Interesting about the Duong family in Can Tho. My great grandfather was the Duong landlord in the Rach Gia region. His cousin is the owner of the Hoi Dong Suong in the middle of Rach Gia. My relatives still own massive land in VN today.

Right as soon as I saw your message, I looked up Hoi Dong Suong and it’s pretty interesting. You come from a big family and have such heritage then. How do you feel about all this?

@@madianddavid I really don’t know much about my family history. It’s been lost along the way from generation to generation. But I was surprised and amazed at some stories about my dad’s family background.

We made another video about “the richest man’s house” in Bạc Liêu. That guy happened to be so famous in the Mekong delta in a later time compared to the Dương family. Even though his younger generations are still in Vietnam, not only did they lose all of the remaining heritage of the guy, they’re unknown to the general public. So, I think it’s hard but amazing that the decedents learn, know and upkeep their ancestors’ stories.

@@madianddavid yeah. Công Tử Bạc Liêu. Us southerners know about him. I went there a couple of times. Had hot pot there for lunch too. Have you visited U Minh forest? It’s pretty awesome. I got my sunglasses stolen by a group of Saigon tourists. LOL. I guess anything from overseas is valuable to them, even from dollar store quality. Anyway, tent the whole boat for yourself for a few bucks. They’ll take you through the forest, sight seeing and bird watching as well. It’s worth it for filming and photoshoot. Highly tê on end a drone if you’ve got one.

You just remind me of us losing our flip-flops on Phu Quoc island. I guess someone needed them more than we did at the time. No! We actually skipped the forest and now you’re making us regret for not doing it. We went to all 13 provinces of the Southwest and were on many boats going through mangroves and forested areas, so we assumed it was the same. Well, spared it for the next time then.
