- Two 6 hp Advance steam traction engines are seen running the J S Company sawmill at the 2020 Buckeye Steam & Gas Reunion.
The first part of the video shows a single engine on the mill and working hard. Halfway through, a second engine is added to speed up the process.
These engines are two of three that were built from scratch by J S Company, with the second largely finished by its owner. The following day, these engines would dyno at 56 and 62 hp, respectively.
That is quite an operation. I've never seen two engines powering a sawmill but I guess that is why they have more than one drive pulley. The whole crew looked well coordinated with no bottlenecks. The lumber production looked very good. I get to watch a demonstration sawmill like this at two shows each summer. It's always a fan favorite (mine too).
At one point during the video I saw sparks flying out of the stack!
Steam traction engines are so kool , I wanna see one in action someday in real life.
Las maquinas bien mantenidas trabajan bien por viejas que sean .Gracias por el video
This year I hope it doesn't rain like it did that Saturday
Are these newly made engines? Sure is a nice machine
Yes both of these engines have been built around 2014 I believe, and patterned from a full scale 6hp Advance engine
