I also love the fact that Matt Talbott hasn't changed his main guitar his entire Hum career. Love how that Les Paul is all road worn and it still fucking puts out.
These boys are insanely underrated.. so heavy yet so catchy and melodic. Nobody did it like Hum. Nobody does it like Hum...and nobody will ever do it like Hum.
@@noughiphiet I wish they'd play again too, but honestly I think it would be too hard for them without Bryan. Its different when someone fills in because he isn't available, verse him being gone. We can dream though.
@@isleofthecheetah I don't think they can write any more albums without him. It wouldn't be the same. But he does a good job of replicating those drum parts, so live shows would be cool.

Tim Lash absolutely murders this show. Unbelievable technical prowess and very interesting and clever lead lines. He's up there with the greats. No one can touch him (almost).
I saw a Hum show many years ago and after the show had the honor of meeting Tim. He is a monster on guitar. I was impressed by how humble he was. Talked to us like we were just ordinary guys at the convenience store.

Boy With Stick deserves some frigging love. Honestly my favorite Hum song and it is not even on an album. I like to add it as the opener to You'd Prefer An Astronaut and it makes a great album even greater.
I wish these guys would play in IL some time soon. I seen them around 97. I left a girlfriend after the concert. She was mad that I was enjoying the show and not paying attention to her. I think I would leave another girl to see them again! LOL:)
Every so often I think about which song is the better album closer. I Hate it Too (not the actual closer but the one I consider to be), The Scientists, or Shapeshifter. Shapeshifter just ends so softly and suddenly I think it beats the others since it truly feels like a progression of the band in all facets. Man, RIP Bryan, but I really hope this isn't the end for Hum :(
Gerken told me that he wanted to write completely new songs with hum. But it seems like a couple songs are getting dusted off... inklings and cloud city possibly?
I am happy that everyone else who posted had the same thoughts that the world is ok again knowing that good bands have started playing shows again. There is hope in the world again.
Thank you so much for this! means a lot, could not make it to the show, and this video feels as if anyone who missed it now has chance to be part of it :)
After 20 years, this was my (along with my brother and like 5-6 of our friends) first time seeing HUM live. I really thought the day would never come, but it did. We were all able to even talk to Matt after the show. He seemed impressed that there were HUM fans from Guam lol... Got to see them in Pomona a year after this show with Bryan St. Pere back on drums and it just seemed even better! I even got Matt and Bryan to sign my copy of Fillet Show which surprised both of them hahaha! Here's hoping for another show in 2017!!!
I fuckin love this band!! I only got to see them once in Houston at Fitzgeralds when they was releasing Downward is Heavenward, hopefully they'll make their way back down here sometime soon. One of my favorite shows ever right up there with the Death to the Pixies tour!!
Used to go see these guys EVERY time they came to St. Louis. First time was at the old nasty Cicero's basement bar. Last time was over in Belleville Il. just before they broke up.
+buzzcrushtrendkill I believe that I read that he is really focusing on family and was not interested in any reunion tours. No animosity or drama, just focusing on being dad.
+buzzcrushtrendkill Gene is right. St. Pere participated in the occasional reunion shows they played over the years, but a tour was out of the picture with his job and family.
Yeah, he was. But I'm honestly glad the band picked Gerken as St. Pere's replacement-he's a monster drummer in his own right. Plus, he's always been a huge fan of Hum, so this is like a dream gig for him.
the electro harmonix bi-phase. . th-cam.com/video/R501BFbmsZw/w-d-xo.html ...such a delightful effect. this band changed the way i approached music. such humble, down-to-earth guys, i loved meeting them. bless them, and their shimmering wall of distorted guitars. thank you for the upload, Mr author.
Faaaaaaaaak, How come there's no pit during the "Pod"? The Drums and Bass alone throws me into air guitar mode. Consummate musicians. You can even see the potential back with 'Fillet Show' if you can even find that one.
just skip ahead to 17:16. I mean thats what most of you came here for. Personally, I think the whole damn show kicked ass. These guys need to get back in it and try again. Lots of untapped potential here still.
+NIVO1972 I would imagine anyone who is taking the time to search for Hum in 2016 is a fan of all of their music. If it were 1995, then definitely start at 17:16. But what a great band, all of their music is great.
I also love the fact that Matt Talbott hasn't changed his main guitar his entire Hum career. Love how that Les Paul is all road worn and it still fucking puts out.
Same with Allen from Shiner and his Tele
Rocking that orange rack since at least 1998

They're the US version of Swervedriver....UK band underrated in the UK.
@@Procidentia Lone Star is one of the best songs i've heard on the last 10 years, no joke.

I'm impressed with how good a job that other drummer did. He played all Bryan St. Pierre's parts perfectly.

I was about to comment this, it was so good
Tim Lash still looks like a teenager and still produces SO MUCH SOUND!!!

I *LOVE* that *no one* has disliked this. I pray that no one ever does. Such an amazing and amazingly underrated band. I've enjoyed them for years.
Watching this in 2020 and there are now 7 dislikes. So we know there are at least 7 tasteless people out there somewhere! Lol

Grew up watching these guys in Champaign. Fucking amazing band. Love them
I was at this show. Crazy it came up in my feed!
before i die i want to see hum live, i will make that my goal
Please Hum make a new album or at least an EP.
+Jacko Reaper I agree! They are so amazing live, even now, it blows the studio albums out of the water!!!
i got alot of influence from them. they're the reason why im more creative with the guitar.

sweet i can't wait

I am watching this on 9/16/2021. Six years to the day when they played!
20 years later and Stars still sounds like how they played it in 1995 in 2015!
Favorite band in the world! It was fun learning all of these songs. Tim Lash tore it down! He was a hugh influence on my guitar style!
mine too

Oof
Well it’s out now boys
And its put now and amazing!

If Failure recorded another album recently, their brothers from Hum should fucking do the same. Long live to Space Rock. HUM RULES
rumor has it...
If only Hum had the $$ backing that Failure does..
I love this band. Way before my time but great music.
Way before their time as well. I grew up in this era, in their hometown, and they were under-appreciated even there.
"Suicide Machine to start off? Fuck yeah dude" Literally 10 seconds in 😆🙏
those drums! what a beast. so technical without showing off
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Thank you for uploading!!!! Makes my year.

Does it get any better than the ending of I Hate It Too? So heavy.
I Fucking Love This Band!
Even with Matt blocking him, you can totally tell that is Gerkin by the cymbal hits. So good.
They were YEARS ahead of their time. You’d Prefer an Astronaut would still hold its own against any “rock” album of the last 30 yrs.
I think it's awesome that they're still playing live shows. New album please!!!
This makes me so happy. Great recording. Puts my faith back in the internet. Thanks for posting...
That is motherfucking rock and roll!!!! I miss these fucking guys! Always loved this band. They are fucking rock scientists!

That drum beat, the wall of guitar sound, Matt's soaring vocals in the final chorus.
"They sound so fuckin' good, CHEEZUS!"
