    Every second of the battle-scenes are perfection, so much work has been put down to make the scenes as realistic as possible, so many great details. Back in 1998 I was blown away by the D-Day scene in Saving Private Ryan. But the battle scenes in Hacksaw Ridge even surpass that. Nothing were missing, every grotesque detail where there and the cameras caught it all up. Perhaps this was exactly how it was. The first battle-scene lasted more than 10 minutes. I wonder how long time it took to make all this, putting together all the effects. We see people get hit by bullets or grenades, fly through the air while limbs were torn apart and bodies land right in front of the camera with dead eyes and crushed sculls. I am amazed it's even possible to make this! I love he included Desmond Doss childhood and youth, and falling in love with that beautiful girl. All this was necessary and a good build up before the battles begun. This film is really a masterpiece made by a true genius: Mel Gibson. He deserve many Oscars for this film, Golden Globe, Golden palm and even a Congressional Medal of Honor for brilliant directing!

    One of the rare movies that I will be going to see. Desmond Doss was a family friend of my family and I grew up watching him work in the community. Such an unassuming man. Thank you Mel Gibson. Glad to see you back and Hacksaw Ridge.

      Same here. I haven't been to a movie theater in about 14 years, but I will be going to see this. They told us stories about the things he did when I was in the military. We have heroes in the US, men like Jack Hinson who fought for the things they believed and what was right. Desmond Doss was not just a great US hero, he was one of the greatest heroes in recorded history. I do not support his religious stance, I don't believe in what he believed and I was a shooter, but I have the utmost respect for any man who refuses to sacrifice his principles and has no fear.

    This movie was beautiful and was in the human nature of the time period. There is nothing like using up every bit of human will and being carried by faith somehow to allow you to go further, and then further still.

    I can admit that the whole audience in an icelandic cinema here in Reykjavik applauded for about 5 minutes or more right after that movie. For me it's the best anti war movie I've ever watched!

    • @BenDover-gc4xs
      @BenDover-gc4xs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm sure if this an anti war movie, i think it's just a story of a religious man. besides, wars happen whether we want to it or not so the term "anti-war" does not make a lot of sense to me. nobody in their sane mind would like war to happen (i think) but sometimes it is necessary to protect the ppl we love, so what exactly does being against something out of our control mean? Hope u get what i mean by this
