I was especially happy when you and your brother explained the different notch cut and back cut technique based on the species and condition of the tree. It's so nice to see some real expertise on TH-cam!

I am a West Coast Canadian Faller and I have 28 years experience and I approve of all your falling techniques . When we are cutting Government Wood we have to take the undercut from the stump so as to maximize the amount of wood on the butt cut! Cheers

Love your brother's logging videos! They give good sound mechanics for how and why you should do what you do in different circumstances when cutting down trees. Most guys think you just cut and get out of the way and you realize how many people are injured or killed every year, ( both professional loggers and amateurs) felling trees. Its experience and science because you have to read each tree differently every time, every cut.

It is nice to watch an expert do his job well. Your brother's falling wedge and hinge were spot on. I would like to learn some of the knots and hook ups that he used up in the tree. Your videos are so much more interesting than most other channels because you take the time to shoot multiple shots from many different angles and then edit them to make an interesting and informative story. Very professional! Simeon, if you are this good now I can't wait until you get past the learning curve (LOL)!

    Beautiful.
Seeing a clear and orderly process to fell a tree is a great pleasure.
The disaster video's that are common on youTube make me cringe then feel relieved if they don't "fail".
Watching this sequence of video's is a pleasure and, honestly, as entertaining as the "disaster" video's.
    Well done and very enlightening!

I think your brother liked the coming down part a bit. (Grin) This was interesting. I have 4 trees on my small lot that are going to have to come down soon. This will come in handy for that, I won't be doing the felling! At my age and condition that would not be good. I do like it when a tree comes down right on target. We lost 3 very old walnuts about 7 years ago in an bad ice storm. It is amazing the amount of light that now reaches the floor. Of course we won't miss the 1000s of walnuts, mainly because there are still 4 or 5 in the yard.

People who don't like seeing trees cut down are generally members of one of two groups: Either they are merely uninformed and uneducated about responsible forest management and so do not understand the necessity for regular cutting; or they have been jaded by seeing people irresponsibly cutting trees and so they simply assume that anyone cutting trees must therefore be irresponsible.

Not because I am a woman but because I too am scared of heights. I fell off a cliff when I was much younger, so ain't to fond of heights. But I love mountains just don't mean I will climb them. But I will go to tops to see but nope no trees for me. You guys work great together. Your brother sure loves his work and knows just the right things to do for safety. That's awesome.
