The shock collars should be banned. Thank God their little boy is safe and the beautiful dog is with a kind family
O M I really can’t agree about this. In my experience a properly used remote collar can be a very humane training aid. It can help prevent the frustration that causes many people to give up on dog training. Most remote collars have a vibration or tone feature in addition to an adjustable shock level. I never use the actual shock feature. I think the main problem with shock collars stem from the human not learning to use them properly.

jessepitt yes. I can’t help if something else happened with the dog in addition to the shock collar. I currently have 8 dogs. 6 wear a collar. These are great dogs very very well taken care of. They are enclosed in 4.5 acres of our 88 acres. No signs of any trauma. Two are 9 and 10 years old and when we remove the collar one takes off bc she knows she can then go beyond the boundary. Point is people don’t handle things correctly and THOSE ppl should be ashamed!
O M the tool is not the problem, the owner using the the tool improperly is when it becomes an issue. Used correctly e-collars are amazing training tools.

When my oldest was little- I always had anxiety about someone taking him in public- But one day I was in the kitchen and my son was playing with my roommates dog outside. It was a high fenced in yard and I could just peak out of the kitchen window and see them playing. I went back to the dishes- looked away just minutes and when I looked the gate was open and both dog and my two ye old was gone. The panic I felt was like soul death- I ran out screaming and crying- called the cops- ran up to strangers- tons of people looking- one person spotted a dog barking and running wildly back and forth from a backyard to someone's house- I ran down the block and saw my neighbors dog and he showed me to where my son was. Here a teenager had gone in our fenced in yard- picked up my son and left the gate open and the dog followed and freaked out. Lord knows what a teen boy wanted with my son- that dog saved his life!

Dogs are amazing. I have adopted abused dogs for years. They are always afraid, some to the point of becoming paralyzed at certain things. But in time, they learn that they are loved. It can take years; but always, they learn.

I've never been betrayed by any of my dogs, they've always been happy to see me even when I came home at any hour, no matter what, they've always been happy to see me. Heck, even once saving my life from a knife weilding car jacker....
What's so hard for me though is whenever they depart this world it seems they take a really big piece of my heart with them!

I think she may have referring to the loyalty of dogs to their owners in general compared to that of cats. Not that cats don't love their owners but dogs in general will deliberately and actively commit and strive to remain loyal to their owners more than cats.
Again I'm generalizing, but this is observed more frequently.

The dog was there, not a god. The parents encouraged the relationship and valued AC. A functioning god would save lots of drowning children and abused children. It's okay if this is a fantastic outcome. It doesn't have to be a miracle to be wonderful. It's in a Chesapeake Bay Retrievers DNA to fetch from the water. This special dog thought on his own to save his boy. The parents should be proud of themselves too. They raised them both. This might get some hate but you don't have to believe in gods to be amazed at life.
