GR221 THRU-HIKE (MALLORCA, FEBRUARY 2022)

A GR221 Thru-Hike on Mallorca in February 2022.
Filmed on my rubbish Chinese phone.
The GR221 is roughly 140km long and takes about 5-6 days to complete.
The trail follows old mule and worker’s paths between villages, taking you through the scenic Mallorca countryside with citrus and olive terrasses and plenty of vistas of the Atlantic Ocean.
There are ‘refugis’ and other accommodation spaced out evenly along the trail as well as plenty of opportunities for resupplying food and water.
PLEASE NOTE that wild camping is technically illegal on Mallorca, and I do not openly recommend or encourage it. Do it at your own risk of encountering angry landowners or park rangers.

Hej fed video. Planlægger turen til oktober, solo vandring. Hvad kræver den fysisk? Har gået den franske Camino fra sjpdp, så har da lidt bakke erfaring 😁 og hvor godt er den skiltet? (Altså kan jeg nøjes med all-trails eller er det nødvendigt med fysisk kort?) 😊

Er der vandrehjem mellem alle etaperne og er det muligt at sætte det sammen med 6 dages vandring uden telt og kun sove på vandrehjem?
Hvad koster overnatning og skal man booke på forhånd?

Der er vandrehjem på alle etaper. Ruten er nemlig lavet med vandrehjemmene i tankerne, og det er faktisk slet ikke tilladt at overnatte i telt, fordi alt landet er privatejet.
Kan anbefale Cicerones guidebog (som kan lånes på biblioteket), hvor der er beskrivelse af ruten samt overnatningsmuligheder.

De er okay, men ikke 'gode'. Man skal i hvert fald lige orientere sig på et kort for at sørge for at være så langt fra bebyggelse som muligt, når man planlægger et potentielt camp-spot.

On day-1 it was warm enough for t-shirt. It's cold in the mornings and evenings in February.

@@petergrove1917 Thanks. Did Rota Vincentina in Feb and was walking in tshirt for several days, of course mornings chilly and evenings really cold (dawn jacket required). And now looking for a place and trek for next Feb to escape and 'break' the continental winter for a week or two, but not a big fan of Camino in Portugal again or Spain, looking for something closer. Maybe the GR221 will be good though.
