    If you get an exact matching oem part and replace, would it void the warranty? I chatted with a dude from Apple who said if you used the exact same stuff and it's done right, it would be okay.

    Mmm, I've worked on a number of different Dell laptops in the course of my work and, yes removing the display does involve a lot of steps, but why do Apple use so many different screw head sizes and types?
    I can only think of one Dell (the Latitude E4320's) that used more than one screw head size and all of them where 'normal' pozi-drive types.
    I'm sure the only reason Apple use all of these odd types and sizes is just to annoy people that what to repair their own kit. It doesn't stop them from doing it, just annoys them, I know, I'm one of those people.

    • @welovetechstuff
      @welovetechstuff 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Steve Jobs didn't want people looking in his tech now they are doing the same thing. I remember these good old simple days when you could just simply unscrew a few screws and the entire laptop was apart without any adhesive or anything that would cause problems after replacement.

    I was trying to replace the fan assembly on a 2015 Macbook Pro using the iFixit tech kit because the fan had some weird noises recently. After finishing everything the Mac would not boot up and beep 3 times everytime I tried to boot it. From what I read 3 beeps during boot up means the computer lost connection with the RAM. Ram is soldered to the board on 2015 Macbook Pro and I did not touch the RAM at all during the process. Any idea why the RAM died?

    I have an early 2015 Macbook and this looks completely different. The touchpad is much larger and I don't have a USB C port on mine. What am I missing?

    • @chriskaprys
      @chriskaprys 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, that's not a 2015 Macbook. Usually iFixit have good attention to detail, but this video, and the link in their description for the fix, both claim it's a 2015 Macbook when it's clearly not. From the reflective Apple logo instead of white (2016 and onward), the trackpad size, the USB-C, and the fact that they call it a MacBook Retina without specifying Air or Pro, you can tell this is the 12" MacBook Retina.
      Edit: I stand corrected. I guess there WAS a 2015 MacBook that is 12" and simply referred to as the MacBook Retina. It does have a USB-C port.

    It be nice if they didn't fuse the LCD to the lid. Ugh

    • @catc296
      @catc296 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +CreativeType According to them that's the only way to make the thinest display assembly they can and because they fuse it putting a nice camera in it's almost imposible and they end up with the shitty 480p sensor this has, even though the macbook pro has a 720p sensor with a similar display. Why the fuck? only they know.

    • @Megabean
      @Megabean 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      catc296 Or the cheapest way to make a display that thin. Its not fused per se. Its just glued to the lid with really strong adhesive. I've replaced a few Macbook screens and have tried more then once to pry the already broken screen LCD off with 0% success rate. Its not as if the adhesive magically makes the display thinner.

    • @catc296
