Am I the only one who's heart broke apart when watching The Devils Foot and Holmes just straight up screamed 'John' into Watsons face? Nevertheless, an awesome and adorable video :`D
It is certainly one of the gifts of Brett's acting that we are given the glorious, silken cascade if his beautiful speaking voice. With thanks to his heritage and more than a little to Eton, Brett doesn't deny us any of the verbal skills so perfectly suited to Holmes. This charming video is a playful nod to a dazzling actor having the time of his life.
It gave him a bit of concern early in his career, when roles were going to "tough boys" with regional accents - and it did consign him to a lot of period pieces. I for one, however, am glad it did because he suited those roles so well. From Max DeWinter to the Good Soldier to Affairs of the Heart, to his comic turns in An Ideal Husband, the Rivals, and On Approval - he could transport you back in time. It's probably appropriate to point out, too, that Brett's perfect diction didn't come naturally. He had to have his tongue tie clipped (a minor procedure but SO important) at 17 and then take speech therapy to learn to say his "r' and "s" sounds. Before that he couldn't even pronounce his own name, and so was the object of much teasing at school. I'm so glad that Granada set Holmes in the late 19th, early 20th Century and didn't update it. It allows us to see Brett use his brilliant acting skills - and it let him interact more with the horses he loved so much.
@@MrMaluraoj it’s all up to interpretation! some people like them as lovers, others as besties, and others as somewhere in between. I personally see them as queerplatonic partners in most adaptations (particular Granada) but however people wanna interpret is valid!! just don’t put down others’ interpretations because yours are different
@@aw8885 But that interpretation is just plain incorrect. Watson is 100% heterosexual, and Holmes is completely Asexual. "All emotions, that one in particular (love), were abhorrent to his cold, precise but admirably balanced mind"
@@ebrandt9698 if we’re using quotes, perhaps you should reread The Three Garridebs: “It was worth a wound-it was worth many wounds- to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask. The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain.” Like I said before, everything is up to interpretation. Saying one interpretation is absolute doesn’t do anybody any good. If you want to interpret Holmes as aroace and Watson as straight, go for it. I love aroace Holmes, too. But putting down other people’s interpretations is pointless. Multiple readings of a text can coexist. (also, people can be asexual without being aromantic. I’m assuming you meant aroace in your reply, but for future reference :) )
OMG! I love this video so much! 🥰 Thank you! So funny. LOL! 😂🤣❤️💖 You forgot one thing though. Q is for “Quite so.” Holmes said the words quite often. The Dancing Men episode, for example. 😉
Okay, loved this. But M is for “my collection of M’s in a fine one”which includes Moran and Moriarty. A I feel like R should be Reichenbach, W should absolutely be for Watson, and there were a couple others in there I thought could have had better examples, but the idea is amazing and your video is hilarious. I’d love it if you did another one just like it with different examples, I can’t get enough. I was homeschooled, so I tell people I was ‘Holmes-schooled’ and then send them this video :P
Watson: **breathe**
Holmes: Excellent Watson!
Yes indeed - both an excellent Watson ! Fascinating to see these two actors approach the part with parallel skill and finesse.
I was expecting “MRRRSSS HUUUUDDDSON!” for M and “Watson!” for W.
That Mrsssss Hudsooooooooon scene was amazing indeed 👌🏽
00:27
Watson:Does domething
Holmes:Excellent ,Watson!

that scene is basically the only thing keeping me sane!
I ugly cried when he called him John
My favorite is definitely O for “Oh oh oh oh...” from The Naval Treaty episode. Haha! So cute! 😂🤣❤️💖
I have always loved the way he says nevertheless to Lestrade. ❤️ And also any other thing he says and does. I'm a hopeless case.
Since yesterday, I am now too
The same with me. Hopelessly in love with him ❤️
I just found this video but I'm a Jeremy Brett's Sherlock fanboy since like 4-5 years here. Love the way he embodied Holmes...in everything.
He had such eloquent impeccable speech. His voice - and superb acting skill - is greatly missed.

This was so funny and cute. What a beautiful homage!
You Sir or Madam do not know how much these videos have made my day.
This is the cutest thing ever, I love ittttttt♥️♥️♥️♥️
Hahaha 😂😂, so hilarious yet adorable 🥰, thank you for teaching us the alphabetical lesson from this magnificent Sherlock Holmes !❤️
An absolute masterpiece
Thank you so much
Just imagine if one time, instead of "my friend and colleague, dr. Watson" Holmes completly casually says "my lover and colleague"
He sometimes throws in an “intimate” just to keep us on our toes
They are not lovers, they are the best of friends.
