    I modified my stock silencer for one to save money but 2 it seems to work really well and sounds good i pretty much cut it down to right at the bracket that attached it to the bike got rid of the spark arrester and it sounds and performs amazing

    Very little difference, louder which I don't want. Only change exhausts when the original gets damaged!

    Stock pipe? I have a '23 Monster edition YZ250 I just bought and will prob leave the factory pipe on since I don't know anything about messing with carbs/jets. I did however put the shorty 304 on mine and it sounds amazing.

      I added a full Pro Circuit exhaust to my new 2024 YZ250R. I jetted it leaner like the chart says to do for PC exhaust and it ran better with the stock jetting.

    Shorties kill over rev & top.get the factory 304. Eay better power than the shorty.

    • @Jake-rp9cv
      @Jake-rp9cv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      everyone says shorty silencers kill over-rev, but all the pros use shorties and they are revving the bikes the hardest/riding the bikes the hardest. Why would that be?

      @@Jake-rp9cv
      I often wonder myself. Pro riders are notoriously known for not being the best testers. Mike Brown (PC racer back in the day) said he just liked the shorty for the sound.
      Get on a dyno & find out but you should totally be able to feel it with your butt.

    • @Jake-rp9cv
      @Jake-rp9cv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@keithpeterson3447 I ride a 09 yz 125, and I honestly do not think that any over rev power is lost up top with a shorty silencer. I run a bud racing silencer, and I can not tell the difference in over rev when compared to the stock, but I notice that has an insane amount of bottom end with the shorty, and comes onto the pipe so much faster than stock. I also have a 06 yz250 and I cant really tell much of a difference between the stock silencer, a fmf powercore 2 silencer, or a fmf turbine core 2 silencer, apart from sound they run pretty much the same. Im not the kind of person who thinks "because I spent $200 on this part it will be good and make my bike faster" which isn't always the case, but in my experience, the shorty doesn't seem to keep the stock's overrev, and add a considerable amount of low end and midrange.

      The bikes I've had on the dyno more than any other I've dynoed is the yz250 (for 250's) & the yz125 (for 125's).
      The shorty doesn't add any bottom end power & definitely makes them sign off faster. This is true for BOTH bikes.
      Most 125's are actually lean on top. This makes them sign off early regardless of silencers or parts choice. Get some jetting done & you'll totally notice the difference in which works better.
      The 250 seems to be affected & go flat up top even more with the shorty even than the 125.
      Again, this is totally noticeable by your butt as well.
      Like I said, go strap your bike to a dyno & do some tuning. You'll have fun & you'll see what I'm sharing.

    • @Jake-rp9cv
      @Jake-rp9cv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would much rather tune it at the track than on a dyno. I could care less about the numbers on a graph. I prefer the butt dyno. I am also not racing, and I just ride for fun. I could care less if my yz 125 is making 34 or 35 horsepower, im just saying that with my shorty vs stock silencer (2010 newer style) I notice more grunt and less clutching. I have close to 100 hours on my 125 this summer, and I switch between the shorty and stock consistently.
