Hey guy, I just picked up the same guitar (black SG Pro) but mine has the full pick guard. I did the same mods. In my case, I had a set of Gibson 490/498's from my Les Paul Custom. They were gold covered so I removed the covers for open humbuckers. Just some pointers for future mod. 1. the pickup screws should swap out so you shouldn't have to route out deeper for them and risk putting a hole in the back of the guitar. Or you could also cut the screws shorter rather than have to grind out wood. I put in individual CTS 500k pots rather than the circuit board assembly, so I didn't have the issue with the hole alignments, but did have a lot more soldering to do and had to enlarge them slightly for the new pots. I ran a 3/8 drill bit in reverse so it wouldn't chip the paint. The setup on mine when I got it was horrible. Had to tweak the neck, drop the bridge down, and the intonation was way out. I think the guitar was set up by a Panda Bear. Fortunately, the frets were at least level, but did go thru and polish them real good. Fret board was really dry so a couple of apps of lemon oil and bam, this is now a sweet playing and sounding SG. I'm done paying for Gibson/Fender prices. I got a Squire CV strat that I redid the electronics and pickups in it. Plays and sounds as good as any strat I ever played. The most important aspect of a guitar is the neck and fretwork. Find a cheap guitar with a nice neck and the rest is gravy. Rock on! Oh, one more small thing, when demoing a guitar, making sure it's in tune always comes across much better ;)
Getting ready to do this same thing. If i decide to do a video do I have your permission to reference your video? Nothing bad obviously, you’re a life saver!
Out of all the guitars- I feel like the SG is the one with the biggest difference between cheap and high end. The cheap ones are absolute muddy shit and the high end ones have been in the likes of The Who, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, and countless other artists
Just got my pickups and circuit board in today, going to try and work on it tonight. Great video! Literally the only one i could find.

Johnny Law! Good to see you Brother! Thanks for the idea! I just blew the dust off my SG a few weeks ago! Stay safe!

Sure. Everything came out good on my guitar.
great video, thanks
Would this have been an easier swap if you used vintage spec Gibson electronics? I feel like the all in one unit complicated things for you.
I didn't know there was a better option. I'm just getting into Gibson guitars.
