So we could know what are they doing nowadays. I know it should be hard to find them. But it will be very interesting. Thank you very much for coming back and move the Wushu online world again. You have very good material (videos and blogs) since the beginning (I have followed your page and videos since circa 2005). And your content inspired me to live and train in China, years ago. Thank you so much for the comment and ideas! I would love to reconnect with those athletes some day. I've lost touch with most of them in recent years but my hope is that, after the pandemic travel restrictions lift, I can take a trip back to China and meet up with them again. Maybe that will be my goal for 2023. :-) I'm so happy that you've been able to be inspired from the wushu videos I've posted up on TH-cam. Just wanted to let you know that I was able to get ahold of Yang Yu Hong. He is doing well and coaching at a school in Shanghai. Next time I visit China (whenever this pandemic situation is finished) I will definitely drop by and give everyone an update. :-)
Thanks for the question! As I recall (keep in mind this was 10 years ago so my memory is fuzzy) because they were close to prepping for competition, they were just focused on full sets. It was sort of a "mock competition" session on this day. You can hear the coach saying "So and so is up. So and so on deck." after he does his form, as if they were at the competition. I have footage from the next day and there was more of the same -- full sets without anything between. Actually, I wrote in the video that this was prep for Ningbo, but actually Ningbo ended the day before this. I visited them after I got back from watching that competition, which was primarily a women's qualifiers with a few men's events as well. YYH actually competed on May 12, 2013 in Taiyuan, Shanxi so this was taken about 3 weeks before they left for the men's qualifiers. Hope that helps!
