I happened to watch your lesson on PV accidentally the other day and I was rather compelled to make this comment on it not with a view of making a vitriolic, caustic and scathing verbal attack but to help you to become a better teacher than you are now. The examples taken for your lesson are o.k. and you also tried to explain as to why we need PV which is called concept formation but you failed terribly in your explanation and instead you told something different and totally irrelevant than expected by grammarians. Of the three stages of specially a grammar lesson, the most important step is the correct concept formation i.e. why we need it after which you need to check whether your students got the correct concept behind the grammar lesson you are going to deal with and the next two are formula i.e. how to identify a PV or how to make a PV sentence. (one of the 'be' vebs±past participle ) See what Ramond Murfy and other linguists say regarding PV. The other point in my observation of your lesson is the fact that you took both passive and active voice together and tried to deal with them with less success.I have observed keenly that many who try to teach this lesson resort to taking an Active Voice and ,then transform it to a Passive Voice which process I consider very complex and complicated for students to grasp. However, there is a very efficacious method of dealing with this lesson without taking an AV. sentence and too much of talking. The other most terrible point in your lesson which astounded, stunned and shook me to my foundation was that I heard you say that "l' is considered as a plural in English which I think is a blatant and brazen lie you blared. I would like to ask you in which book in this world it is said so.That is a very grievous grammatical mistake you committed. But there is a good reason as to why we use a plural verb with singular "I".My next point is you tried unsuccessfully to deal with PV being connected to all tenses including modals at a stretch. Trying to deal with PV with all tenses at the same time will definitely prove very futile and ineffective and students will hardly understand any one of them clearly. This I assure you is based on my experience. However, your methodology matters a big lot specially in a grammar lesson to make it very successful. If the explanation by you is too elaborate and wordy it will be of little value and less beneficial and mind- boggling, therefore it should be very concise, precise and succinct enabling students to grasp it.
