way back in Say Amen Somebody I would love to get your take on it. There a moment in her performance when she pauses in front of her grandson and I do believe she did it to teach...not sure.....You see during the film he told his grandmother that he didn't believe in women preaching . I know it took her by surprise and it upset her more than she let on. So I was thinking that pause might have been her way of showing him how wrong he was. Not sure .....Hope this is ok to ask. Love your video's...Im 74 and have been listening to some of the old school singers for a long time. Oh her grandson is the young man with glasses wearing a light color suit ...The other fellow.bald man is her son.
