Still coming back to this set. Nowadays the defqonj mainsstage opens with people like Vertile. There used to be a nice build up during an egeent. Now it's just the same level over energy/rawness the entire day. Such a disappointment. Nothing against Vertile, truly, I like the guy and he is an outstanding producer. But he deserves a spot later during the night haha!
The time before last time PJ1 showed on qlimax was 2008, last was 2016, each 8 years. And this year's edition will be the final. 8 years now, will we see PJ1?
Qlimax 2016 was the best edition, no zaag, no piep kicks, the only real hardstyle! Hardstyle evolves but memories last forever. I would like to return to those times.
Of course, music changes, but the stuff nowadays is just so bad that I really don't know why the producers don't stop making it. But this IS the real hardstyle for sure.

What is depressing is that this set was performed closer to the golden era than today, and we still have no set to match it. We are still split into raw and euphoric when this is what we should be. Pure hardstyle.
This is not new though. It used to be Oldschool vs. Nu-style, These days i know how the Oldschool enjoyers used to feel when i hear the new music coming out with pjiep kicks and ultra high note kicks and melodies :D
And sadly that ''raw'' took over, with shit like Vertile, Devin Wild and they also call Sub Zero Project ''raw''.... also, Qlimax has become shit compared to this.
I've thought about this night everyday since. Qlimax 2016 was one of the greatest nights of my life, and I imagine it will remain that way forever in my heart. It was perfect.
2016 was the best year for Qlimax, it gave us this great dark B-Front Show, the euphoria of Project One, the classic dance of Tuneboy and the great closing of Angerfist.
You know they will bring it back for one edition. When, who knows, but it will come. And I would love to go to it! Cannot believe I missed this year! Only because of bad founds (from my part)

Not really, almost everyone was happy with the 2008-2010 style. Nowadays it's either decent tracks by older artists (b-front, frontliner etc) or happy humble jumble stuff that all sounds the same. Most of the older artists are even going back to the 2008-2010 style because it was soooooo much better. The scene was great back then :D Just my opinion ofcourse. I started listening hardstyle back in 2006 or something, so I can't judge for the people who experienced the Oldschool era
It's so funny how different tastes are. I started in 2005 and the sensation black in amsterdam was my very first hardstyle event. I loved the era form 2005 to 2007. After that, I still loved it but not that much as in the beginning. However, in 2012 the scene came back to me with full force. The pitched kick was finally developed in a good and hard way. No split between raw and euphoric, frontliner's symbols, headhunterz' last good year, so high, take me there, and so on... The most incredible year for me. Never thought that I could love that music even more than when I've discovered it. Maybe it's also the nostalgia for many people, I don't know. That's just my opinion, of course ;)

(almost like you're in Love).. Now 10 year later, We still love it! The kicks nowadays are even better and harder, the melodies and Synths are more refressing... But there was a time (around 2014) we felt like the hardstyle scene was falling apart.. especially when HEADHUNTERZ decided to stop producing hardstyle.. and when the gap between EUPHORIC and RAW hardstyle began to grow.. it really felt like the hardstyle familiy (all around the world) fell apart.... Our LOVE for hardstyle still exists! For all the HARDSTYLE Fans and lovers all around the world......... The gap between the subgenres of hardstyle is closing up.. people start calling it hardstyle again! Some of you still prefer the earlier hardstyle.. But hardstyle is hardstyle again!... And so let's all hope That Headhunterz is turning complety back to Hardstyle! for 100%.. becauze I think Headhunterz is THE nr 1 DJ in this Scene, who can make the hardstyle family ReUnited Again!

But since end 2017/2018 raw and euphoric is merging into hardstyle again and thats fucking good :). I'm now waiting for P1 album to say that this era is gold like it was :)

I cant stop listening to this set over and over. Been listening to it since it was released. I literally cried when I saw headhunterz and project one was back. Then learning that headhunterz planned to use the intro track to his podcast in this set. I was like "oh, mother fucker, you planned this since the podcast? Holy shit." I was mad and happy and blown away all at once 😂
you can only hope that reverse bass will come back some day. I mean it´s already coming back, but only in intro or with screeching, not actually with melody :(

Every time I come back to this set it gives me waves of goosebumps. This was a once in lifetime experience. I saw so many people cry happy tears that night.
That's one hell of a set, it's how hardstyle is meant to be, hard but emotional! Thank you Willem and Joram for unifying the divided hardstyle community. Even if it isn't permanent, it's a step in the right direction to a new era where hardstyle will not be divided in subgenres!

The problem is: I just can't describe what i love about this music. My friends say it's just noise, no real music. I can't say what's special about it, but it touches me in a way no other music does. And people who don't understand this probably will never do.

@@moel8230 Completly agree... I stop listening everyday hardstyle more for fun partying or nostalgia sometimes and i wasnt loving raw at all and euphoric was cool but not too much.
But since end 2017/2018 raw and euphoric is merging into hardstyle again and thats fucking good :). I'm now waiting for P1 album to say that this era is gold like it was :)

I cant stop listening to this set over and over. Been listening to it since it was released. I literally cried when I saw headhunterz and project one was back. Then learning that headhunterz planned to use the intro track to his podcast in this set. I was like "oh, mother fucker, you planned this since the podcast? Holy shit." I was mad and happy and blown away all at once 😂

The problem is: I just can't describe what i love about this music. My friends say it's just noise, no real music. I can't say what's special about it, but it touches me in a way no other music does. And people who don't understand this probably will never do.
What makes me rather sad is that there are so many of you guys out there, my giant hardstyle family, but not enough of you in my social circle. Just have one, but would love to have more hardstyle friends. This music just unites us all in a way nothing else really does
