Adam as a lifetime runner my advice would be to 1st get off the treadmill and hit the road. Always run away from your home and never do laps. When you do laps or a treadmill you can stop at anytime. Run 6.5 miles from home if you can’t run back it forces you to walk back. Tampa Jay has my #. Good luck.
@thedailywoo love seeing more people running! Ive been a runner basically my whole life and think about running like Gusteau thinks about cooking. Don't forget to do a little strength stuff (lunges, single leg stands, calf raises) and ease into it. You have been super dedicated to previous fitness goals, you have nothing to worry about if you approach it like you have other challenges. Don't forget to enjoy it.
You got this Adam!!! As long as you cross, the finish line, doesn’t matter on how long it takes you. You are going to love the new shoes you purchased. Good luck on your upcoming training. I am trying to do the same thing.
Not a runner but almost became one after training for my first (and only 😂) half marathon. I used the Jeff Galloway plan. It helped keep me on track and slowly got me up to longer distance runs. As long as you keep better than a 16 min/mile pace you will be just fine. Most people can walk that pace. Excited follow your journey! You’ve got a lot of supporters behind you!
I cant wait to see you progress and train! The most I've done is 8 miles so 13 miles is my next step. I will tell you that walking and running on hard pavement is no joke. My knees were killing me when I got done with those 8 miles
You will love those On Clouds. Olukai makes great shoes as well. They have some awesome “skater” type shoes that have great support and are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

Adam I’m so excited for you and can’t wait to watch you through this journey. You most definitely can finish this Half Marathon: you have more than enough training time if you were doing the Full Marathon! I have done more Marathons and Half marathons than I can count: first I was excited to see that you went to a running store and were measured for the right shoe. Grabbing any running shoe is a huge mistake that beginners make and they pay for it later! Make Sure you don’t decrease your carbs too much. Good carbs are energy and you don’t want to zap out. I would suggest a good Half Marathon run/walk plan for first Half marathon. It would keep you on track and keep you from running junk miles that won’t help you. Jeff Galloway has great plans and he used to be the official trainer for Disney races. He may still be. Disney runs are great because they are so entertaining and it keeps you going. Good luck and enjoy the experience! You may be hooked after this! I think it would be great if Tim joined you. I watched his race and he did great. You will too!! We will be here to cheer you on!! Go Adam!!! By the way I’m glad he talked you into the socks!! I disagree that any sock will do and the 1/2 size bigger shoe is a must! Also keep the running shoes for running and walking on and off the treadmill. You don’t want to wear them every day.
So excited for you and jealous. I wanted to run that race. As for the socks. I love my Feetures. Running socks are so key to saving your feet from blisters etc. as fine a good plan and build slowly. You have plenty of time to train. The run walk method is the best things to start.
You got this Adam. It’s all mental, just push yourself and set little goals. Pick a point run then the next and so on. I’m 20 years in the military and still going even though my body is badly beat up over the years.

Very excited for your journey. i've been running for 40 plus years, done a lot of long races, many on trails. As others have said, you do need to run outside, as the energy return on the treadmill helps you, and running outside will feel different. One major plus to the treadmill is the incline, even if the race is flat, work in some "hills" because they are great leg strengtheners. What's really kept me running is yoga, and it does not have to take a lot of time. 15 minute sessions with yoga with Adrienne and your joints will thank you. good luck, you got this!
Adam I had been trail walking but the winter has slowed that to a crawl and I look forward to going back to that. You could be an inspiration to others, good for you 😊
Hi Adam, I wish you all the best in your health and wellness journey. My wife and I started using a rowing machine last year to help with our cardio because we both have questionable joints and I'm considerably over weight. In your training I would stay outside and away from the treadmill. You got this. If you live in Celebration there are lots of routes that eats up miles for your training. Once again you got this.
I recommend that you listen to the Rise and Run Podcast review of the Disneyland half-marathon that took place in January this year. I did the 10K, my husband did the 5K and Half. While our experience seemed a lot better than most, Florida’s races have a lot more character stops and photopass available because it’s all on Disney property, in Anaheim there’s only photos in the park. They closed the character lines early and back of the pack people didn’t get an opportunity to get photos. Also, moisture wicking socks like the ones you bought are essential. As are moisture wicking clothes. Look into a Jeff Galloway training plan, it would start in mid May. It will be a memorable experience nonetheless, you will learn a lot in this journey, running has come a long way, I’m sure you’ll have fun learning about the evolution.
I just finished my first 10k this past weekend at WDW! It was months of hard work to prepare but so worth it. I was slow, mostly walked briskly, and worried I wouldn’t finish the whole time but did! Good morning, Adam!! You’re awesome. Heck yeah… a morning hanging out with Adam is a good morning!! ☀️ You’re so handsome as you are!!! 😍 I know that you can definitely do it!! You’ve got a will power like no other! Look at how you’ve kept up this daily channel for years!! So much work and dedication go into this daily channel… if you can go out in the world and do the daily exploring and videos… you can definitely do this!!
I am an RN, and I agree with other comments….before you start any more intense training and running, you should get a full medical exam and EKG. It would be terrible to be alone and have a cardiac event. Be safe! There’s NO shame in walking the entire thing, that’s still excellent exercise and a great achievement! 😊 you got this!!! 💪🏻
@@TheDailyWoo you’re so welcome! I’m sure you will do great! An Apple Watch or fitness tracker would be super helpful to keep track of your heart rate if you don’t already use one. I love using my Apple Watch! My daughter (27) and I are going on our first ever trip to Disneyland for my 50th bday (April 1) and we are so excited! (From Indiana). Also plan to visit a beach while we are there…we have NEVER seen the ocean or been to a beach before! 🏝️
That happened to me too with that run Disney! Was in there 20 mins early and only had the marathon available .. I know my limits so I didn’t sign up. It would have been fun. Especially if you and Tim are gonna be there! Well I’ll be routing for you guys!
Your journey has been very inspiring. I'm basically half your age (27), but yet I'm extremely out of shape as well. I'm working on what I like to call a "lifestyle change" as well (I hate the term diet) where I'm counting my calories and working out a lot more, as well. I have the back room in my house set up with a treadmill and, in the future, weights.
You got this! Focus on hitting your basics: hitting your macros and your calories. Try a macro calculator, input your info for a ballpark on these numbers (protein, fat, and carbs). Hit your steps with 10k a day, get your rest, and no sugary drinks. Then adding weights to this equation will be even more of a game changer. Rooting for you, Computer Kid!! ☺️
I wish you well my friend. I really hope you can do it. I did the same for my 50th. Started training for a full marathon 6 months before. After about 3 months of training my knees and back said no sir and I had to give up the dream. I'm pulling for you good luck!
You may want to consider following a program for running, that’s what many of the runDisney runners do. For example, like Jeff Galloway😊 Also, I really agree with the person that says to get a physical from a doctor so you can make sure your heart is ready for this challenge ❤ Can’t wait to see your progress 🎉!
From someone who ran the Disney World Princess 1/2 run in 2023, I have a huge tip. Please sign up for a 5k and get a time stamp. Make sure that it has a time stamp. Make sure you get that time stamp into Disney. I didn’t do this and I ended up in the last corral. Disney didn’t even start me until an hour after the run started. I am 44 years old and I finished but it was not the experience I wanted. I ended up finishing with so many people and that made it hard to finish. You will want an earlier corral. It will give you a better experience. They have these people called the balloon people, who pick you up if you don’t stay a head of them. With that being said, all in all have a great time and if I can do it, you can!!! You got this!!!
Thank you Adam ! You're freaking amazing! Watching for a few years now. I hope all is well. Will be rooting for you from the sidelines for your birthday goal. Shall I ? 👊😂

I’m sitting here with a broken foot and ankle thinking about this endeavor you are planning. God bless you have the determination you can do anything. Isn’t that the Disney way …. To Dream!!!! But you know you look good weight wise work on building muscle…..as I sit here dreaming of walking down the block………

Congratulations on your upcoming race! You’ll love it! Check out the Jeff Galloway method. It’s interval training (run/walk) and it’s a fantastic way to train for Disney runs. Looking forward to cheering you on!
You got this! and have inspired me to be try and get fit by 50. just under 6 years to do it for me, prob should start now and maybe I'll get lucky lol.
Good to hear this. You can do it. They do have compression socks for running they may help. They also have run walk programs with training. Good luck it would be good to get an EKG check before better safe than sorry. Even experienced runners can have heart issues.
Hello Adam. Good fitting shoes are important for any activity you might go on! Signing up for the half marathon is awesome! Dave and I hope you reach your goal by the day you start your marathon! 🤗❤🏰
I just did my first Princess 10k on Saturday. Didn’t train well but I was in an early corral to stay ahead of the sweeper crew. I think you’re going to have fun!
I look forward to the Tim Trakcers video showing Adam the Woo in near darkness crawling across the half marathon finish line. I think Tim looks forward to making this video as well.
I’m so excited for you Adam 😀 Just doing anything is doing something & you’re moving your body & getting healthier inside & out 😀 An ankle brace may help with your ankles, my son uses them. He has found good ones at Dick’s Sporting Goods 😊 And you’re right as the weight comes off it will be less strain on your joints 😊
I'm running that event as well! you can do it! Just build up week over week. I've even walked a few run Disney half marathons. Happy to share some basic training plan with you if that's helpful! see ya out there
When you mentioned On Cloud, it reminded me of Kyle Pallo. He is obsessed with those shoes and always recommends them. On Cloud shoes are on my wishlist of shoes to buy in the future.
Adam, I'm a chef (high intensity physical labor) but the lockdown made me lose a lot of strength. Getting it back at this age is hard because there is a lot of inflammation in my muscles. I take a large dose of turmeric everyday. It helps, but stretching and my PT recommends resistance stretches as well (like big rubber bands to loosen the tendons). Love the house. Love your friendships. ❤
Good Luck, Adam! I'm training for my first half marathon, too. I won't be doing a Run Disney, unfortunately, but I will do the MO Cowbell in St Louis in October. And I'll be 50 in March 2025. #fitby50
*SOCKS* I swear by Wright Sock Double Layer socks. As they have a double layer, your feet don't blister. And they are bullet proof. I've had a couple of pairs since 2006 and they are still like new. Highly, highly recommend them. ( I supinate eg wear the outside of heels on my shoes, so I wear Asics Gel Nimbus running shoes. Also highly, highly recommend them ).
Very excited for you Adam! I can't recommend enough to buy Nike Alphaflys for the actual half marathon!!! I have done 5 runDisney half marathons and the one that i felt comfortable and got my best time was with Alphaflys. Using other shoes my knees would start to feel pain around miles 10-11. I'm telling you man, Nike Alphaflys will save your knees and will make it a much easier experience. A few years ago one woman won all the races on a marathon weekend and she was wearing Alphaflys.
You can do this Adam Just remember everyone is different do what is best for you just like the shoes every brand is different for everyone that works for them
Hi Adam, I've done a lot of the RunDisney races (5K, 10K and Half Marathon) and my goals are always to finish, not get hurt & not get picked up by the slow people mover. You've got this!
My first in person race event was the 2016 runDisney Star Wars Half Marathon. Like yourself,I didn't try to sign up until well after the opening day registration. I had 4 months and i was totally able to train in time. By September you want an under 16 min pace to be safe. There are training calendars you can utilze that help you with the long mile training. June and July will be WAY too hot to run long miles outside, (focus on a couple good long mile runs in August). Use an app to record your progress, record EVERY intentional walk and run thar you do. Get in the habit of recording a 5K three separate times a week, even if it's just walked. The training is not just trying to get faster/further more distance, theres a lot of mileage in just training yourself for endurance in duration. You should have a goal to finish 13.1 miles within 3.5 hours so you don't risk being passed by balloon ladies at the end of the line. The corral placement your first race will be somewhat further back, so if the race starts at 5am, you won't start until about 5:45/6:00am; balloon ladies start about 6:30ish you may only have about a half hour buffer, so don't attempt to get in LINE for a character photo on the course. There will charater spots before and after race and course photographers in good spots, with several selfie opportunities. By August, practice getting up at 3 am because runDisney events start loading corrals wicked early. Best of luck, I look forward to seeing your progress. 🙂
Congrats, on deciding to run the half marathon. You'll do great, you got this. Pace yourself it doesn't matter when you finish. Just getting out there and do it, you already won 🥇
Congrats for putting yourself to the task, Adam. As many other folks who have commented, I too was a runner who did many runDisney races. best advice, yes get clearance from your doctor for sure. Don't train too much too quickly. Build up to it. You can do that for sure. Consider the walk-run method. That is how I completed my two Goofy Challenges. And I notice you run in the Saucony sneakers. As I see, you invested in good running shoes. It makes all of the difference. Getting a gait analysis at a local running store makes a huge difference too. Swap your shoes out too. I had two pairs and rotating saved the wear and tear over time vs wearing only one pair. And I only ran in my running shoes. Rest ypur body too. That's important. And like others have said, get off the treadmill and run outside. PM me with any questions. Best of luck. You can do this.
Adam you can definitely do it. It’s easily walkable worst case but add in some run walk intervals and you will have no problems. Biggest thing is set yourself up for success, get in your coral as early as you can so you will start as early as you can which gives you more of a buffer. Since it’s your first race limit photo stops or at least waiting in the long line, just snap a selfie off to the side and keep moving. I’ve done both coasts and DL is a different feel than WDW since most of the race is off property. For me the highlight out there was running on the field of Angels stadium with people in the stands cheering us on. Also when the race is over as much as you want to go back to the resort and relax it’s best to keep moving, at least for me it is.
Adam, I used to be a runner and had my fair share of issues with my knees and feet. Get 2 pairs of good running sneakers. Start a running program to start achieving 3, 5 miles. Then look for a program that gives you a running schedule that prepares you on how to run a 13.1. If you do all that you should do fine. Maybe get a knee brace and a foot sleeve for stability. Good Luck!
Run Forest Run! You can do this brother!

I was hoping this would be the news you were talking about! I hope to see you during the race and follow your runDisney training. I'm following the program and it'll be my first one too. We can do it!!! 🌟
Hope it all goes well Adam - good to have a goal
Great advice . Thank you
@@TheDailyWoo you’re so welcome!
Wow Adam that is so great! No matter how you do you big props for getting out there and trying!! 👍
I wish you well my friend. I really hope you can do it. I did the same for my 50th. Started training for a full marathon 6 months before. After about 3 months of training my knees and back said no sir and I had to give up the dream. I'm pulling for you good luck!
I’m proud of ya regardless. You signed up and you’ll feel proud of yourself.
Its always good to work toward a goal. Inspirational! Get a red light panel to help with the aches & pains. Really helps with knees & ankles.
And stop weighing yourself because its so stressful. Just go by what clothes & belts are doing.
The training is the most rewarding part! You can do it!
Good luck with your race. Have a great day and stay safe be careful to day God bless
Will be rooting for you, Adam! My friend is running that same run, he's hoping to see you there!
Do some 5k’s or 10k’s to prepare and it will get you pumped for the run! I love 10k’s! I’m doing one soon, in April! Can’t wait!
Thank you Adam ! You're freaking amazing! Watching for a few years now. I hope all is well. Will be rooting for you from the sidelines for your birthday goal. Shall I ? 👊😂
Adam I wish you all the luck on your fitness journey and when you come out here to SoCal to do the run I’m thinking have fun with it don’t try to push yourself beyond you abilities take it slow and when you finish the race don’t worry about the time just pat yourself on the back and say I did it I finished the race and I know it will be one heck of a good feeling that you finished so again good luck, now with that peace ☮️ love ❤️ and happiness to you Adam and I’ll see you on the next vlog adventure wherever it takes you peace ☮️ out ✌️
That’s amazing Adam your be awesome. Do your best mate, you’re not there for a time you’re there to enjoy it and with Tim by your side your have the best time ever 💪🏻❤️
You got this Adam, I’m hoping to do the 5k or 10k on April 2025 with my sister. We have a year of training. Thanks for the info of the store, will see if there is one here in Houston. Looking forward to see your journey to the half marathon.
I just did the Dopey to Dumbo Challenge last month, and a rundisney event is like no other. You will absolutely finish and have the best time ever 🎉
Adam look what you have achieved already. How many people are doing what they love every day? You have bought a home, a car a gemE2 and you even got to Hawaii and you are ticking off all the baseball stadiums! I'd say that's a pretty determined guy! Don't doubt yourself. ❤❤
You will be able to do it! Good luck during your training.
Congratulations on your upcoming race! You’ll love it! Check out the Jeff Galloway method. It’s interval training (run/walk) and it’s a fantastic way to train for Disney runs. Looking forward to cheering you on!
You’ve got this Adam. We are all rooting for you.🎉🎊💕🙌🏻🙏🏻
You got this! and have inspired me to be try and get fit by 50. just under 6 years to do it for me, prob should start now and maybe I'll get lucky lol.
Good to hear this. You can do it. They do have compression socks for running they may help. They also have run walk programs with training. Good luck it would be good to get an EKG check before better safe than sorry. Even experienced runners can have heart issues.
Good luck on your race! I was bummed to not get i to the 10k or the 5k….but I love Feetures socks!!!
You have a great plan to do this ! You got this 🎉😊
Hello Adam. Good fitting shoes are important for any activity you might go on! Signing up for the half marathon is awesome! Dave and I hope you reach your goal by the day you start your marathon! 🤗❤🏰
We all have faith in you Adam! Day by day, slow steady pace! You got this! We will all be cheering you on!
Great goal Adam. If you have to finish walking, who cares. Just starting the journey is a victory.
You got this Adam. I am fives years ahead of you and I was running and riding my bicycle at 50.
That’s awesome news. Hopefully I see you at the race. This is my first time doing a marathon. I’ve always wanted to do a Disney Run
Get after it man! Totally got this!
Don’t over think it. Just go with what your body tells you & make it fun! I’ll be 50 in September I’m going to work on myself too 🙃
I just did my first Princess 10k on Saturday. Didn’t train well but I was in an early corral to stay ahead of the sweeper crew. I think you’re going to have fun!
Very true adam it's always great to trying something new like your said if you don't like something you don't have to do it ever again
Thank You Tim 👍 Adam’s going to do great! Hopefully you’ll be there with Adam 😎
#fitby50
I’ll see you at the race, Adam!
Heck yes
*SOCKS* I swear by Wright Sock Double Layer socks. As they have a double layer, your feet don't blister. And they are bullet proof. I've had a couple of pairs since 2006 and they are still like new. Highly, highly recommend them. ( I supinate eg wear the outside of heels on my shoes, so I wear Asics Gel Nimbus running shoes. Also highly, highly recommend them ).
You can do it! Shoes look great, comfy and supportive . Back to good old So Cal . Admit it ,ya love us ! 😎
Since you can Run, Jog, Walk, Crawl, be Dragged or Carried across the finishing line - you'll be golden 🥇
Heck yes
Very excited for you Adam! I can't recommend enough to buy Nike Alphaflys for the actual half marathon!!! I have done 5 runDisney half marathons and the one that i felt comfortable and got my best time was with Alphaflys. Using other shoes my knees would start to feel pain around miles 10-11. I'm telling you man, Nike Alphaflys will save your knees and will make it a much easier experience. A few years ago one woman won all the races on a marathon weekend and she was wearing Alphaflys.
You can do this Adam
Just remember everyone is different do what is best for you just like the shoes every brand is different for everyone that works for them
Hi Adam, I've done a lot of the RunDisney races (5K, 10K and Half Marathon) and my goals are always to finish, not get hurt & not get picked up by the slow people mover.
You can do it Adam! Running with Adam the Woo! We believe in you. Think you've inspired me to do this in the future as well. Sounds fun.
Did jog/brisk walk for18 miles once in NorCal - worked up to it gradually by doing 3, then 4, then 6, then 8 miles etc. Wishing you the best!
I’ve done both coasts and DL is a different feel
than WDW since most of the race is off property.
Good Luck!
