And it has more effect since he served in the Air Force. Not a republican or democratic politician who talks up the military but avoided serving when they had a chance. Actually, I'd like to see a rule that if the US goes to war or is involved in a "police operation" that the ones that go first are the politicians and the sons and grandsons and daughters and granddaughters of politicians and billionaires. If it's such a great and honorable thing to serve, they should want to go first!

Patriot. That's such an over-used (and misused) term in the US. Opposites sides of many different issues claim the mantle of "patriot", which is now just a way of accusing the other side the other side of being traitors. The word has pretty well lost any meaning, and it was only a term of American revolutionary propaganda in the first place (against the other side, who referred to themselves as "loyalists"). So it's probably time for Americans to let that word go...

Fair point. I think more people are extremely concerned about where all this is headed. If we can get GOP reps to wake up and believe and talk like this guy does, the better off all of us be. Most of the GOP who are still in office at this point sided with Trump but we could use more like Rep. Kingzinger regardless

Due to Gerrymandering, they face a stronger chance of losing a primary than the general election.

To be completely honest here I'd be more then willing to talk, work & even make deals with either Republicans or a Republican Party both in government & outside of government if they believed in & dealt in reality & or sanity. I say that b/c at the end of the day no matter what side of the fence an individual lands on democracy only works if a certain amount of people & or groups who believe in & deal in reality & or sanity are able to agree & disagree on a variety of topics.

What is the thing that prompts you to believe that republicans, in particular, don't deal in reality? It seems to me none of them do. Let's have functionally open borders and embrace neo-racism, would be two low-hanging fruits on the left. What are you seeing on among republicans that is that detrimental? Are they stupid? Yes. But I'd wager they aren't as dangerous as the left is right now.

@@kgm4556 Neo-racism is the practice of hiring, firing, granting admission to, etc., an individual or group based on race or other identity group membership. This is openly embraced by the left. And I know you read my "functionally" open borders qualifier. Right now the debate isn't whether to "police" the border, it's what we should do with them regarding Covid. Quarantine, vaccinate, isolate? Enforcement isn't really on the table atm. Not putting that at any single person's feet, but I'm also not going to pretend it isn't happening for political expedience. That would be truly corrupt.
