I think the song is about the dark side of being successful. The high price an artist/group pays.The loss of privacy. The constant being torn apart by the press. Also his fear of failing. BTS keeps growing and reaching heights never before reach by any other K-POP group. How much further can they go before the inevitable fall (hopefully many years). That is his anxiety.
Yoongi is my bias, and this is a brilliant MV. Duality of being an idol & having the realization that being an idol doesn’t make all the shadows of your soul disappear.You still have fears - the knowing you won’t be on top forever and then what? That bad shit happens to you despite fame and money. This MV is based on Jung’s psychology & philosophy of how one becomes a sane person, and how we integrate the pieces of ourself into one whole.

The fact that suga help me a lot these days is such a big deal for me. I've been through a lot and without SUGA'S music and stories I don't know where would I end up. Man he's not just an artist. He's an angel. If only Suga knew how many people he'd inspired to live and fight all the struggles. I'm still listening to "the last" hope you'd react to it. Such a beautiful song.

if you notice the video carefully there's a scene where everyone is facing the Yoongi on stage pointing their phones towards him and failing to notice the Yoongi that is standing right in the middle of them!! it can be interpreted that people often only see his stage self and make their assumptions based on that while they fail to notice the real min yoongi who is just like us,the crowd and a human being with feelings!

They drop their solo projects randomly (whenever they feel they’re ready). It’s usually just the rapline cycling through their album projects (RM -> AgustD -> J-hope) but now the vocalists have grown as producers and writers so JK and V have been working on their own solo projects (and Jimin and Jin have been dropping a lot of solo tracks).
So, in conclusion, they come outta nowhere 😂

For solo stuff, they kinda just do it as they want. JK has talked about a mix tape the last year, Tae has said he wanted to release his mixtape 2020 but didn’t because of the pandemic and wanting to improve it and such!! They drop hints sometimes. But with SUGA his last mixtape he just kinda dropped so you never know!!!

This song was on the BTS record Map of The Soul 7 and it gets really involved in philosopher Carl Jung theory of self. Suga has Shadow which is the dark side of your person. Also RM has a song titled Persona and J Hope has Ego from the same philosopher. They get pretty in depth with their writing and RM and Suga have said they are big into philosophy right now. I love their intelligent writing styles!

Yes! One of my favorites! GVG 💜!! It says BTS because it's still a BTS song, this was the outro song on the album, which is why it's considered BTS even though it just Suga. When he releases other songs by himself, not apart of the group, that's when he go's by AgustD instead of Suga.

it's about the loneliness when you on top and the fear of falling down. If you follow them you wont be surprise b/c Suga is never afraid of sharing his feeling, and he talked about it alot in festa 2018 and run bts .

You guys never fail to make me laugh lol. You guys were pretty spot on with the meaning! He is talking about how as he gets bigger and more famous his shadow gets bigger too but he's also saying if he goes too high he could fall. And I think his shadow is his fear, but BTS has never really painted fear as a bad thing but rather as something you need to overcome. There is quite a bit of symbolism, I think the doors opening and closing are opportunities, the people are his shadow, and Suga has mentioned before that the mirrors represent showing your true self. Also on the tan jacket on his shoulder there's a number and someone looked it up, its a serial number for a motor bike just like the one that ran over the same shoulder :') which is just another one of his shadows. ALSO! About the solo work, V has mentioned he is working on a mix tape that should be released this year, and so is Jungkook! Jungkooks might actually drop sometime soon! And the person who helped write dynamite said he's working on another song for them I think? And RM mentioned a new album during his speech at the Golden Disk Awards so I think they are working on a new album. I don't think Suga will release a mix tape soon since it's still hard for him to use his shoulder but he is a powerhouse so who knows. Can't wait for more vidoes!!

The thing is, every song that Suga creates is just.... personal. Every song, you will feel something. Maybe it is because, he does not only write and compose his songs... he produces it as well. It's like, he is always giving us this whole package and experience. I didn't experience what he had gone through but I feel so much pain to his songs. Be it anger or sadness. He just nails it. It's just amazing how he can just bleed and tear himself apart, bare his soul for the sake of his music. Agust D has as special spot on my heart because he's the realest, rawest, uncensored Yoongi.
We can agree that he is a lyrical genius and all his solo and bts songs are amazing. ...BUT THIS!!! always hits me different,,,and to hear him do it live on the ON:E concert...I could literally feel it 💜💜
The past few albums they have released solo songs for each ‘series’ such as the Love Yourself or Map of the Soul series, these songs while they are solos are still classified as BTS songs and are on BTS’s albums despite being sung by one member. They are usually called the ‘intro”, “interlude” or “outro” of the album. E.g. Intro Persona (RM), Interlude Shadow (Suga), Outro Ego (J-hope) or even Intro Nevermind “Suga” back from the HYYH series.
The rap line have all released one or two mixtapes each which compared to the bts albums solos, are separate to their works as bts. And while the vocal line have released quite a few stand alone solo songs such as ‘Promise’ by Jimin or ‘Winter Bear’ by V, and even some kdrama osts, none of them have an official mixtape or solo album...yet.
I absolutely love this song. The meaning and the symbolism in the music video is so good. The live performance is amazing as well. He is really an amazing artist and it shows!

OMG! This is my favorite solo after Epiphany (please react to it)! So excited!! The album MOTS7 is based on the book of the same name which is a psychological view of the personality and divides it in Persona, Ego and Shadow, the last one referring to the unknown or the unconscious. Persona and Ego are RM and Jhope solos, they are masterpieces as well! Please check them out 💜

Actually the doors shown at the 1st scene is a reference to a piece of modern art by I don't remember the name of the artist. But it's actually like a big brick and doors.so the brick is Ur personality and the doors are the challenges that come along Ur life . So it's like as the brick passes through each door..it looses a pieces of itself on the door . So when you pass each challenges..u lose a part of yourself.

In First Love, he raps from a dual perspective as well. He's both himself and the piano. He also raps from the requested songs perspective when he did a feature on the song "Song Request". He seems to like to showing both sides and personifying things. To me, along with other things he does, it makes him more of a storyteller than most other song writers are these days.

In Dachwita, the emperor was his earlier angry self lashing out at everyone and the rebel was his current self (his "gang" the six guys and a girl being his other members and ARMY) and how with their support he doesn't need to be like that anymore.
Shadow is part of the Jung's Map of the Soul. The whole album is based off of it. Shadow is one of the sides we have, the other's being Persona (RM's song) and Ego (J-hope's song)
On this particular song, it's Yoongi (soft rap/himself) v Suga (scratchy rap/Shadow). Two sides of the same coin. Love the video, love the reaction, love you guys. Sending good vibes and stay safe💜

Persona, Ego and Shadow. This is all based on the studies of Carl Jung and for sure it is all connected. According to Jung, the shadow represents the negative side and flaws that every and each one of us have, and we need to learn to keep it under control instead of just dissembling it. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BTS ALBUMS AND SOLO MIXTAPES
In almost every album of BTS (especially the last albums), there are some songs that are performed by an individual member or a smaller unit of BTS (among any other songs that are performed by all 7 members).

Examples in the BTS album MAP OF THE SOUL7
The solo performances:
- “Intro: Persona” - by RM
- “Interlude: Shadow” - by Suga (the one that you just reacted to)
- “Outro: Ego - by J Hope
- “Filter” - by Jimin
- “Moon” - by Jin
- etc.
The subunit performances:
- “Friends” - by Jimin and V
- “Jamais Vu” - by Jin, J Hope, Jungkook
- etc.
These all are STILL considered as part of the BTS Album and BTS songs (although some of them are performed by individuals (RM, Suga, J Hope, Jin, etc)

BUT, some BTS members have independently produced SOLO mixtapes (somehow, they are commonly called mixtapes, not albums). This is an individual project, separate from BTS Albums or BTS Songs, and produced as part of their individual passion to show their personal musical identity and preference. These mixtapes are typically released for FREE, and available on Soundcloud (or even Spotify).
RM Mixtapes:
- “RM” - 2015 (consisted of 11 songs - including Joke, Do You, etc.)
- “Mono” - 2018 (consisted of 7 songs)
AGUST D Mixtapes:
- “Agust D” - 2016 (consisted of 10 songs - including Agust D, The Last, etc.)
- “D-2” - 2020 (consisted of 10 songs - including Daechwita, People, etc.)
JHOPE Mixtapes:
- “Hope World” - 2018 (consisted of 7 songs, including Daydream,
We are waiting for Kim Taehyung mixtape (“KTH1”) and Jungkook one (“JJK1”).
You may see that typically, the song's MV from these mixtapes do not have the Big Hit logo at the beginning (you may see it in the MV of Daechwita).

HOW OFTEN SOLO SONG(S) OR SOLO MIXTAPES ARE RELEASED?
- If you asked about how often songs like Suga’s SHADOW are released, the answer would relate to the question of how often BTS releases an album (since the song SHADOW is part of BTS album, not part of Agust D mixtape).
The answer is that the BTS album is commonly released twice a year or every 6-9 months. (YES, they are very productive)
- BUT, if you asked about how often songs like Agust D “DAECHWITA” are released, the answer would be very varied. Since the song is part of the individual/independent work of the member, how often it was released really depends on their efforts and their free time to finish each mixtape. Somehow, it could be every 3-4 years.

I think because of the general boyband concept people are used to in the west, they’re generally a bit thrown off by the fact that BTS members release their solo stuff outside the group.
Typically, in the west, solo stuff only happens after a group breaks up or goes on a break. Whereas, with BTS it’s something they do in their own time alongside their career in BTS as a way to express their individual artistry.
Personally I think it’s amazing because when we get member written or prod tracks on BTS albums, you can typically tell who wrote or produced them. For example, I think that Telepathy screams that it’s a song written by Yoongi and Dis-ease is undoubtedly a Hobi project. So then when we get mixtapes, it’s an opportunity to see that individual style of each member fully because that aren’t having to tweak a song so that they can include more members or so that it sounds cohesive on a BTS album.
For anyone who reads this, I’m by no means saying that it’s bad that they have to tweak songs that were originally written for mixtapes (Stay, Blue & Grey, Your Eyes Tell etc.) I’m just saying that when we get songs on BTS albums written by members (whether they were originally for a mixtape or not), it’s nice because we get a little hint as to what we can expect on mixtapes because all their styles are so vastly different. I love love love hearing the members own projects and songs included on BTS albums, I think it’s amazing they do that and express it rather than just having all their stuff written by one person and sounding the same 💜💜💜
When BTS release a music, they not just drop a catchy song,, but they release a catchy song with a message in it 👍

This video is 2 months old already but let me tell you guys, in their early years, they used to write songs like if we ruled the world and what if bangtan rises something like that. Now, they’ve reached the top and this song totally tell us what they feel,, they’re humans too.
I loved this! Shadow is my favorite solo song and song by Suga (followed by Epiphany by Jin) and I'm just in love with the song. So happy you reacted to it!
In the full version of the song, the second verse is insane! He raps fast and the flow is so nice! You have to listen to the full song because wow... and the amazing intro music is longer in the full version and it's just amazing!
