This is great, one of the best videos I've seen with guitar and Eurorack. Using modular for effects has huge potential but to be honest most examples on TH-cam don't sound very good! Love the Arbhar patch too. I use software and can get similar sounds using VCV and granular plugins, but there isn't anything quite like that module. Would be good to see more videos of guitar with your modular please! The only thing it lacks is some guitar tone. If you don't have an amp or pre-amp, maybe try an amp simulation plugin? You'd need a computer and spare interface, but it sounds so much better than DI guitar. I have an interface with a built-in valve preamp and cab modelling, but plugins are just as good now.
Thank you very much for your comment. I totally agree with you, I would love to have a beautiful preamp for my guitar. I'm thinking about this for the future, maybe an Iridium would work, I really love the sound of this amp simulation pedal!
very interesting stuff! Thanks for this. I've been working with modular for a couple years now but have yet to process a guitar through my rack. Beads is the newest addition to my system, so maybe it's time for me to try something like what you were doing with arbhar here
Thank you very much William! Yes, I think Beads can achieve similar sounds, and I would love to hear the result! Enjoy processing your guitar through modular synth, this is a really nice thing to do! Cheers!
That was very interesting. I wonder what pizzicato would sound like and also what if you played the guitar with your fingers? Sometimes the fingers might not have the percussive trigger you need. There certainly is a lot of scope for experimentation to take this further.
Thank you Andrew! Well, I tried playing the guitar with my finger, and I didn't experience any problem to obtain a trigger. But the grains generated by Arbhar were, in my opinion, less interessing than when I use a guitar pick, less bright and defined. And yes, I will definitely try with pizzicato!
Can I ask you one question? In this video, are you sending the guitar signal directly to the modular synth? Or are you sending it through some kind of amp simulator?
Of course you can ask any question! The guitar signal is sent to my soundcard and then sent from my soundcard to the modular synth. I did this because I wanted to be able to record the dry signal separately from the wet signal.
To be more precise, here is a complete answer. In order to get a correct audio signal, I prefer send the guitar signal to my soundcard and then sent it to the module Ears by Mutable Instrument. This way, Ears receive a line signal, and I experienced that it is better than directly send the guitar signal into Ears. So, in Patches 1 and 2, the dry guitar signal you hear is just my guitar sent to my soundcard. However, in Patch 3, I decided not to do it this way. So the dry signal you hear is coming from my modular synth. I duplicated this signal into the buffered multiple to be able to process it. I don't really know why I decided to do it this way for Patch 3, I could have done it the same way I did it for Patches 1 and 2. I hope it is more clear !
Thank you for your prompt and gracious response. I also think it's much better to convert the guitar signal to a line signal and send it to the module. I've listened to it a few times and I couldn't tell the difference between your processes. But they all sound amazing! I'm very inspired by this video, I'm going to try many things too.

Très joli, le dernier patch est superbe
Merci ! 🚀

Awesome. I love the resulting textures produced from the setup. Will Ears work with an acoustic guitar also> Does it have a pre amp built-in?
Thank you! I think it might work well with an acoustic guitar also since there is an amplification stage into Ears.

You're welcome!
It's really nice to read that this video makes you want to experiment and try stuff, I'm really pleased!
Only to eurorack player will a droning sound sound nice I think but yes it’s not 100% droning cuz it’s ducking your guitar very nice
