I should have watched your video earlier. I went all the way to the Playa ADO main terminal for the bus trip back to the airport but didn't know that the bus stopped in alternate ADO bus station which was lot closer to my hotel (Playa del Carmen Hilton resort). I should have just walked to the alternate bus station.
Great video thank you! My only concern is my luggage we put outside. Do they give you a ticket for your luggage and does someone ask for the ticket? I'm concerned about someone taking my luggage we put outside under the bus.
Hi, Thank you for your comment, We have taken this bus route quite a few times and I actually have had the same concerns you have. Either I have placed our luggage in the bus storage myself or the driver does this and I watch to make sure it is inside and which section it is placed in. If you are traveling from the airport to the bus terminal in Playa Del Carmen, depending which terminal you are arriving, the bus will make stops at each terminal and then the last stop would be the bus terminal in Playa, so everyone will get off at the same stop. If traveling from the bus terminal to the airport it is basically the same procedure in reverse. There is no baggage ticket, basically it is an honor system. **If you are indeed concerned (as I usually am) you can sit by the window above where your luggage is and just look peek out the window at each stop before yours just to check that nobody is taking your luggage accidentally. Now in all the times I have rode this route I have only seen this happen one time and it was indeed an honest mistake as 2 passengers had basically the same exact luggage but as soon as the other passenger had realized it he returned and all was good. Train? When will it be working! Thank you for this information! Very informative…our shuttle left us in August and we never knew about the Ado bus! Thanks this was so informative! We ended up paying 150 US dollars to playa Del Carmen! A policeman kept following us around!
Hi, 150US that's a lot, for the train there is a free shuttle service that connects CUN Airport to the Cancún Station of the Mayan Train and vice versa ( they are still working out some of the kinks ). The Bus is easy, inexpensive and runs frequently but the train is an another option as well, we might do a review of the train next time we visit. Safe Travels!
When I arrive in Cancun, it seems to be a different terminal. I guess where you walk out and there's a load of people outside and then there's this one bar that everybody surrounds and then this coaches and taxis and stuff, but where you are is different what's up with that?

Hi, Some hotels provide a free or paid shuttle and if not first determine which bus station in Playa is closest to your hotel and you can walk, get a taxi or like I mentioned check with your hotel they may be able to assist you.
Hello, I usually just walk as most accommodations are near by, but if you happen to be staying far from the bus stop, have a lot of luggage or traveling with children, a taxi would be your best as there currently is no Uber in Playa ( just make sure the meter is running when you enter the taxi ). And from Playa Del Carmen touristica to Cancun (CUN) Generally the busses run between 3:00 and 21:55 and run less frequently in the early morning hours. Also if the ticket was bought through our web or mobile applications you can change your ticket 60 minutes after its purchase. You must provide the original ticket and an official identification that matches the ticket-holders name. Changes can only be done at the ticket office . In case the new ticket has a higher fare, you must pay the correspondent fare difference. And for cancellations You can cancel your ticket 60 minutes before your departure at any ticket office. You must provide the original ticket and an official identification that matches the ticket-holders name.
Hi generally they will except $USD although you will usually get a poor exchange rate, which is why I recommend Pesos or Credit Card if possible, but if either of those are not an option USD will work as well, Safe Travels!

Don't worry about it, they don't really promote or provide much information on the other bus terminals but now you know for next time.
