  • Hello to everybody.
There are bose quitecontrol 30 headphones in my hand. Its warranty has just expired and the left headphone has started to make scratching noise.
My curiosity made me find the source of the problem. So i removed the rubber cover and saw this. This is the wire defect and i experimentally found iut that it causes problems with a left headphone sound.
It is clear, that this is a construction flaw, and that it sooner or later appears in every headphones of this model.
Lets bend it and see what will happen.
This defect appears when people bend a backside of their headphones in order to put it on or to remove it.
As you can see, the right headphone is directly connected to the board, but the left one is connected by this wire, therefore problems start with it.
it cost more than 300 dollars for a such bad quality. Do not buy it.
    Thank you.

Thanks for the explanation SG. I have had mine for 3 years and it has been absolutely brilliant in the ANC department. Mic has always been disappointing with callers asking if I am sitting in a well! The inevitable left earpiece crackling reared its head for the first time a few days ago. Contacted Bose but they are offering me a newer style rather than a repair (a minor discount added to the new pair). Will look into it further as I really like them.

200% agree with you , I have Qc15 still work not any issues, but Qc 20 Qc30 have noise issues on used of a period of time. Bose's products quality is increasingly unworthy of the price

Bose QC30 - Never buy this product as this has a design flaw. After some months you may notice noise coming out from the left earphone. The reason might be because this earphone has control panel on right side and left side is connected through the neck band. After some use of neck band itself you might notice getting disturb noise on your left earphone. I visited their store to repair it after one year and they can’t do anything unless you do trade with them to buy same new product where you get 20% off. Still you will get the same new design flaw earphone which might damage in couple of months. Worst product. Mic is also very bad. Only the good part I noticed is ANC. Personally I never recommend this design flaw product. Thanks.

I had the same problem, 3 months after the warranty ended. I contacted Bose and they said that unfortunately the warranty has expired but they would sell me another pair for the discounted price of £200!!! These were the second pair I had, the first pair had to go back because the rubber was coming away from the right hand side at the controls, another common fault, luckily it was still under warranty. Just waiting on some Sony wi-1000xm2 to arrive, hopefully they will last a bit longer.

Same problem (greetings from México). Two times: first warranty cover and replace it, second now (but out of warranty). The same noise in left side. I will contact Bose, but I not have any hope. I will not buy bose anymore. And for 300 USD! :(

This flaw is the only issue I have with the product. Mine just started with the left ear static for the 4th time and now I’m going to have send it back tomorrow. I still have the warranty (which they’ve renewed every time I’ve these back, but for $300, I shouldn’t HAVE to send them back once a year to get a set that works. It takes weeks total, one to ship and an other one for delivery. If these weren’t an expensive gift that most of my family members pitched in to give me, I’d cut my losses and look for something better. The sound quality is amazing, but why I should have to deal the wiring problem?

I think it’s terrible that after 4 years, Bose has not spent money on re-engineering and fixing the issue. I can’t find a better substitute for these. Just tried the newest earbuds from Bose and right out of the box, the static on them was almost as bad as the cracking/popping of this QC30.
