Kayabuki No Sato | Miyama's Thatched-Roof Village | Nantan City, Kyoto

  • Located in Miyama, just north of Kyoto City, Kayabuki no Sato is a small hamlet of traditional thatched-roof houses surrounded by tall mountains and clear rivers. While there are more famous thatched-roof communities such as Gifu’s Shirakawa-go and Gokayama and Fukushima’s Ouchijuku, these Kansai-based farmhouses are unique for their innovative fire-safety system.

      Hi Sherry! Thank you for watching my video. With regards to your question, I visited Kayabuki No Sato last Oct 2019, just before the pandemic. I was not making TH-cam videos yet back then so for the most part, I only had pictures. 😊
