rasta king Well you're wrong. It's not a good game. IT IS THE BEST GAME IN EXISTENCE AND YOU DISHONOR IT'S NAME BY CALLING IT SUCH BLASPHEMY AS SIMPLY "good"
Long ago, in world with only 2 dimensions, there was a lone circle, among a sea of squares. He was chosen by the great Pixel-God, Toru Iwatani, to fight those who have fallen for the freedom of there realm, in a maze that seems to be under constant change, and with exits that just lead you back in through the other side, like as if you're put into a trance, that you couldn't remember. The only way to escape, was to fight the ghosts, who kept coming over and over again. No matter what, his fall would be inevitable. A woman, the 1st circle in the minority, was the next contestant. But that is a story for another day...
You will without question get your money's worth in that game but first check out a video or two of it to make sure it's something you're interested in.
Kudos to trying something new. I think Dragon Age lore is a bit more difficult than Elder Scrolls lore. Simply because each game already informs you on it's lore at the beginning. At least for the main story. The best lore to do would be the factions in the game like Grey Wardens, Templars, Circle Mages, Tevinter Mages, Inquisition, Amell family(Hawke and his/her father, and the hero of Fereldan(if mage). DarkSpawn, Fade demons(Shades, Pride Demon, etc.) Big fan of Bioware and their games are my favorite RPGs. So I'd be all for seeing you do lore on Bioware titles, since there isn't any good channels that do Bioware lore.
Aldowyn The ES lore also has an unbelievable amount of major things in history of which the cause isn't sure. If you go a bit deeper into ES lore you'll find plenty of things that are only theories, guesses, uncertainties...
***** Also lets not forget that its more of an RPG than either Fallout or Elder Scrolls with many of your decisions having world changing effects. (Even if the games don't convey this as well as I would like).
BSACursed Bow Early ES games had quite a few decisions that you had to make which changed the world or how people reacted to you. But I must admit, in Skyrim you could kill every non-essential NPC in a city and still become the thane of that city, it's pretty damn stupid.
One of the best channels on the tubes, you just feel the effort put forth, you guys care so much about your viewers, and out Firth such great videos. Looking forward to the new series.
I thought I couldn't love this channel more... then you gave us a Dragon Age lore series, I was wrong. This is a great idea and I love what you guys do keep it up!
Your lore series' have been one of the most engaging series I've watched in TH-cam. Just want to say thanks for providing such amazing content and delving into lore I never knew about!
A fantastic and concise summary of Dragon Age: Origins. Just a minor correction: The Grey Wardens didn't bring the Urn of Sacred Ashes to Redcliffe, they only took a pinch of the Ashes from the Urn.
Great videos guys. Time and time again, when I cant seem to find what I should play, or just simply want to learn more I find myself coming back to your channel. I find myself falling in love with the games even more because of your lore series, and end up replaying them just to relive all the fun I had before. Keep up the good work guys.
Noah Fix I loved that they offered so many options. That is what I miss about the game in comparison to Skyrim. The race you chose and decisions you made did result in a different impact. My ultimate goal was to get Alistair and Anora married AND keep Loghain alive, which is not easy to do.
I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY! THANK YOU! I was just the other day searching for a good DA lore series and I found myself wishing you guys would do one! THANK YOU SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!
It's so awesome you guys are doing this. Your ES lore videos always made me want to do something similar for the DA series considering the rich lore and my love for it. Glad to know it's in far better hands this way. Hope you guys do more, there are a thousand stories to be told!
All right I will try to be Captain Obvious here: The next Dragon Age game (Inquisition) is coming out in October this year. As for Mass Effect, it is true that it has been announced as a game in the making, and we have a teaser for it, though it short as hell, and doesn't show or give anything specific about it.
You're probably not going to read this but, please continue this series! Dragon Age: origins was one of my favorite games and has some of my favorite lore of any games ( along with TES and Star Wars). Thank you guys for all you're doing! Keep it up! :)
I really hope that you guys get all of the money that you need, because I'd love to see all of those lore series be a thing one day. Great vid as always! You guys never cease to help me more deeply appreciate my favorite games!
ShoddyCast has one weakness. They make me play the game after watching the video, I then get on the game and realise I have done everything. That's a good weakness.
Even though i cannot donate money for you guys, i hope i speak for everyone when i say that we are pumped for whatever you guys have planned next. Thank you so much for expanding into the dragon age lore.
I enjoyed this, but you don't take the urn of sacred ashes, you take a pinch of the ashes. Looking forward to seeing the future of Shoddycasts lore series.
Yes!! I can't wait to see the Dragon Age Lore Series! Like the Elder Scrolls Series I'm also a big fan of Dragon Age. As well, like the Elder Scrolls Lore Series I know you will do a top notch job and will make the lore thoroughly enjoyable as well as educational in the Dragon Age Aspect. Thank you so much Josh and all the Shoddy Cast Crew for all your hard work and effort towards all the Lore Series'. Keep it up, never let this channel die for I always enjoy watching your channel. You'll always have my support!
In some ways seeing the 70 hours of gameplay I just completed summed up in 7 minutes is kinda distressing ;) I'm glad you're adding Dragon Age to your series; I LOVE the Elder Scrolls videos you do; please DON'T stop. I'm definitely going to watch the DA videos now too! Thanks!
Never donated or followed a youtube channel or really even a television show as closely as I do the ShoddyCast. However, I believe you guys deserve and have proven your committment to spending that money on making a better channel so I will sign up to that patreon account as soon as possible.
I'm already supporting some other people on Patreon. I'd be glad to add a bit for you guys. I always look forward to the lore series videos. It's good to hear Josh back on, too. You should consider narrating the Dragon Age series yourself.
After sometime playing Skyrim and watch several TES lore story, i start to play Dragon Age, sometime before ShoddyCast start DA lore story, such coincidence. These are truly awesome rpg games
After seeing the splash art at the end of the video for the WoW logo, first thing that came to mind: ""Oh sick that'd be awesome. Oh...that would mean soooo many videos"
Loghain didn't betray anyone, he is simply the only one with military sense. I believe Loghain made the hard, right choice at Ostagar. He had to sit in hiding with the reinforcements waiting for the signal to charge. Now while the Warden fights his way up the tower to light the signal, that whole time the vanguard (anvil) is fighting and losing troops in grinding attrition with the line becoming thinner and thinner. By the time the signal was lit we see the vanguard line already broken in places and at the brink of collapse. At that point Loghain charging in would have done little to nothing, sure there is a very small chance he 'might' have been able to save Cailan but the casualities sustained would have been extreme if he succeeded, and if he failed there wouldn't be an army left. By that point the battle was hopeless and Loghain knew it, that was why he hesitated before calling the retreat. The plan called for the vanguard (anvil) to lure the darkspawn into the valley with them holding for a short period then have Loghain and the reinforcements (hammer) hit them in the flank, stunnng and crushing them between both forces. The vanguard was only supposed to fight the full darkspawn force for a few minutes with Loghain's charge breaking them against the vanguard; not the long grinding battle it beacame for them. When the signal was lit the O-Plan was impossible the vanguard was already or near broken, and the flanking charge would have had intial success but then simply been overwhelmed as the darkspawn concentrated there full force on Loghain. The battle was already lost, the decision he was making on the hill wasn't simply on wether to charge or not. It was wether he should risk it all in a slim chanced attempt to save Cailan with extreme casualities or leave the field with half the army fully intact but condemning Calian. Cauthrien knows whats happening hence why she says "What about the King... shouldn't we...", she doesn't mentions the battle because she knows its impossible to win now. Her words make it clear she wants to make the attempt for Cailan despite the consquences but her choice is focused entirely on the immediate situation and the danger to Cailan, letting her duty as knight override her military thinking. Loghain grabbing her arm is him trying to bring her out of her shock and make her think clearly. Thus Loghain makes the hard right decision. Also the Wardens did kill Cailan, he never should have been on the front lines! Duncan did not disuade Cailan's heroe worship, most likely seeing the advantage he gains from it. But when the time came for him to be firm he gives in. Cailan has no heir and no chosen successor, Duncan knows this and instead continues to let Cailan view him and the Grey Wardens as invunerable. In the end his allowing of Cailan's delusions and worship inevitably leads to Cailans demise. Duncan is a good person but despite that he left the young king in the dark, letting him believe what he wanted if he could gain more support in the end. All he had to do was agree with Loghain, "Your majesty you would be even more helpful leading the charge with Loghain!" Its that simple.
Warning wall of text above me! I will say I always felt Loghain was just paranoid and didn't trust the wardens due to the war between Fereldian and the orlesians.
Amazing. I bought Dragon Age Inquisition and sadly i can't really play other games in series. This was really helpful in understanding the lore. Thanks!
Love it, when I was a kid we had a series on the BBC called Jackanory where books are read out to the audience, use to love it. For some odd reason this reminds me of that, and its very well presented. Good work.
Yey you guys are back. I was wondering where you guys were. Whether or not you went on a vacation or used some external channel for your content for a while.
We'll probably see vidoes about the dwarves, elves, and qunari. Maybe a video about the various spirits and demons...the Makers first children. The Darkspawn, taint, fade, and the Black City. Lots of lore in Dragon Age, an I'm glad you guys choose to do a lore series on it.
Do you guys think you'll ever expand to doing lore series for IPs outside of strictly video games. Like maybe doing lore videos on extensive multimedia franchises like Star Wars or Star Trek, or doing table top RPGs like World of Darkness or Warhammer?
GamesLegitament I'm sure at some point we will look into it, Lore takes a whole bunch of time to create but keep an eye out one day you may get your wish. - SCRodney
GamesLegitament It has more lore than Swar Wars. So yes it has a lot of lore. The Halo lore goes back as far as billions of years ago back when Precursors ruled the land
Agreed, you gotta do a mass effect lore series. Other series ideas could be Half-Life, final fantasy, baldur's gate, dynasty Warriors, warcraft, and halo.
0:27 The previous Blights never reached Ferelden. The darkspawn I believe got as far as the Free Marches in their Blights but never did a full Horde led by an archdemon reach Ferelden.
That video made me so happy =D Dragon Age is one of my top 3 favorite series and I would be thrilled to help out in any way. I'm poor but I have knowledge of the series and moderate other skills that could be useful. If you see this Josh hit me up.
Also, it wasn't Loghain's ambition that caused him to desert the main army in Ostagar. It was his paranoia of the Orleasian's that were coming with the Orleasian Grey Warden's to help Ferelden fight the Blight. Because of his history with Orlais and his role in the Rebellion, he felt that the Orleasian's were going to stay and occupy Ferelden as they did in the past.He felt that it wasn't a real Blight and that this was an excuse for Orlais to come into Ferelden once again. While Loghain was becoming mad due to his paranoia, it is true that he has a deep love for Ferelden and a deep hatred for Orlais. Even though his methods(Influenced more by the sadistic Arl Howe) were questionable, He really believed what he was doing was the absolute best for Ferelden and wanted to protect Ferelden and keep Maric's work alive.
We hope you guys will enjoy this video as much as we've enjoyed making it. Tune back in for the next installment of Elder Scrolls Lore later today.
you should do darksouls lore its very interesting
rasta king why? 1) the lore is pretty vague. 2) there are several channels already doing Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 lore.
darkwzrd4 I just think its a very good game
YES!!!
rasta king Well you're wrong. It's not a good game.
IT IS THE BEST GAME IN EXISTENCE AND YOU DISHONOR IT'S NAME BY CALLING IT SUCH BLASPHEMY AS SIMPLY "good"
I love these videos. Honestly you could talk about the lore for Pacman and I would get a craving to play it.
Long ago, in world with only 2 dimensions, there was a lone circle, among a sea of squares. Dezitron the Derp Lion Do it with Josh's voice and it will be perfect :)
love your vids man!!!!
Are you gonna play Dragon Age?
Ever thought of playing DA Origins on your channel?
Lore on Dragon Age now? You guys are fantastic.
should i buy dragon age origins
Yes and until you have you are to great every one as "Hello I'm filth..."
YES YOU SHOULD!
if you like RPG's, without a doubt
You will without question get your money's worth in that game but first check out a video or two of it to make sure it's something you're interested in.
If it is on sale get it, it is too good to pass up. If you like strategic gameplay you will love it.
In war victory
In peace vigilance
In death sacrifice

Dude MisterShizno is doing an amazing DA lore series, the first 3 episodes are meh. But after that the series really starts shining, check him out:)
One of the best channels on the tubes, you just feel the effort put forth, you guys care so much about your viewers, and out Firth such great videos. Looking forward to the new series.

I love how you have to be vague about the story because of the amount of choices you have to make
I still regret killing that possessed kid...
MadChickenAttacks I still regret that I gave crown to Anora, not Alistair.
iwogwardecki I still laugh at how many dialogue options I had to go thru to get them married
Noah Fix I loved that they offered so many options. That is what I miss about the game in comparison to Skyrim. The race you chose and decisions you made did result in a different impact. My ultimate goal was to get Alistair and Anora married AND keep Loghain alive, which is not easy to do.
Justin Mc Donald How can you do that? I accidentally exiled Alistair trying to get Loghain to join the Wardens and take the final strike
I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY! THANK YOU! I was just the other day searching for a good DA lore series and I found myself wishing you guys would do one! THANK YOU SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!
First video of yours I've seen. It was well done. Very nice touch putting the origins music in this video. That really pulls it together.
ShoddyCast is such a great channel, real good bunch of people. They need more recognization for the work they put in to their videos.
YAAASSSS. Been waiting for a good DA lore video. Thanks for the awesome content as always!
It's so awesome you guys are doing this. Your ES lore videos always made me want to do something similar for the DA series considering the rich lore and my love for it. Glad to know it's in far better hands this way. Hope you guys do more, there are a thousand stories to be told!
Oh yeah....
Working our way towards Mass Effect?
maybe before the next mass effect comes out? The new dragon age comes out in like 3 years so this makes relative sense.
Ummm mass effect is over. Done. Also, inquisition comes out sooner then that
Nunu Nunurbiznes That is why Mass Effect 4 has been announced right?

I really hope that you guys get all of the money that you need, because I'd love to see all of those lore series be a thing one day.
Great vid as always! You guys never cease to help me more deeply appreciate my favorite games!
It was nice having you narrate again Josh. It was just like old times.
ShoddyCast has one weakness. They make me play the game after watching the video, I then get on the game and realise I have done everything. That's a good weakness.
I want more Dragon Age lore! :)
Hurray! Josh's voice is back!
its all about the fan service lol - SCRodney
Very excited about this new lore series! Keep up the good work ShoddyCast!
Great Video! I never thought you would do Dragon age, but i am so happy you made this ;)
i would love to see another Dragon Age Lore video!!!
Dragon age is by far one of the best video games I've played. I'm glad you guys have done this. Just- fuck yes.
Yes!! I can't wait to see the Dragon Age Lore Series! Like the Elder Scrolls Series I'm also a big fan of Dragon Age. I'm glad you're adding Dragon Age to your series; I LOVE the Elder Scrolls videos you do; please DON'T stop. I'm definitely going to watch the DA videos now too!
Thanks!
I will definitely consider helping out. I love the lore videos you guys pump out and I would love more.
Shoddy Cast, I recommend making a video just on Patreon. The message at the end may be skipped by people.
"we are not going to ask for charity, but hear me ask for charity all the same."
Never donated or followed a youtube channel or really even a television show as closely as I do the ShoddyCast. However, I believe you guys deserve and have proven your committment to spending that money on making a better channel so I will sign up to that patreon account as soon as possible.

This new system and lore series lookout seems great! Really excited.
That was awesome! I would love you guys to continue this series.:)
Great overview, refreshed the story for me without going over every minute detail of the quests.
Just made a pledge on patreon :)
And btw your lore series are awesome, always exited to see the new episodes when they come out :)
After sometime playing Skyrim and watch several TES lore story, i start to play Dragon Age, sometime before ShoddyCast start DA lore story, such coincidence. These are truly awesome rpg games
i just pledged for $3 a month, i love the content u guys make and really want to see lore series for other franchises as well!!
I freakin' love this channel. You make some awesome lore videos and that are just really enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work! :D
Glad you guys are doing Dragon Age!
After seeing the splash art at the end of the video for the WoW logo, first thing that came to mind:
""Oh sick that'd be awesome. Oh...that would mean soooo many videos"
Just pledged $20 a month, hope you guys can keep these awesome series coming every week!
Keep up the good work man!!! This is one of my Top 5 RPG thank you!!

Tell you what guys if I had an income I would sponsor you in a heartbeat, you put so much care and attention into your content
OH MY GOD! I love you ShoddyCast people!
Amazing. I bought Dragon Age Inquisition and sadly i can't really play other games in series. This was really helpful in understanding the lore. Thanks!
OMFG DA origins? you're gonna do a lore series on that?! AMAZING!
Watching this in 2024, I swear this video could come out today and be perfect. Very well made.
I just Finished origins and started Awakenings but dont have time to read all the codex so glad this came out i love these guys
A video giving a more detailed guide on how to donate and showing what kind of bonus content you will receive
If this becomes a new lore series I would be so happy.

What's the song/tune from 0:36 to 0:49 ?
Sounds so epic, and this lore makes me want to try dragon age, keep up all this great lore josh and kyle.
Love it, when I was a kid we had a series on the BBC called Jackanory where books are read out to the audience, use to love it. For some odd reason this reminds me of that, and its very well presented. Good work.
YAY!!! i was hoping shoddycast would make a dragon age lore series :D
AWESOME! i loved your elder scrolls lore series. Can't wait for this one, DA is my fave.
Awesome video. As always. And great news!!! I cant wait for DAO lore series!!! And maybe other too.... OOHHH THE EXITEMENT!

Yes, I love this idea. Once I have the money I WILL start donating! I've loved all of your content and can't wit for more!
OH MY GOD THIS MADE MY DAY!!!!! Thank you!!!!
I love your other work with the TES lore and can't wait to see how you handle DA's. Subbed and anxiously waiting for new DA lore vids. :D
Yes! I was hoping you guys would do a dragon age lore series!

Love Dragon Age, Love Lore, Love Shoddycast
OMG I love Dragon Age. Glad u guys r doing vids on it. THX
Dragon Age is still an experience that is unmatchable.
I Always liked your lore series and am really happy to hear you will cover DA
Good timing on this! Should get some good backstory episodes leading up to Inquisition
Will you use a lore supporting mods in your videos? Like for example Gray Warden armors for origins.
BTW. I love your show and cant wait for more :)
Wow great job you should do more dragon age lore this is one of the best explained video i have seen. Keep it up especial DA lore
Awesome, I already love the fallout vdieo and hopes for more Dragon age video
Do you guys think you'll ever expand to doing lore series for IPs outside of strictly video games. Like maybe doing lore videos on extensive multimedia franchises like Star Wars or Star Trek, or doing table top RPGs like World of Darkness or Warhammer?
A new epic storytime? DO MY EYES DECEIVE ME?!?
Hey ShoddyCast, could you do some lore about Halo? It has a surprising amount of background and lore. Thanks
This would be awesome. Halo has the most lore I have ever seen in a video game aside from The Elder Scrolls.
TheSavery5 I wouldn't say it has that much lore, but by far the most out of any first person shooter, that's for sure.
TheSavery5 Yeah, it would really be great to see Shoddy videos about it.
This was awesome great work! :D
Also if I had any spare cash I would give it to you :(
Agreed, you gotta do a mass effect lore series. Other series ideas could be Half-Life, final fantasy, baldur's gate, dynasty Warriors, warcraft, and halo.
Great video. Hope to see more Dragon Age lore.

Yes! Andraste's flaming knickers! it's finally happened! :D
Thank you this is one of my favorite games and its lore is amazing
