Great to see the Team have fun on the McCoy Hatfield Trails. That was exciting. Hope Sam got his BBQ on with the Wife ~ 401 is getting a nice overhaul. Great Rivetting to Greg and Joe Cool ~
Wow! You got a lot work done & got to have a fun vacation. That is all very important. Work together & Play together! Fun Fun Fun. You all deserve the break!
I actually did two touch-and-go's at your airport, Chester County, today! I wanted to stop and see the 401 but decided I could do without the hefty fees your FBO charges... Good work guys!
I worked on Twin Cessnas for over 30 years. The first gear retraction system rigging I did was on a Cessna 421. I maintained a particular Cessna 310R for 18 years. I can tell you that when the gear is rigged right it works beautifully. But you MUST NOT take any short cuts in the rigging procedure. Another thing, during each Annual Inspection you will find the gear (at least one leg) will be out of rig. Tony Saxon of TAS Aviation says just normal flexing of the airplane in flight (turbulence) will throw the gear out of rig specification. Very nice work going on there. I see you are not cutting any corners. Beautiful
It means a lot to us that you stop by the channel every week, your dedication to us through thick and thin keeps us motivated even when we feel defeated. And we are here for you as well, thank you for everything 👍🏻❤️
I’ve watched every episode of the 401 rebuild and have enjoyed it so much! Wonder how many women , especially in my age bracket who have watched all of it? I’m 75! It’s just so fascinating to me how long it took to take it all apart and then clean, repair, allodyne, prime etc. and then to put it back together. Just awesome! Can’t wait to see it fly again. 💗
Wow.. I grew up there in Crumpler WV 2 miles from the Ashland resort! That was over 70 years ago.. Learned to fly in BLF . What a shock and real treat to see that you guys were in Ashland.. Thanks for the trip down memory land and Pinnicle creek!..
Hello, I'm still here. I am still following you from France. I really like everything you do. You are very pleasant. Very brave and always smiling. A perfect and passionate team. THANKS
Love the new paint on the landing gear one thing that bugged my ocd is you scratched primer on one of the rivets putting it in ! No more snow skying for you and the owner all flying from hear on in. God bless 😁

Hi Jason! Great job and coming along quickly on your 401. Just a FYI I noticed on torquing the nuts on the "A Frame" as you called it for the nose gear. You are holding the snap torque wrench correctly on the first nut but not the second nut in the video. You had your thumb by the pivot/break point on the wrench for the second I believe it was. That can and often does result in an under torque condition. The correct hand location for proper torque is almost like an open hand on the handle only on the wrench. Some even have a mark to show where your hand should not go past. A direct pull on the handle and no twisting input from your hand. I retired from 42.5 years in aerospace and customer quality after many years in assembly and test with large gas turbine fuel controls. We used many different types of torque wrenches including one like you were using. It's not hard to induce under torque. Just a thought but maybe revisit the torque, just for safety.
I wish I had a boss like you, Jason! As an older fella, I really appreciate you making sure your team has some fun as a reward for all the hard work and dedication. Great job! Love watching the Phoenix rise from the birds nests!
Hey guys just a suggestion when you are using torque paint/seal. Make sure that the stripe goes from the fuselage to the end of the bolt. By only applying it to the end of the nut and bolt, you will only know that the nut has turned. If you apply from the frame to the end of the bolt, you will be able to see if the bolt is spinning in the hole as well. Some applications of torque seal is mandatory, in these cases, you want to ensure that the torque seal is applied IAW OEM standards. Just passing on some advice from a 40 year aviation mechanic.
I would add one thing to the paint/marker. Always use the paint after every bolt torqued one by one. So that you don't end up having 4 bolts not torqued and marked by mistake. Not very likely to happen, but the worst I've seen was six bolts all loose and marked (luckily not on an airplane, but yet a good practice regradless of the extra time spent).
It’s coming a long nicely but that piece on the A frame expose on the landing gear I think that it should have been painted to match the the white of the landing 🛬 gear 😊

Once again, thank you SO much for this channel and the work you do! And then broke my left leg again in a scooter accident on black ice six months ago....not that he'd know ANYTHING about THAT!!! 🤣🤣🤣
What a feeling it is using the torque paint. It's a trick to do and you almost have to re-learn how to do it, it's rare you finish up something and get to put the paint on. SUCH a great feeling isn't it!!?
Keep up the excellent work Jason (& team). U guys rock. Cool athmosphere and companionship. Kudos for Jason`s idea. Life isn`t just work. There`s allways more than that.
That was neat seeing how the front nose gear comes together! Cool attention to all the little details, even down to marking the bolts with torque paint!
Awesome, great video!! It is so much fun to watch you guys from thousands of miles away and also see the parts of US. Great job once again and best, best regards from Finland!!
So happy to see Rebuild Rescue videos every Saturday morning at 10am. It almost takes me back to the Saturday morning cartoons as a kid, just a little greasier and bigger toys. Always a great adventure working on the 401, almost like we're there helping. Thanks, Jason! Can't wait for the next one.
Jason, you choose some cool tunes, you tried to message me privately I think to try and get me the link or something but I didn't know what I was doing
You guys are doing an outstanding job, what y’all are doing is a huge undertaking and I’m so proud to be part of this project. Thank you so very much for the opportunity. 401 forever!!!
18:14. That style of torque wrench is only accurate if you have your hand in the center of the grip. To close to the socket and you over torque, to far off the end and you under torque. I’m sure torquing those bolts a little too much won’t hurt but it’s good to get in the habit of always using it correctly.
I’ve spent a whole afternoon watching the story about this restoration and it’s amazing guys. It’s great to see this bird coming back alive. Can’t wait to see it flying again. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Glad to see the 401 getting closer to being back on its feet again and be a roller. Planes like the 401 are so much easier to move around that way in the hanger. Great job! Glad you found the wrong bolt in the right main gear trunion on Sam's Cougar. That could have been really bad. Obviously something that had slipped through the cracks during previous inspections.
You guys got alot done, go enjoy yourselves and let off some steam!! Be safe and God Bless!!
Thank you for watching and supporting Eric
That was neat seeing how the front nose gear comes together! Cool attention to all the little details, even down to marking the bolts with torque paint!
Hatfield McCoy trails are the best! Memories with my dad riding out there! Beautiful trails
Awesome, great video!! It is so much fun to watch you guys from thousands of miles away and also see the parts of US. Great job once again and best, best regards from Finland!!
Great progress, fellas!
Thank you for dedicating some of your time every weekend with us, it means a lot to all of us here on the channel👍🏻
Great Episode. Super well produced.
Greg is a life saver !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The support you all show us is amazing, we wouldn't be here without you guys. Thank you so much for being apart of the Rescue Crew👍🏻
You over tensioned the mounting bolts. That type of torque wrench can only be used with your hand on the serrated hand grip.
Good catch! Glad you guys know when its time to cut loose and have fun. Four wheeling in the back woods is a good way to blow of steam. You are a great boss Jason. Keep up the great work!
Great leadership and team!
happy annivesary to Sam and hid lady...🙂
Hey Jason, superb job on the front gear brother!! Looks clean!!!
The landing strut would make an excellent skiing strut for the crew who ski.
401! let's gooo
Great progress with the 401 and very happy to see you guys having fun. 🙂
Always fun with these guys! Thank you for watching!
