    Linford Christie wins gold in 1992

    I can remember screaming at the tv watching that race, just like I'd done 4 years previously when Ben Johnson won. Was devastated a couple days later when he was disqualified.

    • @tmlogan139
      @tmlogan139 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, except he's still treated like a legend while Ben is treated as the worst sort of pariah. I'm still angry at the way he was treated and continues to be treated. There was nothing fair or just in it at all. HE took the fall for everyone.

      Same for me. I can remember it vividly. We were on holiday in Portugal and the whole family and loads of the guests were watching it on a small TV. You could tell before the start that Linford had total belief in himself. And the cheering when he won the gold medal was just like a football match. Easily our best ever sprinter.

      Complete nonsense. Linford's progression was pretty gradual over a period of years. He was olympic silver medalist four years previously.
      Why put up comments about something you know little about.
      In his early career Linford was known for lacking discipline but from around the age of 24 when his natural ability made him europian champion around this time, he progressed well and gradually to become olympic champion 9 years later.

      Yeah you're right he got "caught" after retiring when he was coaching & no longer an athlete as well no longer needing to watch what he consumed whether food or supplements. He only ran because he was asked to make up numbers as someone pulled out & the line up looked weak. That's what you call a drugs cheat lol. Funny how he's known as a drugs cheat now. He was Never caught in competition & even the Seoul Olympics he was "caught" using ginseng (a natural herbal at the time not illegal but now is banned). Tainted because he was aloof & suspicious of the press who disgustingly showed footage of his brothers murder & made false accusations of his life prior to his demise.
