Summary of actions recommended in the first 10 days of Dhul Hijja are: ¹Clean your heart. ²Forgive and reconcile. ³Train yourself to pray your 5 Fard salat on TIME, and for men - in jammah in the masjid. ⁴ Pray the Sunnah prayers. ⁵ Pray some Nafl extra prayers to cover the holes and mistakes in your Fard Salah. ⁶ Fast the whole 9 days but definitely fast the Day of Arafat, the 9th day. Zakat / Zakat al Mal is the third pillar of Islam and is a compulsory charity of 2.5% of a person’s wealth, if they have more than the Nisab value (which can be calculated in gold or silver). Historically, it was set up as a welfare system to support the poor and needy. Zakat is deemed to be the right of the poor.Many people don’t know that the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are better than all the other days of the year, the 10 best days with no exception. They are even better than the days of Ramadan, SubhanAllah! Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days” (Bukhari), meaning the (first) ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. After the holy month of Ramadan, maybe you feel that you could have done more throughout the sacred month? Perhaps you’ve since let go of that Ramadan feeling? Well, these beloved ten days offer another chance to gain immense rewards, have our sins forgiven and reach great levels of piety, Insha’Allah. A month of increased spirituality, we witness two very special events - all in devotion to Allah (SWT). Not only is this the month of Hajj, but also the blessed day of Eid al-Adha. On this day, each and every one of us, who is able, offers Qurbani - just as Prophet Ibrahim (AS) did - in devotion to Allah (SWT) and to help vulnerable communities in need across the globe, including right here where we are. *Don't forget 8 deeds in Dhul Hijjah* Regarding the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, Prophet (ﷺ) said: *"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days."* The people asked, *"Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?"* He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing." (Bukhaari, 2/457) 👉What can we do during these days: *1. Fasting:* One of the best deed we can do is fasting the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, because fasting is one of the best of deeds. 👉The Prophet (ﷺ) said: *“Fasting the day of `Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.”* [Muslim] 👉Allah almighty says, "This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion." (Surah al Maa'idah 5:3) 👉The day of Arafah is on 9th of Dhul-Hijjah. That is the day before Eid. *2. Read the Quran:* 👉Reading the Qur’an is a good deed and Allah (swt) especially loves the good deeds done in these days. *3. Pray your 5 daily Salah:* Don't forget to pray Tahajjud when you wake up for Suhoor. Also pray Salatuh Tasbeeh during these days. *4. Make lots of dhikr:* 👉Prophet (ﷺ) commanded us to recite a lot of Tasbeeh, Tahmeed and Takbeer during this time. Tahleel is to say "Laa ilaaha il-lal-laah" Takbeer is to say "Allahu Akbar" Tahmeed is to say "Alhamdulillaah" Tasbeeh is to say "Subhanallaah". 👉You may also recite: *اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ- اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ-لآاِلَهَ اِلاَّاللهٌ وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُاَللهُ اَكْبَرُ وَِللهِ الْحَمْدُ* Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd. (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is most Great, there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most great, Allaah is most great, and to Allaah be praise). 👉Recite it loudly in the mosque, the home, the street and every place where it is permitted to remember Allaah and mention His name out loud, as an act of worship. *5. Seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah:* Use these blessed days to seek forgiveness for all our wrongdoings. *6. Give in charity* Give in charity in these blessed days, as much as you can. *7. Sacrifice:* One of the good deeds that will bring a person closer to Allaah during these ten days is offering a sacrifice, by choosing a high-quality animal and fattening it. 👉Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "When you see the new moon of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him refrain from (removing anything) from his hair or nails.” (Muslim, 1977) *8. Stay away from Sins:* May Almighty Allah guide us to fulfill His commands and keep us away from committing all kinds of sins whether major or minor! Ameen 👉Other Good deeds: Making supplication (du’aa’), honouring parents, upholding the ties of kinship, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, and other good deeds and acts of worship.
