The joy I feel stumbling on your channel cannot be fathomed. I've been watching quite a number of your travel vlogs for the past few hours and it got me hooked!!!
Sorry to hear you have all been sick, glad you're on the mend now. Wow..you really have embraced the African culture when it comes to eating the insects!! That's where I draw the line..lol The day out looks like a fun time, the kids were enjoying it a lot. The girls hair looked lovely as well. Nice family day out. ❤
I'm a new viewer. Anu, I'm so happy you speak Yoruba to your children and that they respond in Yoruba. I grew up with my parents not really demanding that I respond to them in Ìgbo, so I never spoke it. Fast forward to the future and the birth of my daughter (2020), my brother and I made a pact that we would start speaking Igbo to our children. Now my daughter is 4 and we communicate in Ìgbo. I'm so happy I continued to keep going even though I felt like giving up a lot at the beginning. Now my daughter speaks Ìgbo to me, her grandparents, my niece, and her uncle and I couldn't be happier ❤ Wishing your family love and growth, peace, harmony, and prosperity.
Welcome to our channel o! I love your story, it is such an inspiration! 😍 It isn't easy o, but once they have it, it can open doors for them in the future. Huge kudos to you who never spoke it growing up to be speaking it now to you daughter. Such an amazing story! Thank you for sharing 😊 🙏💝

Wow! You and your husband are really doing great. You speak yoruba ato them and your husband speak spanish to them and they understand both. Me gusta tú familia, yo aprendiendo cómo usar son palabras con tus películas. Muchas gracias
You're right, vegetarians do eat eggs and dairy, but we're not vegetarians or vegans, we just eat nutritious, plant-based, SOS-Free food (except for maybe a fish once a year or insects once in a blue moon). One of the joys of eating plant-based is that your focus is nutrition, so once you learn what isn't so good for you, you find other, more nutritious foods to take its place. There's no "cheating" because it's not a diet, it's just a lifestyle where you keep your health in mind and how your body responds to foods. Some foods cause long-term issues (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, ...) or even immediate short term issues (swelling, inflammation, high blood pressure, bags under your eyes, ...), but it's your choice to eat or not (and experience those symptoms or not), because there are no rules, just a guiding principle of overall health and wellness. It's about being educated and knowing what your choices mean for your body and your overall health. What you do with that knowledge is up to you 😊
Hello beautiful family. I enjoyed your blog. Moma looks amazing. Quick question. How do you make your bean soup so thick gravy consistency without oils, bouillon, and with some sweetness?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Hello beautiful family , I admire your bravery and determination to live your life as simple as you could leaving behind the luxury of America and settling in an entirely new territory.. Thank you for your concern! It's important to always be watchful of how those who are working in domestic positions are treated, especially nowadays with so many migrant workers being exploited all over the more developed world. We'll talk more about the specific culture here in our next vlog, and in particular our family culture and dynamics, and how we came to have people helping us out with childcare, etc. from our community. Well done guys, if vegetarians can take locusts(esunsun) then they should be able to take eggs from birds.
Hello beautiful family. I enjoyed your blog. Moma looks amazing. Quick question. How do you make your bean soup so thick gravy consistency without oils, bouillon, and with some sweetness?

It's the natural starch in the matooke, cassava, sweet potato, etc. that break down in the stew. Irish potatoes would do the same 😊

Hello 👋 😊
Hi ,pls can you share the yoruba book link.thank you
Yes, you can look up the author, Anike Fatunase, on Amazon or eBay. She has a lot of simple simple books for children.
Locusts are different, from Grasshoppers.
Grasshoppers are edible, locusts are not.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Hello beautiful family , I admire your bravery and determination to live your life as simple as you could leaving behind the luxury of America and settling in an entirely new territory.. May God bless all your efforts and prosper you all in your new sojourn. However, in my opinion, I cringed for safety concern watching the kids standing so close to the cooker when Dada was cooking. This is not judgemental at all, and I understand you might have removed the potential harzards but my observations are concerns over the unpredictability of risks and hazards of hot cookers and the safety of your beautiful kids. I was kind of, getting anxious watching how closely they were to the stove. Perhaps you could reflect over this. ❤
Thank you for your encouragement, and your concern! 😊🙏
As for reflecting on parenting strategies, sure! First off, these are very different all across the world, but all with the ultimate focus of protecting children from serious injury and death. Although safety for children can be achieved through extreme "child-proofing", it can equally, or even more sustainably, be achieved via education and experience at a young age, as many parents in less-privileged parts of the world can tell you. A burned finger of a curious child who wants to test Daddy and Mommy's warning will heal without a trace, but a burned face, or a burned down house due to an innocent lack of experience/lack of education will leave a much worse scar or can even lead to death.
Many people cook around here using open fires on the ground, easily accessible by crawling babies. Because babies will crawl close, extra care must be taken, but as soon as the children are old enough to be taught (different for every child), then the same level of caution is no longer needed (though reminders help reinforce the lessons learned). If you caution a grandmother around here about the baby that is toddling around the fire, she will say that the child "can't get burned", because they know better.
Likewise, the earlier children feel confident around cookers (rather than fearful of or apathetically distanced from them), the sooner they want to volunteer to help out and the sooner they learn how to cook, which is a necessary life skill for survival. Then, if they get burnt, they take responsibility for it as part of their learning experience, just as an adult first learning to cook would do. It's really quite amazing to watch!
