Brilliant documentary Luke! The AAA game industry will eat itself for sure, the bubble it already showing signs of failure, and then it will be up to indie and smaller AA studios to pick up the pieces, might even turn into a 1970s era Hollywood renniassance. I'll continue to support games made by people for people, and reject the use of generative AI in anything I make.
Great film Sir Dale! Thank you for this insightful look at this topic. Aside from KCDII, I'm very much behind as far as current games are concerned because I'm one the people who actually wants to finish his game library backlog before getting into new ones. I'm not a huge fan of AI, personally, but I know it's only going to further grow and progress and become more wildly adopted so it's good to start thinking about the relationship we want to have with it now, before it goes too far out of our control. Looking forward to seeing more of Hans Capon in a few months, but even more curious about what else Luke Dale is cooking up 👀
Great documentary, I hope that AI does not take over the videogame and movie industries. I, as everyone, want to play quality games and watch great movies, which AI cannot create, because art can only be created by humans, not machines.
Thank you so much for this. Not only is it such an important topic, but the it's clear how much effort you put into this. The quality speaks for itself! Hope to see more projects like this one from you in the future
In my view, the easier it is to create something, the less intriguing it becomes. AI, to me, is still stuck in the uncanny valley and lacks any soul. Whether it's art, music, videos, or games, they might appear impressive at first, but the more you look, the more they seem hollow. I love watching old movies and seeing the creativity in practical effects and the genuine emotions from the actors. The same goes for games. I adore Kingdom Come: Deliverance because it makes me feel a wide range of emotions, which is rare nowadays when companies are mostly focused on quick products and profits. I don't mind AI being used as a tool to help creators, but recently, it feels more like AI is using people. Great documentary ❤
I really liked this documentary, I especially like how you decided to go over the problem, showing pros and cons of AI and how it can be used for a brighter future in gaming. Excellent work Lord Capon!
It is interesting to see that later in the documentary, it was emphasized that creators still want to use AI even if they have an unlimited budget but not for creative purposes. Rather they want to use AI to make things faster. Unlike someone mentioned in the film, I think that AI can act, as it is hugely inspired by us and iterates our moves, much like we learn. However to create something with feeling or creativity that evokes feelings or impresses others is a very cognitive skill and I think people (creators or actors) can succeed better than AI in this area for the most part. Also if AI will be used to provide things like dynamic conversations then I hope actors who give life to characters will have their rights protected.
Technology is ever changing, and I’m ok with embracing change. But, exploiting people and their abilities is wrong and I’m glad actors are standing up for themselves. Thank you for this, Sir Capon, and I hope it brings awareness and facilitates discussion!
Brilliant doc. The fear of AI occupying a lot of our careers is something I was not expecting even just 5 years ago. This is an important discussion we all need to be constantly bringing to the table to fight for the industries that need to stay human
Typisch Mensch
Wow! What an incredible documentary. The loss of human connection and organic interactions would be devastating for video games, movies, and music. Hopefully, we can mold this new technology into something positive and helpful rather than something that will replace people and their unique talents. Audentes Fortuna Iuvat!
What a great documentary! It's crazy to imagine that you will be immortalized in a game by just signing a contract for your likeness and voice. But for a game studio or publisher to use it without you knowing or not getting compensated is just bad. I didn't even know they were doing these in the States. That's crazy. On a better note, You just earned a subscriber my friend, cheers🍻
Well done my lord! If it was not for real actors, real writers, real people producing my four favorite game series. (KCD, RDR, Elder scrolls, and Fallout) I would not have those worlds to lose myself in.
Hopefully, this video blows up. It's really well made, and you're obviously very passionate about it. Nicely done Hans, you've earned a trip to the pub.
AI is pretty cool for certain things. Installed a mod for BG1 that added in voice for nearly all the unvoiced lines in the game and I tried it and was shocked by how good it actually was. I'm used to Microsoft Sam sounding stuff and here (based on my very limited test of like two no name NPCs lol) it sounded quite passable. It reminded me of BG3 how even when an NPC isn't one you talk to you still get the voice acted line by them making some sort of statement. Cool for older projects that'll never have it redone with a real people but it isn't something I'd want out of a massive budget title as that is just them cost cutting while also not dropping the price for the consumer. Also could be useful for very small teams to add voice when otherwise it would be absent entirely due to lack of budget.
Thank you Luke for making the focus on this matter, and making all these opions and visions be heard. I hope the human element never goes out of the videogames.
Very interesting and thought provoking, thanks for sharing. First thoughts: I believe strongly that consumers/gamers will always appreciate handcrafted/real acting over a.i., but I’m also sure big companies in the end don’t care about that to save some money. Let’s see what happens.
she said its cheap, and said 1000 dollars for 4 hours session? it doesnt add up, in my country with above average wage its 40 max 100 dollars for a quality session that lasts 4 hours, how is 1000 dollars cheap? something doesnt add up or I really misunderstood that
You are not paying wages in the traditional sense. The value of an hour of performance is way higher because it is not a job you can do 8 hours a day every day.
@stopgabsolution5457 but still it's it's insanely high, in czechia you would have to work for half a month to pay her 4 hour long session... That has nothing to do with word cheap
Great documentary, its good to hear Warhorse have little interest in the use of A.I. and I feel that is what makes KCD feel so alive, I imagine the same can be said for the second also.
This is quite a nice documentary! I believe this is a subject matter that needs to be properly discussed in a dialogue, and this video conveys that. Well done, Luke!
The AI genie is out of the bottle, I fear. That said, I see it more like a tool than a replacement for humans. For me, AI is to art what Photoshop is to drawing/painting. Btw, congrats on the awesomely-made documentary my Lord.
The process and journey of making art, whether a painting or a video game, is just as important as the final product. When companies take out that authentic production process they take out the art itself, and left is only processed, mass produced junk without soul. It is a shame to see AI be used in such a destructive way, when it has so much good potential.
I'm an indie dev, you can pack a game full of generative artwork & characters. You can even set them up to talk and interact with the player. What you can't do is set up a 3d world with a story line using AI, you cant guide a player through a linear (or open world) game in a direction that is entertaining and fun. AI is similar to procedural generation, it makes a lot of stuff very fast, but polishes nothing. WITH THAT BEING SAID: I've been in entertainment my whole life, worked on commercials and other video gigs. Actors are entirely overpaid. 1000$/4hrs is insane, considering the developers are probably making close to ~50-100/hr. I know acting is a lot harder when it comes to finding work, but that has been and always will be because literally anyone can act.
@LordHansCapon literally anyone can get started acting. I'm not saying everyone is good at it or should do it. But even I've acted as an extra, it didn't take YEARS of expirence to learn like making games did. If you ever tried to make a game on your own you'd realize where I'm coming from.
@LordHansCapon id even go to far as to say that the attitude of "no anyone can be me" on sets with actors is exactly why they are being replaced.... You don't seem to realize that it's the easiest job on a set, while inclusive of a giant ego. IE; no one likes actors because they get all upset about their work
Honestly, it entirely depends on HOW it runs games and affect the work process, I think for the heavy lifting coding, AI should do it but for art and design, if people are capable of it and are talented, they should do it. But overall I think AI should NEVER overtake a whole dev team but rather be used as tool.
It will sadly replace many actors and artists. It will is already and increasingly so will be good enough for lots of use cases and people. But generative ai is already in a feedback loop. The majority of new content on the internet is ai generated. So it will become increasingly stuck. But for great performances, creativity and the overall vision of a project, talented people will still reign supreme. The issue will be the small creative jobs. I think it will be incredibly hard to get your foot in the door as a creative professional in the future. It will be important that studios like warhorse create many small opportunities for tiny roles and work.
Incredibly well made documentary! You have a serious talent and skill for film making on top of acting. I imagine it was quite scary when you first started at WH and signed off your entire being. Thankfully WH are a decent game studio.
Im very sure you have put a lot of work in this film Luke. I really hope it explodes and more people get to see it. I cant wait to see you in Kcd 2. Love your content.
I think there is just no stopping technological progress, not if the financial benefits are too great. And one of the main things that keeps a low budget game from the potential to make a lot of money is the lack of voiced lines. That is sorely felt in some CRPGs and RPGs that might have become far more popular otherwise. So if the technology improves to the point where they can simply use a program to voice lines, then companies will do so. You can slow it down, but the progress will be inevitable if the technology gets perfected, and voice acting will become another extinct profession to everyone who isn't famous. of course, for people whose voices are known and loved, they will still be around. And I can't imagine Hans or Henry being voiced by anyone else at this point given how distinct they are. I think the main roles will probably still go to voice actors, but there are so many games where I can easily spot that its the same voice actor they have used for many different roles. The Witcher 3 is a perfect example of that- I love the game, but there are so many instances where the immersion is broken because two people have the same voice actor, or you hear the same background voices in game in different locations. For that kind of stuff, I imagine a lot of developers might use AI to solve the problem.
I really liked your character in KCD 1 and it was a pity that there were relatively few missions and 1 DLC with your character. How much will this change in KCD 2?
One argument - if human artists are so superior to AI, then the market place will punish AI heavy low quality games and reward games like KCD… It doesn’t make industrial action illegitimate but it’s also good to be realistic about how unique we humans are (basically, we’re not).
Three scenarios that are going to happen: 1. A.I is able to make games cheaper but at a cost of quality: This might be used by some devs, because in the end all companies care about making money. 2. A.I is able to make games cheaper without a cost of quality: This will be used by a lot of devs, because in the end all companies care about making money. 3. Ai.I is able to make games cheaper while also making games better: This will be used by almost all devs and companies because if they don't their product will be to far behind other companies that ARE using A.I in their games. Money and profit will always rule. PS: Certain things like human emotions and actors and great writers and music composers and many other things will (i hope) always be needed. That human element will always be in the game so games will maintain their souls.
I think this has cemented my opinion that we should never replace actors, developers, writers, etc. with AI. We should ONLY use AI as a tool to assist development and take things that are unrealistic to complete with real actors, developers, etc. we should use AI. Such as like someone said in the documentary that using AI to have characters say your character's name that you picked. It's unrealistic to be able to get voice actor to read all of those names, so use AI for stuff like that. AI should be a tool, and an assistance to real people, replacing those people would be insanely harmful to the industry. It would only benefit the guys at the top, as it saves them more money to put towards their own bonuses at the end of the fiscal year.
I disagree with the speakers who say ai will never be as good as the actors. Just hear what's been achieved in only a few years. If they want it badly enough, they'll figure it out, it'll be indistinguishable to our ears.

Great documentary! I actually WATCHED it ... with my EYES ... on the screen. Without playing on the phone at the same time. Do you know how RARE it is?
My biggest problem with this is that an actor can be forced to 'say' something without their consent. What if their voice is used for something sexual that they aren't comfortable with? And that can be applied to basically all of the ai generated audio.

So I never realised you had a TH-cam channel.. or such well made content. Great video, I've dropped a like and a sub as tiny bit of appreciation for your hard work.
I really liked this video as well as your KCD2 content reveal reaction. I think I'll stick around and consume some more of your stuff!
I played KCD1 religiously. Enjoyed your performance as Sir Hans immensely. Your character in my opinion had the most growth (closely followed by Henry) - & I think your performance showed that beautifully.
I discovered you had a TH-cam channel & that you made short films as well as other stuff through your reddit post. & well, keep cross advertising.. I'm so glad you made that reddit post. I might have never discovered how talented you were outside of acting!
Thanks & lots of love from Singapore!
Bless you! I’m glad I won you over.
24:24 this. "Why do we consume art?" Beautiful thought and summary of it.
"Disclaimer: This video was generated by an AI"😅
Should've put this in the description for the laughs 😆
Great work me lord! I'm an OG gamer and the most memorable games I've played over the years are with the real actors involved in the creation process ❤
Looking forward to seeing more of Hans Capon in a few months, but even more curious about what else Luke Dale is cooking up 👀
Actors provide the soul of meaningful games. They should be paid appropriately and should get to retain the rights to their digital data.
Agreed.
Great documentary, I hope that AI does not take over the videogame and movie industries. I, as everyone, want to play quality games and watch great movies, which AI cannot create, because art can only be created by humans, not machines.
Lord Hans really cooked here :)
Lord Han randomly dropped banger video randomly on Tuesday

Victoria made 2 well-rounded points there!
And this is why we LOVE you Luke! You only produce absolute fuckin bangerssss
Legendary. Thank you for stopping by.
I clicked on this for your channel name… I was blown away with what I quickly discovered
Super scary while also being very encouraging. Excellent video!
Great touch on the whole debate, and very nuanced. Mad you did this yourself, must have taken weeks and weeks.
My 🐐 is making documentaries now?? Let’s goooo!
Sir Hanush would be proud! Nice work dude!
Well done my lord!
If it was not for real actors, real writers, real people producing my four favorite game series. (KCD, RDR, Elder scrolls, and Fallout) I would not have those worlds to lose myself in.
Short answer: yes
Long answer: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition
I hope the human element never goes out of the videogames.
playing thousands of hours of oblivion, using that meme clip of the elf getting crushed still tickles me to this day. Great doc luke.
Wow, I really love your stance on AI, and the editing is just amazing.
Lord Hans truly never stops cooking
Thank you ❤️
Great documentary, its good to hear Warhorse have little interest in the use of A.I. and I feel that is what makes KCD feel so alive, I imagine the same can be said for the second also.
Great documentary Luke! Very well put together and excellent presentation. Reward yourself with a visit to the bathhouse!
Definitely off to the bathhouse now!
This is quite a nice documentary! I believe this is a subject matter that needs to be properly discussed in a dialogue, and this video conveys that. Well done, Luke!
Awesome documentary. Feel quite sorry for Victoria and her contract with AI comp.
Thanks for your thoughts but your last point made me laugh. Literally anyone can act is unfathomably untrue 😂
IE; no one likes actors because they get all upset about their work
wonderful video m'lord! As someone who loves gaming but still is trying to appreciate the finer details along the way, this was very informative!
This video caught me totally off guard, this is really amazing, showing why you’ll always be the true lord of Leipa.
LOVE from INDIA!! Lord Hans Capon
Love to India!
@@LordHansCapon I am HONOURED My LORD
Well done, Luke! I reckon this is gonna go big with a non-KCD audience in a short while. Hope it's the first of many more documentaries to come!
Ah that would be cool 😎
Honestly, it entirely depends on HOW it runs games and affect the work process, I think for the heavy lifting coding, AI should do it but for art and design, if people are capable of it and are talented, they should do it. But overall I think AI should NEVER overtake a whole dev team but rather be used as tool.
100% Agreed. It should be used as a tool, not a replacement for everyone.
AI would ruin the economy so it would never happen
It will sadly replace many actors and artists. It will is already and increasingly so will be good enough for lots of use cases and people. But generative ai is already in a feedback loop. The majority of new content on the internet is ai generated. So it will become increasingly stuck. But for great performances, creativity and the overall vision of a project, talented people will still reign supreme. The issue will be the small creative jobs. I think it will be incredibly hard to get your foot in the door as a creative professional in the future. It will be important that studios like warhorse create many small opportunities for tiny roles and work.
This is amazing and I need to see you acting in more media whether it’s games, movies, or whatever!!
Big companies greed will always lead to exploitation of talents. Community backed projects like KCD will always be the counter to big companies.
I really hope we can strike the right balance between AI and real people in the way that's fair to the latter
Amazing stuff dude. Can't wait for what you conjure up next.
Absolutely best video concept, all love from the Czech Republic 🇨🇿 ❤️
If Warhorse gets close to matching or topping BG3 it's literally over for major game studios.
Very informative, well done! A great voice actor makes a huge difference in my opinion. Looking forward to your acting in Kingdom Come 2, cheers!
Great film my lord, can't wait for February 🍻
Important subject and great video, thank you M’lord! Production quality is really good btw, like REALLY good
One argument - if human artists are so superior to AI, then the market place will punish AI heavy low quality games and reward games like KCD…
It doesn’t make industrial action illegitimate but it’s also good to be realistic about how unique we humans are (basically, we’re not).
Three scenarios that are going to happen:
Was not expecting a video like this from you Luke, loved it thanks for taking the time to make this mate
p.s: loved the Mass Effect font use
Great point about a positive of ai being saying every individual players name. We all wated to find our name on the keyring.
Great doc, m'lord
My grace Lord Hans spend too much time with Technology after FaceTime with Luke Dale
Thought-provoking stuff, Luke. Thanks for uploading.
This was a shockingly wholesome and informative video. Well done.
Great video and very well edited. You are very talented!
I disagree with the speakers who say ai will never be as good as the actors. Just hear what's been achieved in only a few years. If they want it badly enough, they'll figure it out, it'll be indistinguishable to our ears.
Damn the cyberpunk devs were onto something, the similarities between how things are going and the game are eerily similar
This is a wonderfully researched and produced video, and I hope we can see more like it soon!
Really well put together, keeping it interesting and eithyour charisma and sense of humour of course it would be a great documentary. Thanks for all the interesting info I was not aware of. No AI ,what brings this game so harcore fans is the acting of your Grace and Tom Mackay ❤
Great documentary! I actually WATCHED it ... with my EYES ... on the screen. Without playing on the phone at the same time. Do you know how RARE it is?
AMAZING 😻
Good video. Well done. Thanks for putting it up here :)
My biggest problem with this is that an actor can be forced to 'say' something without their consent. What if their voice is used for something sexual that they aren't comfortable with? And that can be applied to basically all of the ai generated audio.
@3rgoflix Can you make someone else say something without AI? How do you use their voice?
@@RinZ3993 ernstgemeinte Frage? Was macht denn der Geheimdienst seit Jahrzehnten ?
i really like Warhorse Studios, may they never lose their great integrity
