Funny enough, there's a small neighbourhood in Venice Beach, California that is built on artificial canals with no roads. Much smaller scale though and you can easily walk out to where there are roads.

@@AMR_k400 but the oldest and longest is in China and Chinese Water Towns are older than Venice which is the oldest Water City in Europe but not in the world.
Indians and Asians who dream of such places dont realise how boring, isolating and depressing these towns are in europe.. After 10 days in a place like that u would want to run back to your pollutted, noisy, overcrowded countries because the one big thing that's missing in europe is "life" there are hardly any people.. Loneliness kills u in these places..the locals are extremely aloof, quite racist and dont open up to strangers nor trust them at all. On top of it these places are horribly expensive even for the locals.. Indians have more spending power now as the cost of living in india is still ten times cheaper than anywhere in western Europe...in London a movie ticket costs £14 now... And parking your car in a mall costs £9...life isn't easy in europe its a dream but once u see it.. That dream becomes a nightmare..I would say a lot of Europeans are seriously depressed people they have very tough lives, uts difficult now to even find partners in europe.. Most Europeans cant afford a baby thats why their populations are declining and immigration going up.. Which is causing more problems..Weather doesn't help either when its always cold and raining. All these places are good to visit once but after a month u can get suicidal in such places when u realise the local Culture and people are very closed up in their own world and dont like outsiders at all..and anyway their world is quite depressing.. Look up the suicide rates in Netherlands...its a pretty life but not necessarily a happy one :)... Go to Thailand or goa or bali.. See how many white Europeans are desperate to live there now cuz its lively, cheap, friendly and fun. Europe is just a picture postcard / open air museum now... Nothing more really.

These places are great for those who were born and raised there..for someone new they are impossible to integrate...and also impossible to immigrate.

Such a wholesome town. Such a wholesome video and great narration.
I live in The Netherlands and the moment that I saw the thumbnail I was like: GIETHOORN
Ja ik dacht ook van wat is daar nou zo speciaal aan.
The narrator keeps mispronouncing it. The locals clearly said "hheethorn" a dozen times, but he kept going with "guit horn"

My goodness, its like from a cartoon.those peaceful sceneries where everything is simply relaxed...I love it
I visited the town in summer and it was VERY busy. All the tourists who wanted to relax in a quiet town (we also thought it was quiet 😅)
It's a tourist hotspot. I don't live really close to it but I still live in the Netherlands and I've been there a few times, usually it is pretty booming in tourists.
During the summer, people from all over the place, during the winter, ice skaters (if the canals are frozen well enough).
Ice skating there is awesome btw
this place will be wiped off the map by leftists in no time
I really like that concept of living....it appears so peaceful, serene and down right beautiful!
My husband and I visited Geithoorn in the fall of 2018 for the day. It was a lovely sunny day and the town and people were just wonderful!

Funny enough, there's a small neighbourhood in Venice Beach, California that is built on artificial canals with no roads. Much smaller scale though and you can easily walk out to where there are roads.

I admire the Europeans of the past. Very clever to design their towns with such creativity. So beautiful.
@@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath to be fair, german architecture and city planning was pretty good in the 30's
Well canals were invented by assyrians and most of the mechanics were perfected by persians and muslims before it was exported to Europe nkw most of the rivers that once ran in the middle east have dried up so u won't find many towns like this but they did exist
Ofcourse when China was their Inspiration to design such Canal Cities.
@@AMR_k400 but the oldest and longest is in China and Chinese Water Towns are older than Venice which is the oldest Water City in Europe but not in the world.
everyone must be healthy in there, no signs of air pollution plus walking and riding a bike is a good exercise.
Black Bean Noodles absolutely, a nice Place to live at (for me).
Those people are blessed to be born and live there..
Mkts the grass if always greener on the other side.In my hometown there is a bunch of Jewish people who live by agriculture and most of natives want to come to the polluted capital for employment 😂
Carlouge I know all this very well, my reply was meant for non Dutch / non Eu people who think such places are great for them to move to, ive lived in europe and asia all my life so I know all the differences, issues etc..
Netherlands is nice and peaceful because its less populated..if one billion Asians moved to Netherlands I doubt it would still be nice and peaceful. These places are great for those who were born and raised there..for someone new they are impossible to integrate...and also impossible to immigrate.
I live in Giethoorn and can confirm that I am just an overexcited tourist that enjoys spitting and taking selfies in the canals

Giethoorn look like straight out from fairy Tale movie. I wonder how people get to work in time.
Leave earlier
They cycle. A lot of Dutch people do, even if we don't all live in Giethoorn. Like most Dutch towns it has an extensive network of bicycle lanes. And parts of the town do in fact have roads and can be reached by car and public transport.
Well, im living in Giethoorn so we could take the bus, bike, car, boat. Everything!!
I also am working and living in the village the red boats pasing by are mine ;-)
People behavior towards keeping the place clean and beautiful matters a lot.
unfortunately, you can keep the place clean and beautiful all you want, but you can't stop the invasion of outsiders which will destroy those qualities
When I was younger I would swim here eventually because we would turn turtle to fall in the water from the canoes with my family and throw mud to eachother , sunscreen never really worked because of the swimming and laughing.
It is still mad fun. I grew up in this place and I’ve grown to love the fields and the calmness over there

sahin vaaz you can go there as a tourist. But you can never go to live there. Because you are not white. I live in Holland and I have been there many times. It is beautyfull and they love it when I spend my money. But they hate the Color of my skin
That's not correct. Everybody , so also you, can buy a house in this village. It has nothing to do if your skin is white or black. As long as you can pay it you can buy is , but only with honestly deserved money.... not with black money ;)

Oh I wish I was born in a city like this. Lol. I wonder how would life be there 🤔🤔😀
I was thinking the exact same thing. I wish, quiet peaceful, clean....... all the rest
NOT a city. Small town or village. They even give you the number of boats and people.
@@travismailsa1 Not super peaceful though; the water is very close to the houses and hundreds and hundreds of boats pass your house everyday. This means thousands of tourists, with cameras, trying to have a sneak peek at what living there's like. The local government actually had to step in since a lot of Japanese tourists were climbing off boats to just walk through people's gardens and take pictures there (they probably didn't quite understand this whole 'privacy' thing). Also, what Don Quixote mentioned; it's a small town, definitely not a city, so it feels even more weird when there's all these tourists flooding into your everyday life.
