@@GeorgeVGuitars ok thanks. Btw I bought the slash Epiphone special II kit with the appetite burst as a first guitar and I've always been in love with the actual appetite burst , but I have the cheapest "yellowish-orange" one. I still love how similar it looks of course! I feel that the top colour difference between this special II and the epiphone les Paul is not that great as it's still not coming very close to the Gibson top unfortunately and keeps this orange-yellowish colour. So that made me think of maybe getting the vermilion or the November burst , to have sth different if that makes sense

@@GeorgeVGuitars I upgraded mine with a Dimarzio Tone Zone and PAF pickups and CTS pots. Installed Grover Kluson style tuners and a Tone Pros bridge. It's a killer guitar after the upgrades.

Are you sure Epiphone has cheap Epiphone jack, switch and pots? I thought that was for the standards but the limited '59 standards and the Slash collection had CTS and Switchcraft stuff!
I hate how some people basically talk about this guitar like it's a Chibson.. It was built by an expert luthier, and is a replica of a 1959 Les Paul. More than likely built with more care and precision than any Gibson Les Paul (but they're still my favourite guitars) And I have no problem with it having a Gibson logo, it's like a replicant - More Gibson than Gibson.
I have a VinTage ( the Guitar Brand ) AFD Paradise Flame from round about 2012 customnized with original Seymour Duncan Slash Pickups CTS pots and Orange drop caps in 50´s wiring and the colour looks like your Gibson this cost me ca. 600€
zero difference in sound with the gain. By the epiphone. 2000$ more is insane. USA doesn't deserve the extra cash these day. Most people do much better than Gibson in price and quality these days. They are just holding on.
A bit disingenuous. Most gain (and even cleans) sound very similar on YT. Since the dawn of gear reviews, you should always compare in person. It’s the same with tube amps vs digital or solid state. Of course, it is diminishing returns on tonality but that is analogous to every luxury: a Honda can go the speed limit, but a BMW has better materials. I can tell you that I can tell a Gibson from Epiphone when my buddy plays my guitars and I do not watch which guitar he is playing (my Epiphone has Seymour Duncans in it). Also, the quality argument is old. My Epiphone had atrocious routing and poor wiring out of the factory. My Gibson was amazing and was a floor model and high foot traffic music store (CME, IYKYK). Gibson does nitro, more tradition binding process, and has a more regimented process for prepping wood prior to assembling the guitar. These process drastically increase turnaround time + American labor. You don’t have to care about this, but I’d rather justify spending money on a guitar that justifies its price. Polyurethane is one of the cheapest finishes and no guitar that uses it should cost over $1.2k (looking at fender which also cheaps out with bolt on necks, another assembly process that drastically decreases turnaround time and labor). As for QC, Gibson is the only manufacturer that keeps nitro on all their guitars at their scale of sales. Considering PRS generally costs over $3.5k for a set-neck nitro guitar and fender charges almost $3k for a gloss nitro finish (bolt-on) guitar, you get comparatively better prices for those features from Gibson. With the only decent rival being Heritage. Most retailers store their Gibsons in atrocious environments (guitar center and Sam Ash were notorious for this), which dried out their fretboards and causes nitro to not only show checking but also increases blemishes. If you want a 100% pristine guitar, than buying a guitar that uses nitro and full body binding is not the route. There’s a reason PRS uses reveal binding instead of actual binding. Epiphone does a great job but I assure you bad quality from them exists. I’d recommend a used tribute or studio from Gibson over a higher end Epiphone anyday of the week.
I love Victoria Epiphone. She is the perfect weight and I can sling her around and have fun. To me, she is perfect. If I paid $3,000 for her, I would wear gloves just to touch her. Yeah, Vickie is the girl for me. Feed her a little rice and she's good to go...
I have a non-Gibson replica, all mahogany, long neck tenon, bone nut, real Tune-O-Matic and Seymour Duncan Alnuco II pickups. It plays better and sounds better than my $4,000 Gibson Standard. Just got to look around for a good luthier.
