This song is kinda like a prequel to Fake Love. This song is when you first fall in love and you want to be with that person all the time, and you would do anything for that person. Then in Fake Love, you’ve been together for a while and you realize that you have tried to change yourself to fit what that person wanted, to the point that you don’t even recognize yourself anymore. And finally the conclusion of the story is their song Idol, where they have accepted themselves for who they really are and learned to love themself. There are a few other songs that fit into that storyline, but for me these 3 are the beginning middle and end.. like a trilogy.

Let me explain, when me and my boyfriend first met we were just drawn to each other and this song was the first BTS song we both listened to as a couple and it descibes exactly how we met, and now this song is our couple song and it holds a special place in my heart as without this song i wouldnt have met my boyfriend (of 3 years)

This song has such a special place in my heart because it's the first song I listened to from BTS. It showed up in my suggested the day it came out and I was like "sure, why not" and then the second Tae came on screen, I just went "that one. I just need to know his name" and then I watched a guide, which turned into several guides and then I fell down a rabbit hole for a few hours until I knew everyone's name and by then it was too late for me because I'd already grown attached to every single one of them.
To let you know how DEEP this song is..
Two people can be linked by destiny but by DNA? The only other person who has the same exact DNA as you is well, you. This song is more about self love than it is about romance and such. They are talking about how they are meant to find theor true self that they will love. It's in their destiny. It's in their DNA. There is more symbolism in the video, you can find those in some explanation videos I suppose. DNA isn't the shallow song that people think it is.

it’s hard to listen to one song out of the whole album, especially for the Love Yourself series, and try to get the meaning from it. The Love Yourself albums tell a story, so once you go in order it’ll make more sense with all the lyrical meanings

This is the 1st song my son showed me that got me hooked. After watching this I liked their dancing and music. The next video I loved their lyrics. Then watching their story and the struggles they overcame I respected and admired them. They also gave me the positivity and strength to survive breast cancer that I was fighting at that time.
I haven't told my son how much him saying, "Hey mom, you used to dance and sing right?"
"Yes."
"I think you'll like these guys."
Now here I am years later given the strength and positive energy to beat cancer, survive the death of my mother and father, and battle the emotional, mental and physical that I face daily.
All because of 7 young Korean men. Thank you BTS, but even more... thanks kid for unwittingly knowing what and who your mom needed.

DNA is the song from the first Love Yourself series album which is LY Her~LY Her is about love, fluttering moment when in love, happiness while LY Tear is about separation, sadness, anxiety and the last album is LY Answer which about the discovery of self love..there was so much explainantion about the Love Yourself series but this is only what I could remember...usually each BTS song in an album have their continuous story...so pls listen to their other songs (side B songs) not only the main title songs in their album~
On its own, DNA seems like a typical love song, but when viewed in the context of the Love Yourself albums it is instead a song about fake, unhealthy love and infatuation. It completely blows my mind how they do that. I was so happy that they didn't just say Love Yourself but made us go through the whole phase of being in this unrealistic love through LY:HER then realising it was all fake and that the person is losing himself trying to be the perfect version of themselves through LY:TEAR and then ended it with the message of loving yourself before loving someone else through LY:ANSWER. They literally took us through a whole journey. I mean that's so comforting and relatable at the same time.

DNA was probably my favorite song when I first got into bts..
there's honestly so many more mv left for you to see, but I'd recommend their debut song- no more dream (it's very hip hop, swag and another absolute gem of a song :)) it introduces their message for the youth and it actually ties in with their official ON mv (which I also recommend 💜)
