Those big ten fives are monster boats . Especially when driving something that dwarfs an aircraft carrier on a twisting winding river with tricky currents bridges and changing waterlevels.
Computerized radar and river charts are great.
When I was there in the 70s and 80s the radar was in its own cabinet and had a round screen, and the charts were a big foldout book.

#14 Good Morning, Toby. Many, Many years ago I wheeled Railroad Carferries on Lake Michigan. I learned from the best! For me, it was a fun experience. And now only one vessel still exist from my times, the SS Badger #43. The SS City of Green Bay was my personal favorite! Thanks and Anchors Away!

M/V Dan McMillan was originally the Jason owned by Union Mechling. I remember when it first came out as the first of the triple screw 10-5’s from Dravo…..awesome, jaw dropping towboat in 1974 - ‘75 along with sister vessel Argonaut (now the Andrew Cargill).
I’ve got original Dravo promotional corporate photos and Union Mechling brochure featuring both vessels.

Well done ! I love the rivers, especially the awesome Missouri. I was lucky to grow up in North St. Louis County where I had both the Missouri and Mississippi. Thanks Toby for the tour, especially for showing the depth of the river.

Hey Towboat Toby , like the video man, we appreciate you guys on our rivers, I got a place up on the Ohio river right between Louisville Ky and Cincinnati Ohio, I brought a river lot there lmore than 20 year's ago everyone told me them barges where gonna keep me up all night lol jokes on them , them riverboats lull me to sleep all night long, I live on the Ky side but two miles north of the Madison In./Milton Ky. Bridge , I love it so much I built a to 40+ foot tall Lighthouse, if you guys find yourself up that way some day "Shine Me" all the local pilots do haha I get a kick out of it, the Ohio River is about a mile wide there and me being a gulf coast boy made it the closest thing to being home, hope to see y'all up my way some day thanks again for the video

Are those MAN the same size? or is the center screw larger than the outboard power? What does she have for gensets? Have they considered installing the forward scanning transducesr? Seems like a good candidate for that being 1600ft and slow to respond. How big are the wheels on this beast and shaft diameters?

I love it. I’d so love to take a Tripp up or down the river on one with you guys. So cool. Is your American flag at half staff? If so why? Or does it just look like it is. Either way very awesome guys. Keep up the great work …….
