  • This is a video documentary of Travis Pastrana's Professional Motocross Racing Career. I think to many its a forgotten fact that Travis Pastrana was one of the Top riders in his day. He burst into the scene in 2000 where he picked up multiple wins in the 125cc Supercross class in his rookie season. He followed that up with an even more impressive 125cc Pro Motocross Championship where he came back from a 40 point deficit to win the championship by 2 points! Incredible! I 2001 Travis moved up to the 250cc in Supercross where he would battle the likes of Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, and many more. Unfortunately he would pull out of the season and race the 125cc East Coast Supercross Championship, which he would win, dominating the championship. Pastrana had a huge points lead but would lose it with a series of bad crashes and concussions. 2002 Pastrana moved up to the 250cc class full time and would show he was one of the top guys, battling Carmichael and David Vuillemin tooth and nail. He would get epstien-barr mid season and have to pull out of the Supercross series. The rest of his racing career was full of injuries and bad luck, but Travis still showed people that he was one of the best, it just didn't show on paper. Overall it was a great career in my opinion and Travis showed he was as good as anyone when he was on the track. Dont miss the action, This is Travis Pastrana's Motocross Career Highlights. #TravisPastrana #Motocross #Supercross

Was plagued by injury from severe ADHD and run down from lack of sleep (night terrors) and chronic fatigue hopped up on pain killers and was still the fastest rider the sport has ever witnessed! His racing career though, bout a 4/10

Thank you so much for this. I’ll never forget meeting Travis at steel city when he was 14 years old. I was probably 22 just there partying, he was such a nice down to earth kid. I asked him to stop by our camper to meet everyone and he showed to sign autographs and take pics. Travis and mad Mike Jones were jumping this jump that was 30 feet high(just the ramp)and of course everyone knew Travis from crusty demons of dirt!!! There will never be another TP199…

I don't know, he was extremely skilled, and one of the best whoop riders I've ever seen, but that doesn't always translate to controlled speed... One of the most talented riders was, Kevin Windham, he had more technical bike skill than you could shake a stick at. He had a lot more skill than what Ricky had, he just didn't put in the work off the bike like Carmichael, or nearly as many practice laps...Infact, i've heard Windham say post retirement that he'd ride once during the week inbetween Supercross rounds, sometimes he wouldn't touch a bike until qualifying the next weekend, while RC would burn a 5 gallon jug of fuel 3 days a week before each race, and when he, Chad, and eventually James were paying to fly private (RC and Reed actually flew together fairly often to make it cheaper since they were flying into the same airport, a lot of people don't know that), he'd fly out Saturday right after the race, then be back riding Sunday morning to get an extra day (4th) of riding...Riding that much during the week, makes it even more impressive that he managed to stay healthy for nearly his entire career. The biggest thing that held Windham back was being unwilling to hang it out, while RC lived at that edge between comfortable and swapping out of control, but that was just his style... but when Kevin was on, he could beat anyone indoors or out, you just never knew which Kevin was going to show up. If Windham trained more off the bike and rode more during the week, I feel like he would of adapted to that speed and it would of been a comfortable speed for him, cause he was always just a click off speed wise normally, he just never put in the seat time required and always stayed well within his limits. He's said not working as hard as he should of during the week is a big regret of his, but the dude can still hop on a bike to this day after not riding for months or years, and still look like his old self. It's pretty impressive. He was at a ride day a year or two ago and was beating current AMA Pros, no they weren't factory guys, but it's still impressive feat at his age and physique lol...and those privateers are usually a lot faster during the week than they are at the races, I don't know why that is.

He still had a racing career most riders would dream of, he won a national championship and des nations in his rookie season. It was brief but spectacular, he moved on and was successful in everything he did after.

Best rider who never won a 250 main. And sure as hell one of the best ever who never won a 250 SX title, side by side with windham, bradshaw, larocco, Lusk, Henry and a few more guys.
Pastrana was just on another Level, his blown out knee ruined everything.
I still believe, with a bit less crashing and a good knee, he would have been a 250 champ against guys like Carmichael, Reed and Stewart.

Yea keep telling yourself that. Not sure how a couple of races with Travis being up front with RC before crashing out gives you such a bold statement about the most dominant rider of all time with 15 championships, 2 perfect seasons, 10 strait MX titles, 5 SX titles and over 150 wins. I mean Travis never even won a single race in the premiere class in supercross or motocross.

Dirt Wurx needs to go watch some footage of some of these tracks from the early 2000's, there were some very creative sections with two very different lines through them. Would they work with the 450s, I don't know, but you could try it...the last really unique track was ironically the layout Travis designed in St. Louis 2009. They need to go back to having the riders design the tracks, or come up with unique ideas, rather than every track being cookie cutter.

Pastrana definitely had beaucoup talent and potential. Unfortunately he raced in the same era as Ricky Carmichael. Even if he did everything right, I'm not sure if he could've beat RC for a title. He could dice it up with him week to week and get some wins here and there sure, but beating RC for a title was next to impossible.

Not only that but Travis already had a history of making hard contact passes on everyone. Did you watch the whole video ??? Im a Travis fan and was always wishing he would win. Same way I want Mookie " Malcolm Stewart to win a 450 main so bad. Who knows how could Travis could have been.
