    Suggestion, since you are into Hamiltonian systems and stuff, it would be very visually appealing to sketch some phase portraits of dynamical and go over chaos and stuff. It would be more informative and with less notation :P. Enjoyed the video very much though.

      Lol this is not even a dynamical systems Hamiltonian, satisfying canonical equations of motion etc. This is an operator on Hilbert space, with no chaos or phase portraits to speak of. Unless you meant this as a future suggestion, I guess.

    What is the purpose of these kinds of equations? What are they used to calculate or find? I don't even know if I'm asking correctly.

    • @jeanmariegrangon
      @jeanmariegrangon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      It serve the purpose of calculating the energy of an uni-dimensional particle in a infinite square potential. It's the most simple case, but it doesn't have any physical meaning. The thing is that it can be generalized to multidimensional particle and whatever potential you think of. For instance, by generalizing this calculation, you can calculate the energy of an electron around an atom. Sadly the math get dirty really quickly...

      N O L A N M I L N E S no one forces quantum mechanics into the curriculum. the minimum requirement of math in high school is precalculus where the hardest thing you learn is the trig unit circle and a derivative. these math concepts are critical for most skilled trades and of course engineering. it's in the curriculum because they want to establish the basics of math. if you understand the basics, then the rest falls in line without much difficulty. calculus is basically just algebra on steroids. did you know that calculating the area of a square involves integration, an *integral* concept in calculus?

      JMB3 Official It is good, yes. My only suggestion being that clog should be cog in this context, no? When talking about machinery its usually Cog. I believe thats what you meant. Also maybe play with the spacing of the last line so that when you read it, it doesnt come so abbruptley. Maybe put two lines of space between the second to last line and the last line so you can have a moment of silence, which gives more impact to the last line. Otherwise it is good, if not a tad cliche!
