I've used Baritone Banjo Strings on my Rogue Banjo and the slots in the bridge and nut didn't need to be widened because they were cut wider to accommodate Nylon (or Nylgut) Strings and the Baritone Banjo Strings are a Bit thinner than Nylon/Nylgut strings so I didn't have any issues.

Actually I've put Gold Tone BBS Baritone Banjo Strings on my Rogue 5 String Travel Banjo & it created a cool "James Bond Vibe". I didn't have to do any alterations to the bridge & nut because the notches were actually cut wider to accommodate Nylon strings & the BBS Strings are thinner than Nylon strings.

Thank you for the demo!! I just bought these strings and your video clarified a few concerns I thought I had but looks like I should be good to go :)
Beautiful playing at the end, too!

Hope you are still playing...apologies for the delayed response. I've been way too lax on my TH-cam content...I hope to do more this coming Spring.

Yup! Been using those Hartford strings for several years now and I LOVE them! Since I rarely jam with other people I've set up most of banjos with these strings (or variations of these strings) to accommodate my preference for the low-tuned banjo sound. BTW, I really like your playing! Please keep on posting videos featuring your banjo music.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Dean! I'm really liking these low strings. Makes for a nice change. Thank you for the nice compliment as well. It's nice to know that the practice is paying off :-) I do need to get back to recording/posting videos. Do you have any songs or tunes you'd like to hear?

@@BanjoCrazed How about using Baritone Banjo Strings:th-cam.com/video/UqoCmmHF2Zs/w-d-xo.html in Open Low C? The notches in the bridge & nut are actually cut wider to accommodate those.

The Gold Tone BBS Baritone Strings are C Tuning Strings & they don't require any nut alterations.

Larry just checking to see what you think of these strings. I'm playing long neck for a while and do like the e tuning. I just got an old Alvarez five string that I want to try these strings on. By the way I just got rid of my missing link. Had it listed on banjo Hangout and we had a trade. Next question is did you have to change the tone ring to a wooden one or did you stay with the standard metal tone ring? I got to say you sound great keep it up and thanks for your time and your information Tom

Actually you can tune these strings to Open G if you put them on something like a Banjeaurine Mini Banjo.

Are you able to get these string at your local music shop?

If you have a well stocked music store...maybe? Best to call ahead. It is easy to find these only at Elderly, Banjo Ben, etc. Good luck! They are fun to play around with.
