Dark Cloud is great, but Dark Chronicle is fantastic. I couldn't tell you how many hours I sunk into that game back when it first came out. Looking forward to seeing your take on that one too!
The analysis was really solid and the odd joke and hand crafted visual aides defo added some flavor to the viddy. I've seen a few videos on Dark Cloud and I'm impressed to hear new and powerful points about it, exemplifying its depth and legacy. Kinda wild to imagine this was how Level5 started; kinda wish they'd get back to game's like this-reminds me oddly of Fantasy Life with its game design quirks and focus on community.
I really need to give this a playthrough! Also I think this is my favorite video of yours so far, informative but with really solid jokes that add to the experience and bring a personal flair!
I loved all the lil edits in this one Ryan! Love when a Beardy vid introduces me to a game I should know more about. I also have mad respect for you getting through older games like this that I definitely wouldn't have the patience for these days
14:54 Maybe someone mentioned it, but analog sticks were not as common on the ps1 even late into its life, not too many games required them. The dpad was the only option for moving for the most part.
I never did finish this game back in the day and wasn't sure why... but the issues you had were likely the ones I did. I liked it enough to find and play the second one though! Nice video 👍
They should’ve just put this in Hyrule. It’d be interesting if a different hero or heroine with a different villain was running around as Link was lol.

I can't imagine not upgrading the weapons. Not sure what was different in my experience.
