i was just watching the joan didion documentary and was like... wait, why are there no documentaries on angela davis, bell hooks, audre lorde, assata etc etc?
Unfortunately, many of the gains people like Audre Lorde helped make, was "rolled back" .... mainly by the media (...it creates our world view) and by the isolation of Social Media and the Internet. I know how old this next comment sounds, but I grew up in the 50s, 60s, and went into the military in 1972. The music industry chose to push THE WORST versions of Rap and Hip Hop. Look at Black people before Rap and after. Two very, VERY cultures.
The real problem is self sabotage due to a lack of self respect. Helping each other to self respect, self discipline, self reliance and self determination is the key to develop a real improvement.
