Don't need a special tool for bleeding the abs pump and brake hydraulic system. Jack the vehicle off the ground (all four corners), take all wheels off, crack the brake bleed nipple on the rear calliper first, start engine, put in gear (low for an auto and first gear manual) with handbrake off and apply a small amount of throttle. The traction control will activate the abs pump as it's sensing a difference in wheel speeds and begin flushing through the fluid from the master cylinder. Do this to all four callipers and your good to go. I've been doing this without a problem, works perfectly
That bit of black plastic on the far right, that you called the "shuttle valve" is actually called the "shuttle valve switch". It does not have any solenoids or actuators in it, it does however have two electric micro switches in it that are used to turn 'ON' or 'OFF' the "Shuttle valve solenoid(s)".
My sons and I did a head gasket changeout on our 2000. The local shop wanted 3400 bucks to do it. I kept track of the time we all worked on it and @ $75 per hour I figured we came in at far less than that. For what it's worth, if anything can fall down and under it will. Sometimes never to be seen again. I think I will try this thing when i get some bucks saved up. I to am a victim of the 3 amigos.
Hi, some years ago I had the 3 amigos which I cleared by diverting the shuttle valve wires out of the shuttle valve casing to an external earth and by picking up the yellow green wire in the loom in the engine compartment. Now I’ve got the 3 amigos AND the handbrake light on my 2002 TD5 Disco 2. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
My code reader says front sensors out put too low , any ideas? I've replaced the sensor cables, still says the same. I saw a video saying cut out the joining clips as these could be the problem. Still the same. Is it worth changing the shuttle valve anyway?
I have the three amigos problem So I order the shuttle valve, but I tried to replace it to my surprise my Land Rover free lander 2004 hse doesn’t carry a shuttle valve any idea why my free lander doesn’t have the shuttle valve?and what else causes the three amigos.
I replaced my shuttle valve on my 2000 Discovery 2 after it was recommended for my "3 amigos" warning lights. The shuttle valve was replaced without having to remove the brake lines. I DID see brake fluid in one of the "sealed pistons" inside the ABS unit. Since my 3 amigos didn't clear with the replacement, and the fact that I saw brake fluid in one of the pistons, it's fair to assume that I need to replace the entire ABS unit, correct? Thank you in advance, your video(s) are very helpful.
Hi there, After changing all my steering joints I got the 3 amigo's. I changed the sensor cables and it made no difference. I watched a lot of video's including yours. One said cut the plugs out that join sensor to harness. I did that and no difference. I bought a code reader and it says sensor out put too low. It doesn't show anything about the shuttle valve. What do you make of that? Its a 2004 TD5 facelift.
Greetings Doug, RE: front brakes for oem 2011 RRs the brake pads has white plastic to peel which side does the sticky gel black goes? on the piston or outboard or inboard? send me a video.
Hi, I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery HSE and I just recently got a new blower motor put on & I only feel air when I'm pushing the gas pedal. once I take my foot off, it stops blowing. I can barely feel air while driving. Any suggestions...
I have a 2004 Range Rover HSE. I changed my pads and rotors all the way around. My brake pedal now goes almost all the way to the floor when I press the brakes with the engine running. I bled the brake system twice and replaced the master cylinder and bled the system again. With the engine off the brake pedal is nice and stiff. I have checked all the lines and calipers and I am not seeing any leaks. Anyone have any ideas why my pedal is going to the floor when the engine is running.
Heres one you might be able to help with? I have the 3 amigoes on my 2003 Freelander the problem is the diagnostics won't connect with the ABS module. Any ideas?
We would recommend trying an alternative diagnostic tool or bring it to a shop to see if they can access the module to get a more detailed diagnosis of your three amigos issue.
The Antidote. Hey help me my name is Cody. nice to meet you. it's most likely the yellow and green ground wire I believe coming off of the big wire loom
would that issue cause the vehicle to stall or bog when going up a small hill or accelerating heavily ??? also my brakes works fine with no issues, does having the 3 lights cause something to not work? like a limp mode?
Hi we have a 2006 LR3 . when i turn on the motor i field vibration for about 2 to 3 mins also when the vehicle stop there is little space forward also when i'm driving and let go of the pedal the vehicle star slowing down like mi tractor trailer. thank you if any body cant GIF me any idea... bi side tha every thing else is excellent,,, Thank you for all the info ..........
You can have air in the lines. You don't have to absolutely do it with a diagnostic tool. It can still be done fairly well by traditional bleeding procedures.
These guys make all model Rover repairs look easy. Very informative. I've had to watch several of these.

You guys are great! Please keep making these videos. May I suggest a power steering fluid flush.
I want Doug to be my personal Disco 2 mechanic! :)

Hi! I'm in the same boat, were you able to sort this out? if yes, please share the fix. Tks in advance!
awesome video thank you !!!
Perfect video!

Just plug in diagnostic... It could be wheel bearing

What did you end up having to replace to fix the lights?
Any video on how to change the REar right abs speed sensor?

Do you have to bleed the lines if you only replace the actuator?
Local shop swapped mine out with a used one for amigo issue .. no lights but now I noticed the traction control doesn’t work. Any suggestions

@@Arthur-Silva I sold my LC100 series to buy a LR! All good so far.

I'd like to know that too, mine bogs like that and I get intermittent 3 amigos. Did you get yours fixed?

what happens if you do not do a brake bleed after replacing the shuttle valve
You can have air in the lines. You don't have to absolutely do it with a diagnostic tool. It can still be done fairly well by traditional bleeding procedures.
What is it when all 3 pop up at the same time?
Same thing he talked about, they basically only come on together
Hello
I have a 2002 freelander my TC And Downhill light are on that means that can be the problem? Please help anyone
My lights came on after replacing the front and rear pads/rotors. I wonder why? Any suggestions?
you likely disturbed one of the ABS sensors on a wheel hub close to the brake pads or the connector in the ABS line. Make sure all are in place
do you have any videos regarding a crank but no start? i replaced the battery in my 2001 land rover discovery and now just cranks
Aldo Garcia I had same problem with my 03 disco 2, problem was a bad crank sensor.
Mine turned out to be the ECM (computer)
