  • As clear as the form of mud.
    For a serviceable translation of the dialogue, see Keith Whitaker, Plato's Parmenides (Focus Press, 1996). For an excellent interpretation, see Alex Priou, Becoming Socrates (University of Rochester Press, 2018).

    This is profoundly helpful for a new student of Plato. This channel would be immensely helpful for the revival of traditional polytheism.

      Thank you. On the subject of polytheism be sure to check out Plato's Laws, which even later monotheists called "the book on prophecy and the divine law."

    Parmenides: illusion everything

    • @platosworld
      @platosworld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      If that's true, then illusion is not everything: there's also truth.

      Why, according to Parmenides, do we experience change, motion and plurality?

    • @platosworld

      @@dubbelkastrull Check out Parmenides' poem (fragments) for his own view. Short answer is that we are deceived by opinion; these "experiences" are appearances. But then the question is why is there deception, opinion, appearance. It seems the nature of our openness to truth that we are also beset by untruth.
