    A lot of people are confused as to why this place is dead. A few years ago a brand new shopping center was opened along the western Midland Avenue corridor, almost right across the river from this place. The Glenwood Meadows shopping center is easily 3 times bigger than the mall and has a Lowes, a Target, GameStop, and countless other local restaurants and name brand stores.

    I remember this mall as a kid. All that's left is Ross. Pretty much all the little stores are gone, but like one or two are open as far as I know

    I lived in Avon back in the mid 80s to early 90s. My parents and I would go to the mall to Xmas shop. I remember as you walked in they had a place where kids would play while the parents would go shopping. I loved it had fun . Sad to see this mall like that and no more KMart. I miss Colorado in general. I'm in Texas now.

      Sorry about being in Texas, half my family lives there. Yeah people say the mall is dying but then I go to a place like Salina or Hays Kansas and their malls are nice. So this is one of those instances where it's a bad owner.

    Brings me back! I grew up on Kmart and Marc’s Toys and Pets in the 90s!

    I was a custodian at the mall. Used to be a Sears there. I remember the rubber sheeted roof of the mall getting leaks after embers from the big fire burned holes in it. Marc's Toys and Pets was the best store. I remember when we bought the animated Christmas toy shop with elves, and setting it up. Many small vendors would set up shops in the middle of the mall around Christmas. I remember when they brought in the coin operated rides, you would be surprised at how much the vending made for the mall monthly.

    The mall was actually even more dead when I went up there 4 years ago. Dude, the parking lot is nice. Before it was soooo bad.

    Lived here in Glenwood for about 13 years and counting. I remember that back in 2007 it was fun going to the mall, when the movie theater was still open and the candy store infrtont of it. It's too bad that over the years so much has changed. I wonder what the future will be like for the mall. Will it eventyualy be torn down, or will the city step up and make the mall great again 🤔

      It could be a nice small town mall. I've seen them. Putting the DMV and Ross in there helps. They need some small stores like the old book store to take up space. It's really just up to management.

    I believe the mall opened in the early 1980s during the western Colorado oil shale boom. We would stop there on our way to Grand Junction from Denver when my brother lived there.

      It definitely looks like an 80s mall. I'm surprised it's so shabby. If they can keep the salina mall or the Greeley mall running they just dont care about this one.

    Stumbled on this. A hard watch. My friends and I spent many weekends at this mall, especially the theater. We all had jobs in this mall at one time or another. I bought the maternity clothes I wore while pregnant with my daughter here. My favorite to go lunch spot was there.

    Is this how I should understand this? The Mall is still open, but no one visits it. Looks so empty.

    • @FrenchToastMashedPotatoes
      @FrenchToastMashedPotatoes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah usually they're empty because they're old and crappy or they're planning on doing something else. This one is just weird. The DMV is there to stay and Ross is busy. No idea why theres nothing else really

    The theater sign you showed was actually in Overland Park KS at the Metcalf south mall. That mall is now gone.

      I think I just googled a picture of a dead mall for the thumbnail. Yeah I remember that KS mall back in the day.

    I still shop at Ross and the occasional spirit Halloween

    Basically the only thing that keeps the mall busy is Ross and I wouldn't be surprised if Ross moved out and found another location. If Ross leaves then this mall is officially dead.

    LOL that mall rules huh? Was that charbroil burger place still next door.

    • @FrenchToastMashedPotatoes
      @FrenchToastMashedPotatoes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No charbroil burger place. There's now a tractor supply, a boot barn, a bank and something else.

      Vic’s charcoal burger drive in is still open, his grill next door unfortunately closed and is being replaced by a new weed store.

      Theres not much there to go back to. I can see going to the DMV or going to Ross, that's about it unless your closest phone store is there.
