Going through a house after a fire is definitely rough. I've been there, so I understand. From my experience, you might be surprised at what can be saved. The photo albums that are charred, on the outside, might have actually protected the photos inside. At least that was my experience. Since they are so tightly closed, the photos could well be intact. A tub of soapy water, a lot of Formula 409 and some scrubbing was my route, and it could surprise you at how many things can be saved. I was certainly surprised at what I was able to save after my house burned. You two being safe is, of course, definitely the most important thing, and I know people say, "It's just things.", but they are things that make you happy, some have memories attached to them, some could be family items, so it is perfectly OK to cry over them. I know it is a roller coaster going through a house after a fire. It's like a "Twilight Zone" feeling. My parents and my grandmother, (all of them gone now), put in a lot of time, work and money helping me remodel the house I lost to fire, and I think that was the worse part of the loss for me. Everywhere I looked in that house I could see where their hands had been, and had been there with love. Thank God you two are safe, and prayers are going up for you 🙏
True things can be replaced but some cannot. That’s the heartache and so understandable, Tammy. Cry, cry, get mad, yell, cry some more because we all understand. So glad you have many of your photos that can be reprinted. That ol’ rain has bad timing. 🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼
Tam Tam ~ true they may be just THINGS as you say, but they were YOUR things,YOUR memories and you have every right to feel the way you do now, so sorry for all you are going through ~ miss you all so much and as always sending hugs, love and prayers 💕🙏💞
I know it’s painful to see your home like this 😔. Somehow though, among the ashes, I see a happy cherished family lived in this home & my heart swells with gratitude knowing all are safe 🥰. Sending continued prayers your way as you push forward to a bright & happy future together 🙏.
Ginger, luckily my fabric all my vintage fabric is still intact. My sewing room was in a whole Nother building where I do hair, so I will be venturing in doing a lot more sewing now and making things for a while until I build up my vintage business of hard goods again.
Grief is so very personal. Everyone does it differently and within their own time frame. Whatever you are feeling is normal for you. Sending many ((hugs)) and continued 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Of everything you have lost, the personal memories are the hardest to deal with. The collectibles can still be replaced over time. Fire is the greatest fear all collectors may have with the abundance of stuff we gather. No life was lost and that is most important. The only material lost of which I have endured, was while trying to move in a 30 day time frame, I had a heart attack and ended up in the hospital. While there my Landlord threw alot of my memories into a dumpster. The real valuable antiques bought over 40years he sold in an estate sale told to me by the new house owner. The early personal stuff was the hardest, like two ceramic tree I made and and the family aluminum Christmas tree and my school memories. I was angry for a long time as you may be. I had to tell myself, you can't take it with you. It made me so sad for and David when I saw the aftermath. The photos hurt, knowing you loved your family around you. Hopefully salvaging some things may give you hope. A new day will come and new collections and that house you always wanted. Love and prayers.
Oh Susan that is heart breaking! That makes me want to go find that guy and tell him “how the cow ate the cabbage”! That makes me angry for you. But you are right, we can’t take it with us in the end even though I have joked about taking a u-haul with me. I have read every comment , and you guys have helped me get in the right mind set as hard as that may be. I am working my way there. We feel the love and prayers from everyone. We love you guys!❤️🩹
All your beautiful collections and your children’s pictures, albums, irreplaceable items from family…I felt your sighs and your pain… tears, tears…it’s horrible.😢❤
Though it's heartbreaking and it'll be a lot of work but a lot of stuff looks like it's just going to need some cleaning and will be all good again. I Pray the best over you both. Just be safe when sifting through it all.
So sorry for your loss. You WILL rebuild! So thankful you did not loose any family members. Things can be replaced. I understand what ya'll are going through. I have been through 2 house fires. I learned to not become so attached to material things, they can always be replaced. Prayers for your family.
Tammy & David I know it took a lot of strength & courage for you to walk back into your home amid all the loss & destruction of the fire. Cry first, give yourselves some grace as you push forward to rebuild your lives after this heartbreaking loss. So very thankful y’all were not physically harmed. You are so loved & I am keeping you in my thoughts & prayers ♥️🙏🏼🫶🏼🫂🥰💕🩷
Prayers go out to you and your family thank God you’re safe items can be replaced. Memories will be in your mind forever. Take care hopefully something good comes out of it.
The pictures and family things can't be replaced but you still have the memories. Of course you are upset by all the rest. These were your things, your lives. It's okay to cry, be upset, or even go somewhere out in the country and scream your head off if that would help. But remember, you are alive and breathing and will make new memories with your loved ones. You might be surprised to realize how many pictures you can replace if you check with friends and family to see what everyone has shared with each other over the years and can print for you. We love you two and Jack, and want only the best for you. Don't ever forget that. ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow. What a devastating loss… but amazing too what survived. Can all the bittersweet be melted down to create something new? I bet someone would buy all that up if so. I think we’d be willing to buy a lot of the damaged stuff too… A new form of art. I’m just so sorry Tammy… I felt this video deep in my soul… Your home looked magnificent… Hope you can create a new home Godspeed. ❤
Yes, a glimmer of hope for all our MCM in this video. Thank goodness there is plenty of MCM out there for you to restart… but first comes your health. We are all here with you on your journey. ❤❤❤
My heart breaks for you. I can't even imagine. I'm looking around my house to see what I can send you when you get back on your feet. I know you lost so much of your precious collections. I'm going to start a box for you. This community will help in any way we can. Hugs!❤🙏🙏
I'm so sorry to see so much of your personal things gone. I'd be heartbroken. I am happy to see some collections still there. A few things can be salvaged.
Losing irreplaceable meaningful family belongings is the worse loss of all. Those will never be just things as they are pieces of life shared with people you treasure..... So sorry Tammy and David, this is heartbreaking and bringing it all home for me. Eventually a time will finally come when you won't think about it on a daily basis. Praying for that day to arrive for you soon. Sending hugs and love! 🙏 💔 🙏
Tammy and David Oh my just watched your video. Don't really have the words, to express how difficult it must be how sorry I am. I am praying for you two, its always darkest before the light. Why you have to go thru this only God knows, your name Vintage Rising is fitting You will Rise above this. I don't know you personally I've purchased from you & watched your videos with Scott, Dee and Vinnie. Hearing your voice Tammy fighting back tears, I kept hearing your giggles and fun You always share on videos. THOSE DAYS WILL COME AGAIN YOU GUYS HAVE A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY & Many friends that are supporting you❤❤❤ GOD BLESS 🙏
Oh, my dears. I am just so sorry for what you have been through - and of course are still going through. Absolutely - the most important thing is that no lives were lost, and you guys are safe and well. And, yes - 'stuff is stuff' - but it can still hold such a great deal of meaning. These things chart our lives, embody our memories. They merit as much of a grieving process as we feel we need to give them. Wishing you all the strength you need to weather this storm, and see this chapter through. I am so glad you have each other.
I will keep praying that you will be comforted as you go through the heart breaking days and weeks ahead. 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤ Sending love from a new subscriber in California.
Watching this I could feel your pain. I cried because I know how hard it was for you to walk through your house. Things are important because they have meaning to you. I’ve been praying for both of you and Jack Jack and will continue to every day. God bless you! I’m so glad you are safe from the fire.
This is really so sad. I can't imagine having to go through something like this. I love you guys! One good thing is that you won't have tons to pack when you do find a new place to call HOME!
I am so sorry! I hate that tjis happens to anyone. As a previous commenter said, youd be amazed and what can be savable. In helping my Dad clear our his antique store that burned, its amazing how some things survive intact and can be cleaned up. My husband and i are still dealing with that cleanup since my Fathers passing. If you need any tips or just to talk, let us know! And dont let anyone tell you how long it should take you to "get over it". (I hope u dont run into that) Hugs to you!
Hi all I kept saying was omg Iam so very sorry about it all I started to cry when you cryed yes it’s all stuff but it’s your stuff and it meant something when you mentioned your kids things and your grandparents i lost it even more stay strong I’ll keep you all in my prayers
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot Change. Change the things that I can, and the ability to know the difference.

I lost it as soon as you mentioned your babies' pictures. IT'S OKAY to be upset about the loss of your stuff, especially the sentimental stuff.
