Somebody get these two a philanthropists of the year award. Helping millions of people around the world unabashed and completely free and open. Another great video from you two 😊
My son is 16 and is now in a wheelchair due to an autoimmune disease. I know he has tons of questions. Thank you all for this video and your suggestions!
We live in NZ and my husband is paraplegic. We were so blessed to have so much support in everything except sexual function and intimacy - absolutely zero support from everyone we asked for help. Glad we've figured out what works for us now but it's been a ton of trial and error as we're trying to get pregnant too. So thank you for making this video! It's needed!
Wow, why is that in your opinion? I always assumed it is kind of normal part of recovery after injury or part of general assistence for disabled people or interabled couples. I mean there is therapy and treatment for all kinds of other sexual issues... Happy to hear though that you were able to figure something out for yourselves!
@@suann9790 no idea, it was almost like they didn't expect him to even try to have sexual intimacy as part of post-SCI life. Other SCI friends found the same. Otherwise the support for everything else has been incredible
Hi Cole and Charisma. I am actually and Neurology Trauma RN and I find this channel so informative and helpful. This is also giving me awesome insight, in what my patient’s may struggle with after they are discharged. Really appreciate this personnel info.
It's very refreshing that you 2 could be honest but also remain private. It's cool to open up people who may still be in the dark about how it is for couples in this situation.
I was with dream girl before my injury last year and we could no longer continue the relationship I believe mostly due to lack of intimacy, I still haven’t gotten over it honestly but your videos are very informative and appreciated. Cole your wife is beautiful, hope to find someone like her who will love me like that
I don’t comment a lot but I was so impressed and informed by this video. I don’t have a disability and am not dating a person with a disability but watching your videos make it so much less intimidating. If I were to meet someone who has an SCI I feel like, because I’m more educated thru watching these videos, I’d be much less reserved in dating someone with an SCI. I have a much clearer picture of what life and dating looks like in the disability world and that itself makes it less scary. You guys did such a great job handling these questions with really articulate information that is easy to consume and opens up the possibilities for a lot of people. Thank you for sharing in such a comfortable way. ❤
Thank you guys for being so open about intimacy in your relationship even though you don't have to be. You both continue to educate and inspire people by being so open about your relationship. Much love to you both 💕 ❤
Thank Y'all so much! My husband went to Shepherd too in 2008 and he's a C-5,6 incomplete quadriplegic. There's a Peer Support Group that meets monthly now at Shepherd where they discuss intimacy regularly and are extremely open to answer any question that comes up. We used to go often because we live close to Shepherd and we always said my husband and I were an open book so ask away. Hahaha
It's called curiosity. But that aside, it's also educational for people that have similar experiences because these are topics that are often not discussed openly
I remember having strong headaches during and after very intense orgasms, now I learned it is called autonomic dysreflexia . I guess it can happen to anyone, whether disable or not. All the best to both of you and keep trying and exploring.... it is worth it.
Yes, headaches after an orgasm can definitely happen to anyone but autonomic dysreflexia is specific to those with a spinal cord injury. So if you don’t have an SCI, then it may be something different. Thanks for watching 🥰
Y'all are amazing for your transparency! I had a relationship with a quadrupoliguc and experienced much of what you talked about. Thank you for being an amazing source for a topic that can be taboo to discuss!
Congratulations on 1M subscribers!! Thank you for your willingness to share your lives with millions of people all over the world! You're doing wonderful work advancing the cause for all people living with disabilities!
1M subscribers?!! Yabberdabberdoo!!! 😂 Excellent subject management. You handled that topic nicely. Like you, others in similar situations will have to kind of figure out what works for them. Truly loving each other goes a long ways. Knowing that you’re accepted and loved is big.
Haven’t even gone through the whole video but I had to say, thank you for being so open about this topic. I work in healthcare and I think this is so helpful to know in order to take better care of my disabled patients.
There is formal education and street/hands on education. Both forms are valid. Your education to make you "expert" came from hands on of being disabled and your partner interacting with you. Great chat well done.
I am loving this conversation you two. One thought I had for facilities with SCI patients or even other disabilities is to have a dedicated number for people to leave their anonymous intimate questions via voicemail then have them addressed in the newsletter? Oh yeah and congrats on hitting a million subscribers. You guys totally deserve it. You always put out great content. Love ya.🎉❤🎊👍👏😁
I like the way you two handled the series of intimacy questions as it relates to your unique situation. Just proves love always finds a way. Another great video.

YALL HIT 1 MILLION!!!!!!! Yay! I’m so proud of y’all and how far y’all have come. I’ve been watching for a little over 4 years. I can’t wait for the 1 million subscribers video! Much love from Alabama❤
Thank you! Part ✌️As a retired OT I’m sorry my peers didn’t address your questions, concerns, fears around intimacy .. I was fortunate to have an experienced OT mentor encourage me to address the topic of intimacy with my clients. Sex & intimacy are clearly an ADL and a topic OTs should be discussing 😊 Cool idea Charisma for an anonymous way to submit intimacy questions ❤
Hello Cole and Charisma. I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I am hooked!😊 Watching you guys brought so many memories I had buried. I used to date a guy who was shot by his stepfather and was paralyzed just like Cole. He could just move his wrists as well. We met about 2 weeks before he got shot. I hope that we do not just focus on the SCI patient but also include their significant others (parents, siblings, spouses, etc.) who are caring for them, who may also want to know about intimacy issues, and who could also provide information to patients once they, themselves, are informed as well. They would be good targets for the anonymous intimacy question box.
Y’all are answering these questions so responsibly! I’m sure it’s going to benefit a lot of people. I am a female quad. I had a very unexpected episode with AD mid intimacy quite a few years after my injury. It hadn’t ever happened before but the pain was so bad I still fear it in the back of my mind every time we are intimate. One minute you are experiencing the best feeling and then all of a sudden, BAMM! The worst feeling to date, by far! The pressure in my head was so intense all I knew is it felt better when I tried to squeeze the sides of it so that’s what we did for a few minutes until everything calmed down. I’ve seen some people get prescribed to a mild sedative or low dose blood pressure medication just to take like an hour before and they say it works fine for them. I’m SO thankful that I haven’t had it happen in a long time but like I said, I’m still afraid that it will at any time. Btw I haven’t ever had AD for any reason other than when I had an orgasm but once it happens YOU KNOW! There’s no confusion about what is going on because it’s so intense and painful. Well, for me it was. Did I mention how thankful I am that it doesn’t happen anymore?!🥴

THANK YOU GUYS FOR GIVING REAL ANSWERS. 🎉🎉❤❤❤ I've watched another channel that just keeps saying the disabled partner has sexual function but they don't explain anything about how the both of them function together. Happy that you'll are sharing. Many people you become disable feel like there life is over. Over the years I've witness many give up. Your channel is so helpful.
I randomly came across your page maybe 2-3 years ago. I started watching videos out of curiosity. I am an able bodied individual and I never really thought much about what a interabled relationship would look like but I’m so glad you guys are so informative while keep your privacy. I have a friend who is not fully able bodied and I sent that website because I found it to be very cool to help out with levels of intimacy. I wasn’t fully knowledgeable to answer their questions so these videos are so cool. Especially because I never know if this may end up being my future situation this is awesome to be able to educate myself on.
You're a honest and loving couple. I've been a subscriber from the beginning of your channel. ❤ Congratulations on a million subscribers. STAY POSITIVE!!

Found y’all through Shane and Hannah’s videos and I’ve done Uber type work literally almost every single day for the longest time and after finding their videos and falling in love with them I had to take the day off to binge both of y’all’s channels ❤ so much I’ve learned today, so much to love about y’all and each others perspectives. I am so loving you guys! I did watch your part 1. You guys are so so cute and honestly that big question about the affection ad intimacy, intamcy does come through love and atteaction and you guys definitely show no lack of that! ❤ Its nice that I stumbled on you guys!! The world that doesnt know of the SCI world, your channel gives so much insite!
Hey guys! I'm also a fellow SCI that was at Shepherd. I'm part of a disabled couple and it's so good to see more people talking about this. We both have SCIs but they are so different with my being a more complete injury and him being an incomplete injury. I've also dated a non disabled person and another differently disabled person. Everyone is so different. It would be great if more people were more open minded and communicative. I've been looked at in public like I had five heads kissing my also disabled man because I guess people don't think we have value or anything to give in a relationship. I've also had people say things like it's so great that you two found each other to be with, as if no one else would have us. 🤨 I would always rather people ask me their questions like why I'm in a chair and so on than just sit and stare. At least they can learn something then 😂. Great informative video and I do remember being in a female sexuality class at shepherd back in 2011 but I was also on the adult floor bc I was 21. It was still very limited information then but better than nothing. I do remember looking things up back then and what I mostly found was about SCI and male sexuality so it was very hard to find much from the female side besides a video featuring a few ladies talking about their experiences. And as you know all injuries are different. So after that you're left with trial and error 😂. Luckily time and finding a great partner can help. Looking forward to the next video.
Perhaps a pamphlet which would reference sites or resources for people with spinal cord injuries, could help open up the discussion. Given out by physical therapy clinics, hospitals etc .Because I'm sure there are a lot of people who have questions but don't know how or who to ask.
Congratulations on your well deserved One million subscribers. Stay positive and be blessed. Have a positive feeling that you will deliver our little grand for your wedding anniversary. To God be the glory! ❤❤
This was so, so interesting. You two shredded so much insight into everything. I'm not disabled nor was my husband who passed in 2021, but I really enjoyed listening to it.

I like this couple so much better .
Congrats on almost one million 🎉 praying for you guys always lots of blessings 🙏😘
You guys are awesome, even if you don't have a disability, it makes you more aware of how to handle situations ,with kindness
