    As an experienced dealer this is 100% the dealers error. Its always pissed me off the incompetence that some of my colleagues do at their job.

      The WSOP has to hire a ton of temporary dealers every summer, and unfortunately many of them always have little to no experience. It is what it is. As a player it's extremely important to be aware of this and watch super carefully when you figure out you have one of these dealing your table, and sometimes you even need to help them out with rules.

    Regarding the Men situation: The part everyone is missing is that when Men went all in, the 3rd guy asked for a count. The dealer counted. It should have been EXTREMELY simple to re-count after the hand (the dispute is prior to the next hand dealt). It should show 10m, 25m and 35m (beginning was 4.5, 25, 40, iirc). How did every floor/dealer/camera miss this???

      He took his chips back because the largest pot was a chop. So most of his chips are coming back. This is 100% dealer fault, the pot with the J5 hand should’ve been taken care of prior to flop

      @@MissDeal55 They typically don't take the side pot when all three players are all in - they wait to see who wins...it's easier to manage (typically). The floor messed it up even more by arbitrarily ruling that both players had to give 1 million to Smith. That not only didn't account for all the money Smith was shorted, but it penalized the player who almost certainly gave all 4.5 million. Dealer and floor messed up, yes, but so did Smith....you win a pot like this you make sure you get your chips before you celebrate. However - htf are there not casino cameras on every table?

    To charge a ridiculous 18% rake in the Gladiators and on top of that not get the all-in stack transfers right is terrible.
    There should be more pushback from poker players over the high rake issue at the WSOP. Caesar's admit on the structure sheets that less than 1/3 of the rake goes towards the marginal costs of running the games. The rake is too high at every level. Let's say a table costs $30/h and can take $50/h. Total player time divided by number of players is maybe 8 hours. So 50 * 1/8 of a table * 8 hours = 50. We can be generous and say Wsop can double that! $100/person (varying with structure of course, Main Event maybe 2x, Super Turbo Bounty 0.5x) is a reasonable fee for a well run game.
    $5k - $400 rake
    $10k - $700 rake
    $25k - $1500 rake
    $100k - $3250 rake
    $250k - $1000 rake

    • @Killdroid96
      @Killdroid96 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If they charged the 18% rake on the $300 gladiator event, the WSOP raked over $1mil from that event alone. There is no way it costed them even $500,000 to run that event meaning that they easily doubled their money from that 1 event alone. Seems like they are trying to gouge the players.

The game is already doing fine. Now if we could only have it so that Americans all around the country could play against a global player pool, but I guess that would make DraftKings sad or something.

    Foxwoods management says, "no chips in Mens room"

  • @johnf1772
    @johnf1772 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I think the Men situation is easy to explain and COULD be innocent. Men was the BB, so he had 1M already in the pot. So, take Smith's 4.5, Foulty's 4.5 and the1.5 blinds, you have 10.5M for Brian Smith. Leaving him 3.5M short. The simplest explanation is Men took ALL his remaining chips back from the All In, without taking out the additional 3.5M for Smith. He may have done this on purpose...or he may have assumed the dealer already did it and that it was already in the pot. But I think simple logic could show how exactly Smith would be 3.5M short, and where it came from. At that point it wouldn't matter if it was on purpose or not...A Floor Manager with two brain cells to rub together should see the short came from Men's stack, even without cameras.

    • @bryan-still-a-poker-player
      @bryan-still-a-poker-player 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No....people will slowly quit the game if you ban phones that much. We want to GROW the game not shrink it cause some people are scared. No phone in hand when you have cards is simple enough and rule no solvers at table and getting caught checking a solve after a hand or whatever carries x penalty.

    • @fred_derf
      @fred_derf 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@bryan-still-a-poker-player Why is stepping away from the table such a problem? It's not like I'm suggesting you have to go out into the parking lot to send a text...
      This reminds me of the _No Smoking_ debate we had a couple of decades ago where the naysayers were saying that if smoking was banned people would stop going to restaurants and bars -- then they banned smoking in restaurants and bars and do you know what happened? Business increased. People weren't being driven away by smokers anymore.
      You're worried about the people who will stop playing without their phones in hand at all times? What about all the people that don't play because it's boring when everybody is on their phone?

    • @bryan-still-a-poker-player
      @bryan-still-a-poker-player 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @fred_derf no it's just an annoyance to have to get up from the table everytime you want to check a score. I play cash for a living and I would just play exclusively online if I had to leave my seat to send a message to the babysitter, check a score, or whatever. Poker is very boring 95% of the time you are there. Recreational players want their phone more than I do and they make the poker world go. They need to be catered to. It's literally not hard to say "ok I'm in a hand, phone down till after".
      You guys can do whatever you want in the tourney world, I don't care. But cash games I do not care if a guy is trying to use wizard in-between hands. Most hands aren't going to function anything like this sims. Maybe at higher stakes 10/20+ but even then I am very skeptical how much it even helps the guy trying to study in-between hands. Obv a tourney is slightly different, looking up your 7bb shove range for next hand would be a big deal. You solve that with the "no solvers even in-between hands" and if caught you get x penalty where x gets more severe with each infraction until player is banned.
      Comparing smoking to phone usage is such a silly comparison. It's not like people are refusing to play because someone might blow text rings in their face.

  • @300baud
    @300baud 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Even if Men intentionally pulled all his chips back, the problem is still with the dealer. The short stack chips were in front of him. All the dealer has to do is count his chips, and then count the same amount 2 more times from the other 2 players. If Men pulled his chips back while the dealer is settling the pot then the dealer needs to grab 4.5 million from Men and slide them over to the short stack. This happens a lot. A dealer counting out the pot while others in the hand are pulling chips back. I've seen dealers quite often reach into another players chips or ask them to slide their chips forward so that additional chips can be taken to give to the winner.

    Terrance, they NEVER found chips in his Foxwoods hotel. The poker room manager at Foxwoods has clarified this already on Twitter via Chad Halloway.
    Men had given a friend his room who was cooking fish (lol) which caused the smoke alarm to go off. So they banned him bc his name was on the room but Men wasn’t occupying the room. No chips were found and this verified. It’s an old wives tale that was told in a whisper down the lane style by poker players and the story changed so many times throughout the years. Same thing happened w the story of the guy who paid the hooker w a 500 tournament chip and received change.

    How would chasing away electronic devices chase away players? Seems like a weak argument that cannot be measured. But players that are forced to pay 100% to the game and hand under would become better players. The players that are more interested in texting and watching basketball are not interested in winning. They are pretty much dead money. The Masters bans electronic devices and they are packed and will always be packed. There are no people dropping dead on the golf course because they cannot have their phone. They live just fine for a whole day without their electronic thumbs.
