I think his cameos were, because George Clooney was a fan of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, going back to their Jesus vs Satin short film. I could be wrong. I mean South Park came out before Kickstarter was a thing. Early ages of the internet, where video codecs and sharing was nothing close to what it is today. I think I first saw the original short film in like 1997, and it literally took longer to load and buffer than the actual length of the video. South Park is still around and Stone and Parker, have made a lot of crazy forms of entertainment, always pushing extremes and boundaries, and they haven’t been cancelled. So, Clooney supporting it, really ushered in a lot of how the internet as a tool, the growth of social media, and how they interact with free speech, and where real world law and virtual law intersect. It’s crazy because, when South Park came out, it was a bastion of liberal thought and expression, trying to be cancelled by right wing thought. And today it almost almost seems reversed. Weird how things cycle and change, but also very predictable. Clooney at the time was one of the most sought after Actors, so in an OG internet way he was kinda one of the first influencers.

Matt and trey started producing a Canadian show called Kenny vs Spenny. They got it put on Comedy Central but when it didn’t take off instantly they pulled a Hollywood suit and abandoned the show. Kenny use to write for South Park around that time also. After the show ended I could sense that something happened between them and then Kenny confirmed it. I kind of lost a bit of respect for them after that. They didn’t start help producing it until season 3 and I always wondered how they got involved. Someone must have shown them an episode and they thought it was hilarious. Anyone who hasn’t seen it should watch it. Especially the who can blow the biggest fart episode.

I remember when the song "Uncle Fucka" started up, and I was just breathless with laughter, and I looked over at her, and she was just looking at me, shaking her head, which made me laugh harder. Good times.

It made the whole experience sooooo much funnier. Keep in mind when this movie came out, south park was not as well known.. and had NEVER said the "F" word because it was on cable tv. There's still a lot of people that don't know about the early works of the makers of South Park. They made a musical way back in 1992 called Cannical! The Musical, and were responsible for a musical that many are familiar with, The Book or Mormon (which has won 9 Tony Awards). They are very talented.

I was able to appreciate the jokes and writing of this film as an adult. And how clever the song “Blame Canada” is. It’s like Parker and Stone telling parents “look! If you don’t want kids watching South Park because it’s too rude and raunchy? Fine!” But parents have to do their job, put their foot down and say no! Instead many parents like to scapegoat random things. This is supported with the parents asking if they should blame the government, society, TV, or in this case, a country.

South Park hold such a special place in my heart. I was in high school, about 12 or 13 when South Park started in the 90's and our home teacher who also loved South Park and when a new Episode came out, he would record it on a VHS tape and we would watch it during lunch break at school. We would gather, maybe 6 or 7 of us in a back room of the library where they stored the TV and Video player on those trolleys you would roll around from class to class as needed (if you know you know) We also watched things like Crusty Demons of Dirt when they first started and also NBA games... god i miss those days!

Story time. When I was 9, my mom bought tickets for my sister, her friend, and I, dropped us off at the mall to see this movie at a theater in the mall. She went to go have lunch with people at her work and left her fancy cell phone with my sister and told us to stay in the mall.
We are literally in the theater, ready to see the movie, but the trailers are being shown. my sister and her friend are like, "we wanna go in the mall and hang out before the movie!"
They were only 11 and 13 years old at the time and had no money, but I had no choice but to follow them.
We go back to the theater, and just like the movie, the attendant is like, " Yeah, you need an adult to see this movie."
We were now stranded at the mall. My sister panicked and calls my aunt. She picks us up from the mall and drives us home. My mom goes to the mall to pick us up and has an understandable shit fit since we are not there. She calls home from a pay phone to alert my gradma or dad, and my sister picks up the phone.
We all got in so much shit!
We did end up seeing the movie like a month later.
