What a cool place thanks for the tour. I used to regally visit and hang out at the Murry cod hatchery in Wagga Wagga he had a very large tank of about 10,000L with viewing windows for his pet fish. In it was a 100Lb+ one and a half meter Murry cod as a kid it almost made me not want to swim in the Murrumbidgee river lol.
Bet you still hit the 5 o'clock wave in summer tho XD Miss that place, sadly they are having a lot of issues with ground water contamination and can't reopen :'(

Bruce is a legend in fish exporting. Friend of a family friend and I believe his son does freshwater and some marine fish from a few years ago. Times could have changed.
I haven't tried it myself Russell but from all accounts the jades smoke up quite well. I'm not 100% sure about the silvers but remember seeing quite a few folks doing it in forums back in the day. 👍
Hey Rob does he ship to Texas. When I retire I going to start an Aquaponics system. I don’t know if I can do Aquaponics here in Texas when the summer is over a 100 degrees a lot
I think Florida was the first state to allow them Kenneth. It would be something you'd need to take up with the local ag/aquaculture regulatory body first I think. They had to jump through a number of hoops from what I understand. Cheers mate.
They will continue to grow through winter if you can keep the water temp over 20°C which might be an issue down there. They will survive down to about 14°C but they can't handle sudden temperature swings. Hope that helps some.
Rob, I’m getting back into this after a ten year break. I’d like to go vertical this time. I’ve been searching for an evening and I haven’t gotten a good answer online. Can I just fill up a tower with any media and let it trickle down, I’ve seen straw, and I’ve seen nothing at all, just basically nft. Any reason not to use rocks? Or just not use anything? If you can help, man, that would be cool.
I breed nilem fish in Indonesia, the fish are similar to fingerlings. However, in my country it is difficult to sell because the price is too cheap and the procedures for exporting food products are troublesome for local farmers. I would like to raise fish and garden in Australia.
He's been doing it for well over a decade & they keep coming back to him for their fingerlings so he must be doing something right. I think it comes down to his ability to source new genetics. 😉 That's why he doesn't export Barra OS, tool large a gene pool through SE Asia already. Cheers OGA & have a top one mate.

That's a decent sized fish GGP. I would think that small lap dogs would definitely be on the menu. 😅

@@danielthompson3205 Yes a sad outcome for that place fire retardant from the RAAF base got into the ground water with devastating results.

Helped catch sleepy cod from those tanks the last of an era from Richards farm.
Still a bit of life in them Peter. I don't think they'll be closing up shop any time soon, Bruce would get far too bored. 😅
So cool to see and the other video of yours with how they are breed go hand in hand
I was thinking of combining the 2 but though a stand alone would be better. 😉
Hope all's going well at the new place mate.

VERY interesting to watch this and some of Bruce's videos. Question: do jade/silver perch smoke as well as trout?

If Michael Cain raised fish.
Where in Florida can his fish be purchased?
They are only being importers for commercial purposes at the moment. Things may change after the local authorities become more familiar with them.
@@RobsAquaponics I would like to try them out in the Caribbean.

I thought Bruce sold his farm?
Yep, a few years ago now but that hasn't stopped him🤣
Cheers Stuart.
Hi , did the people who ordered from Florida need some kind of special import license?
They had to apply through the local regulators. 👍
How to order fingerlings going to Philippines
Call me pessimistic but isnt exporting to Asia cutting yourself out of the future international market?
